This changes everything! Big changes like this one are worth the hard work and pay off! Building our own home here at the cabin in the woods brings us so much joy as we learn and challenge ourselves to try new things. When we moved to the woods I had no idea where we would be today but I’m proud of how far we’ve come. We hope you enjoy coming along for the off grid build & renovations 💛

Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we’re so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. Thank you for being here with us for cabin life, van life and all the in between!

consider sealing the deck, with the weather you all get it will extend the life and keep it looking nice

  2. MANDY MORRIS on May 12, 2022 at 8:52 pm

What fantastic work on your decking. Will you be covering the front of the decking? As I am terrified of creepy crawlies! 🕷️

  3. Andy Solorzano on May 12, 2022 at 8:54 pm

Wow… outstanding work ladies! The deck looks amazing. You two, Bella and Izzy and your family will love spending time out there. All the best to you both (all four of you, actually!) 😉🍷

Great job with the new deck! You need to get rid of your mice! Pest control is needed. You both can become very sick.

  9. CaptainDuckman on May 12, 2022 at 9:00 pm

your deck is larger than my entire garden, and my garden is typical for gardens here.
Deck life? Nah, no room. Maybe some chairs on the patio but that’s it.

  14. Mark Vincent on May 12, 2022 at 9:03 pm

Writing from England, and thoroughly enjoying your videos. Hope this isn’t a rude question, but how do you finance all this, land, cabin, travel etc. I expect I am one of many envious people watching you. Is it easy to buy land…it’s expensive here but we have 60m people on a small island. Wishing you well.

Love love love the deck and the way you have it set up!! Great area for day to day life in the great weather and even for dog wrestling ☺️😂 The first time I experienced Nova Scotia weather it was raining…my husband was from Springhill and I am born and bred in Ontario. We took our older daughter who was 5 and my 2 stepdaughters who were about 8 and 7 to Halifax for a few days while my stepdaughter s’ mom looked after our 18 month old! Fog and rain the whole 3 days!!! 😉😉

Happy late Mothers Day! I am glad you are back at your cabin. I love your cabin. Congratulations on another great project! Your new deck is beautiful and the couch between the 2 seats is the best for the dogs comfort.

I love all the air views of your property before & after! That big spot in the middle of all those trees😲 amazing! And all that girl muscle power is insane💪👏👏👏👏 The way u 2 built out your vans impressive but to take on a "house" with all those instructions & cutting & measuring just mind boggling, shows what our minds & bodies can do 👍✌️

  35. Donelle Miller on May 12, 2022 at 9:30 pm

Incredible deck, fine job ladies 😀! Question – at some point since you both enjoy water are you thinking about a natural pool? So many videos are showing cabins, domes, yurts and gardens, ponds and streams but not one has a natural pool. Just wondering. Sure enjoy your cabin projects, thanks for sharing!

  36. Vanwives on May 12, 2022 at 9:31 pm

woah! Apologies on the 7 minute late upload time (first ever 🤣) we were on the phone with our mothers! Happy moms day! 💛 this was an awesome first time deck build, we had a great time seeing it come together… what do y’all think of the build? Any ideas for the outdoor kitchen?

  37. Jenny A on May 12, 2022 at 9:31 pm

  44. Mark Scheitel on May 12, 2022 at 9:44 pm

Great job girls!! One thing I would look into is more snow stops for you roof on the deck side , from experiance you don’t want to shovel the heavy snow that comes off. You gals rock it!!

  45. Carrie D’Adamo on May 12, 2022 at 9:45 pm

    ♥️

  46. Adrienne Fraschetta on May 12, 2022 at 9:45 pm

    Beautiful job ladies!!!

  48. J.t.R. JP on May 12, 2022 at 9:50 pm

Next project : build a smokeless fire pit. The new deck also needs a retractable awning for rainy days. Y’all need to drill a hole in the middle of the table for your outdoor large umbrella
