The ULTIMATE FLOORING HACK! | Installing Vinyl Plank Flooring
The ULTIMATE FLOORING HACK! | Installing Vinyl Plank Flooring
Hey Gang, welcome back to the channel. In today’s video we FINALLY install the flooring on this project. It’s been a long time coming and we’re so excited to lay this stuff down. We think it came out absolutely incredible using the techniques and experience we’ve gained from other floors we’ve laid. There are plenty of good “How To” videos on Youtube, we wanted to make a video more centered on the journey of installing a new floor, especially if you’re DIY and it’s a larger project. There are a lot of unique challenges to face but we think we covered some good ones here, let us know in the comments what you’ve come up against and how you tackled it! And if you’re thinking about re-doing the floors in your home, you got this! Thanks so much for watching, thanks for all the support, and we’ll see ya in the next one!

I love your vids and I was very happy to find this one since I’m getting ready to replace the carpet in my house with laminate flooring and is my first time. Love your vids thank you for the tips. I have used some from other vids already on my other house projects. Thank you for all your vids.
Look how amazing it looks…. Then video blurs….

One of my FAVORITE Channels!!!!! No matter if your working on a really old house or mobile you respect everyone’s house and budget. Adore you guys! I’ve learned so much!
What transition piece was used for the fireplace?
Don’t you guys use underlay for these floors when installing them? There seems to be a lot of recommendation to use underlay, and in particular when laying on concrete using a moisture barrier type underlay to protect the flooring once down.
Did you just hit that edge with a lump hammer? 😳
What brand is this flooring
I have a question about the LVP flooring. We recently replaced our flooring with the LVP flooring product. Now after a few months, there are slight gaps popping up between planks in some of the rooms. The contractor is saying it is normal and can’t do anything about it due to the constant settling of our home. We are in /southern CA where there are lots of earthquakes etc. What is your opinion? I think the installation was bad, that perhaps the subs did not hammer the edges to each plank.
XLNT: Looking forward for more.
Been in the trades remodeled 100s of houses and you guys are good with your creative solutions to creative problem-solving. also, your quality, layout process, and attention to detail are great. excellent work The top post guy is right on all his tips but unless you remove the door you can’t eliminate the gap on your jambs. (unless you want t try to pry the corners down and fill the corner with something depending on how the jamb is fastened.) you can move the casing down though. razer the caulk and either remove the casing or depending on the gap you may be able to get away using a tapping block and a hammer to push the casing down if you don’t want to putty/paint/caulk the casing.
You have some sun damage on your face. Need to visit a dermatologist and ask for some tropical cream, or he can burn some off with nitrogen. Maybe do both.. Have been fighting the same condition for years. By the way, watched you video (installing a floor). Very helpful, thanks..
If you had 9 boxes left over, that’s not good estimating…
I’m glad this pop up got my first job in ahh week
Watched the video. You didn’t show how you got the last piece in against the wall (not hallway) and you didn’t show how you hid the gap between the strips and the baseboards. That’s the kind of stuff I need to learn.
Are you using Thinset or Float? Also, an alternative is Custom Building Materials Level quick. It is really helpful because once poured it will find its own center of gravity to fill in low points of entire space. Just, Mix it to about pancake mix consistency, put 1 by’s at Baseboard to keep any running under wall creating damage to the Sheetrock
great video………i love your videos……..great work
Did you run it on the refrigerator or did you go around it?
Much appreciated shout out to us flooring installers. Thank you!! It’s always good to be recognized. Also, good to see someone else prep a floor like I do!!
Question: Why didn’t you cut the flooring to go under the baseboards since there was plenty of room for expansion because the previous floor was so much thicker? Are you going to shoe mold the entire floor?
Beautiful flooring job!
You guys put in some quality work and sharing all this experience is amazing. But, I have to say I am too lazy to put in all that extra effort to make a Vinyl Plank Floor so perfect. I would just hire you.
Dear Lord please send me a man like this! Amazing! ✨
I have used a diamond blade to undercut the brick hearth in about 1/2-3/4” so the flooring slides under the hearth to eliminate the need for shoe or any trim piece
At 17.09 looks like the overlap at a joint will be less than the 400mm recommended. Also are you not going to remove skirting boards and refit even if it means replastering and painting.
28:41 that’s code to do under dishwasher else you break code. If you buy a dishwasher install they have flooring guys install flooring under it if its not there. Its code due to notice leaks so it doesn’t run under the floor. In EU we have that Code I don’t know about America.
great stufff again,, thanks guys,, amen,,1776
baby powder would help you with lacing pieces in alot better than soapy water. might try it the next time you get a chance. dont tap too hard though because it will move alot further with each hit than with soapy water
I have about 6 damaged boards from water damage in my kitchen but idk how to replace them. Do I do them individually and cut them out or do I pull it all up in that area and put it all back together after? Ty
Lol I love the gang
Hey , tuco , how’s Walter doing?
Thought this would be a quick video about shims, can’t sit here for 30min on the jobsite…
I usually undercut every jamb as part of my prep. That way, it’s just install.
Awesome video! I love the look and color of this floor. Can you please share the manufacturer and color?
Had a hallway with 7 door openings and it was a pain
As far as spaces are concerned they have spacers now that are shaped like an L that do not fall in you can get those at Home Depot he was right A lot of times there is a gap under the baseboard so the material slides checkout Home Depot
I heard that chipping effect in the concrete is also sometimes due to concrete being poured below temp in colder areas. Not sure where you are located
What type of vinyl flooring do you normally use?
Can you link where to get that Lazer pole?
Cool video! Have you ever tried using hot glue instead of anchors? The pro type hot glue, 1/2 sticks
Black strap adhesive? Asbestos?
How do you fill the gap between bottom of door jamb and vinyl flooring, since the old parquet was thicker than new vinyl?
Flip the piece around put it to the wall use a small piece and square it on the piece and cut it right there and save time and amount of getting up and down
Rookies
Jordan, bruh… share your dad man.
I appreciate your videos, and work ethic. Thank you for sharing valuable information on a wide variety of homeowners issues. I did a vinyl plank floor in the laundry room this week. Only smashed my pinky one time and wasted only one plank! Success is the goal. Union electrician for forty years.
Some of the things done in this video are the hard way of doing it
I’m gonna need a link to that backsplash tile.
Since they are all developed from photos of wood, why don’t the manufacturers use more than just six or seven different planks? Why not 20? They are just PICTURES, after all. The cost would be minimal.
My other gripe is why they include at least one if not two planks that have extremely distinctive grain figurations?
If it looks like the face of an owl or it’s a knot unlike any other maybe it should be substituted for one less obvious.
how you guys like the reebok safety toes?? been looking at them myself
