👬Who we are:
Hey, we’re Chad and Paul. We lived a pretty typical life up until a few years ago. Chad was a speech-language pathologist and Paul was an attorney. We worked in New York City and by all means were set. But we didn’t feel settled. We wanted something different. We started a bunch of online businesses, quit our 9-5’s and now we live an unconventional life in our van (a Storyteller Overland MODE 4×4). Follow along with us on our journey.

300 miles is a step in the right direction, but how long does it take to be recharged at 100%? This is good for Canada and the USA, but I don’t think Mexico (Baja) is ready for this… 🙁 For us long range driver/boon dockers I think that fossil fuel is still the answer for us, unfortunately.
Finally! An American RV that doesn’t look like grandma’s house! Love the innovative industrial design and look. Make the range 500 miles and I’m in! Love it!
Looks great, but 300 miles is average, in cold weather it can be just 250 or less depending on heating. I think a plug in hybrid would be more practical so you have the gas as back up in long journeys. But I do love the tech of this RV.
And to just be idle and running electronics? They should be focusing in integrating energy generation along with the electric engine. Fit the top with solar panels, or why not small wind generators, or the tires, the breaks? Why not make an rv that only needs to fill up on water?
1:25 The command center is far too large. It could’ve easily been a tablet on the wall somewhere. Also I know they’re planning to incorporate solar into the moon roof but just having that(although really nice) it guarantees you’re not putting anything up there and there’s a possibility of leaks later. Unless the solar moon roof is as good as panels ontop, I’d rather it be a solid roof.
Also, just look around, there’s a lot of unnecessary materials in this build. The vanity on the bathroom could be drastically reduced, the command center corner, the garage, the cabinets. SO much of it could’ve been extruded aluminum and been lighter and far thinner, thus more room inside. Imo it’s like they designed this van to be heavy af for some reason. Every pound inside is range lost. It should’ve been as light as possible.
Also you couldn’t go into the shower cuz they had mentioned in another video that, since it’s a pre-production model, the bathroom door was messed up and opening it would’ve made it pop off.
Yes that’s kool
basin sink it a complete waste of space
Where’s the bed?
What car is the basis for this?
When is it available?
Cool but overkill. This is going to be way expensive. I would love this with just the kitchen and bathroom. No windows but keep the moonroof. I want it stealth. And in all white – maybe get fancy and do two tones of white – to cut down on heat. 300-mile range is perfect.
It does look fantastic but from a pragmatic stand point it’s a bit gimmicky. All those pop up mechanism and frosted glass probably means heavier weight than a standard counter part, and the induction cook top uses electric as well, so not sure how these factor plays out with the electric range. And yes, definitely need a solar roof that can help put a little juice back in the battery while in the campground. Probably be wise to leave room for a gas/propane generator just to have some back up ranges for quick recovery to a nearby charging station.
Side mirror camera screen too small
I think 300 miles of range is pretty good, especially for an rv. But what will the price be? Are we lookin at$200k? More? Less?
It’s not about this 300-mile rather where the next 300-mile is.
Ugh😢… IF ONLY THE QUALITY OF CONSTRUCTION AND PRIDE OF MANUFACTURING WAS THIS EVIDENT IN ALL THOR PRODUCTS…. SADLY NOT TRUE… THOR DOES SADLY OWN MOST RV BRANDS AND THEREFORE FEEL THEY HAVE THE LUXURY OF OFFERING INFERIOR PRODUCTS….
do the windows open? screened?
How much?
Electric vehicles are a large CON to siphon money out of the pockets of the people that are gullible to the so called green revolution which isnt green at all. My nephew bought a $65,000 Tesla that he could not drive when we had the polar vortex at christmas, he said the cold, along with having to run the electric heater left him with only about 30% range from normal. They just had a new baby and were afraid to travel anywhere in it for safety reasons. What a wise investment, now he has 65,000 regrets.
Too achieve a range of 300 miles, it would take at least 450 kwh battery using 1.5 miles per kwh at best for a 13,500 lb vehicle with 2 ton high energy battery pack. Stage 2 charging could take three days. The best battery system now is on a GM hummer 212 kwh that may get 300 miles if no other device is using power. Thor might want to use a Merc diesel engine that gets better than 330 miles per tank.
I bet like an electric car, 300 is the range on a warm summer day driving very strategically , 150 on a cold winter day. Maybe 400 on a warm summer day no wind and on back roads.
Who are these aimed for? We could solve something already relevant with this or create an excuse for necessity…
300 miles is a fantastic improvement! I would like to see more miles per charge though 400-450 is ideal. Allows for more flexibility.
Thanks for this great tour! I love watching this technology evolve. I’m waiting for the advancement to self-charging while driving utilizing solar panels on the roof. Then, we’ll have something close to unlimited mileage.
I want it 😍
And of course a price is also important.
I love this design but I wonder why they won’t do this for others rv’s?
Really nice and all RV Van’s will probably be electric by the end of the decade. The biggest problem is most charging stations are just big enough for a car as of now.
THOR is know to be a poor quality RV manufacturer. With this level of complexity the launch is likely to be a desaster. Also, an electric RV with just 300 miles of range is at the low end of acceptable. Furthermore, not having the entire roof equipped with solar foil is a huge failure. Why not enable to add to the battery capacity using the solar energy capture during the camping sunny days?
Isn’t the moon roof going to make you use all of your electricity on HVAC, thereby dramatically reducing the range? It is stunning and I’m so glad we’re getting closer to an electric RV!
I think it is enough
We need more charge stations 🚉
How much is this van going for ?
Don’t open the shower!!!
May I know the estimated cost?
300 Miles is ok-ish. 5 hours of driving… its time for a break if you have access to a Level 3 charger. Have a meal… take a nap! If your destination is powered campground with 30/50A/240V that would be acceptable. However, "dry camping" it would need a full size solar roof with solar awnings on both sides! Or your just going to need to bring a generator!
This is sick. They should add a secondary small gas tank backup.
300 mile is good enough for a more laid back attitude on the vacation.
It may render in a couple of more nights at new places you never knew you would visit and you may very well like those unplanned places.
take my $$$ give me dates!
300 miles in ideal weather, over a flat surface, fully loaded, at 60 MPH?
They should consider a pull out cover for the moon roof that doubles as a solar panel, that way when the sun is at its highest and you need shade, you could also charge the battery! Love the styling and direction this is going. What would the range be pulling a medium sized two axle trailer?
Found this video randomly. Have to give kudos for making an awesome review video. Great commentary, great camera work, great editing!
It look like a Ensuite-on wheel
They should have found a friendlier person to oversee the show. Not a good impression.
300 miles means in a not-so-perfect day such as mountain climbs with a lot of air conditioning etc, you could be reduced to maybe 200 miles. Still very doable. As time goes on, there are more and more charging stations and with apps like ChargePoint and PlugShare, you’ll always know where you can stop next to top off. I’d expect inside of 5 years, it will be normal to have chargers at most restaurants and other places where you normally stop. It’s already getting that way here in California. The days of 9 MPG and $5.00+ fuel is drawing to an end. This is a very good start!
Very good. Is it "B" driving licence?
This is amazing
exactly what I have in mind if I purchase a class B van! Please Thor make it happen soon
I would rather have real mirrors.
DON’T TOUCH THE SHOWER ⚠️👄⚠️
What’s the UK price for this lean machine… is it avail here?
I’m expecting around £140k but I saw a dollar price of $116k somewhere; surely not?
