THRIFTING GOODWILL FOR home decor & THRIFT HAUL * COME THRIFT WITH ME!

In todays video THRIFTING GOODWILL for home decor & THRIFT HAUL I would love for y’all to come thrift with me and see all the wonderful treasures I pick up while thrift shopping. I also encountered an incredibly rude goodwill employee on this trip. I’m mind blown by people these days.

Hello everyone, my name is Julie and on Thrilled Thrifter you will find that I absolutely love thrift shopping.(Especially for home decor!) I want to share all things thrift here on my channel to teach you how to go thrifting for your home, family and friends. I mostly thrift at Goodwill, yard/garage sales, FB marketplace, antique stores, estate sales and so many other local thrift stores. I believe you can make your home beautiful on a thrifty budget! I will take you on so many thrift with me shopping trips, share my thrift hauls and almost always show you how to use thrift finds in your home. I post every Friday and sometimes on Tuesday. Occasionally I do thrift flips and decorating videos too! I hope you walk away from my channel feeling inspired to shop secondhand. Don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss out!

@Thrilled Thrifter You do know that you’re Not Allowed to Go Thru the Bins until there Put Up So you are in the Wrong there. However she could of Said Excuse me you can’t look through there & then move Bins. So it’s Not Rude because she’s in the Right & your in the wrong if that makes sense to you , Because in her eyes your being rude as well but I don’t agree with fighting rude with rude but anyways gave you a thumbs up on video for the thrift.

Too funny I own that Christmas quilt.

I work a second job as a server & some days I go home & cry. People can be so rude over food. My day job, I handle home loans & have dealt with my fair share of rude people but on another level, nothing like being a server. I put up with it because it is my second job & I know its temporary so please to anyone going out to eat, please be kind, we are human too. It’s unbelievable how people act. It’s just food.

9:35 this is for those stuffed olives. $50 for a set of dishes isn’t too bad. $200 is way too much for a thrift store.

Julie, thank you for passing on the kindness. Someone has been rude to that employee and she’s passing it along. It only takes one person to stop and turns things around. Thank you for being that person. Even though she didn’t apologize to you, she’ll be more kind to the next person.

Good for you for bringing attention to what the employee!! And taking the high road😘 love what you said about the pillows- my mom use to say if I ever needed money I could sell some of my pillows 😂😂

Completely agree with you about rudeness, we are living in a crazy world right now . I love the pieces that you picked up Julie , but thrift store prices are getting silly . I went to value village this morning picked up a beautiful glass vase looked at the price and was so shocked to see $29.99 I nearly choked on fresh air ! Have a wonderful weekend.

I think the dishes were overpriced Not quality. Junky

  12. Lona Coleman on August 7, 2023 at 4:10 pm

The blue dishes in the case are called Blue Willow if they are old then yes it would be a good deal but they make repros of them and would not be a good deal.

  13. Joyce Hancock on August 7, 2023 at 4:11 pm

I think Julie that ppl have no manners because they haven’t been taught mannerism. I see young ppl today that never say excuse me or think you or even kindly keep the door open ❤️

Oh gosh I would have snapped up that beautiful painting in an instant especially for the frame. I just love those bold gold frames. Unfortunately, resellers are hiking up the prices at Goodwill stores because they openly boast about the profit they can make selling these items either online, at market stalls or at their antique booths. It saddens me because Goodwill stores were intended to assist the needy in offering everyday essentials at affordable prices. I daresay the employee at your Goodwill may have mistaken you for a reseller because you were filming. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a somewhat dislike for these people because of the way they behave in their stores rummaging through trolleys and baskets and occasionally breaking items before they’re placed on shelves. It’s a lucrative business for many but ruins the spontaneity for others who simply love thrifting for personal decor. I certainly do not condone rudeness and I’m not making excuses for this particular employee but if you stay true to your morals and don’t succumb to others’ anger, then you will have made this world a much better place for all of us. I enjoy your videos purely because I love watching how you transform the odd into the spectacular. Now that’s talent.

  15. Tina Shockley on August 7, 2023 at 4:12 pm

I love your beautiful attitude. It is so hard in todays world of rudeness. Your calm teaching moment is so needed in our world. Thank you for sharing that. Someone may has observed it and you may have made an amazing impact on their lives.

Really fun trip. I ran into a very rude pharmacy worker last week when I got my shingles shot. He didn’t realize they do surveys on line whenever you get s shot. Ha ha, I told them just what I thought! 😡👍💕

  18. Judy Batts on August 7, 2023 at 4:15 pm

Yes, you are so right but I have to be honest. I would have given her a piece of my mind.

  19. Vickie Allen on August 7, 2023 at 4:16 pm

Thank you, Julie for reminding us to always be kind! Love the quilt

  22. Joan Sheppard on August 7, 2023 at 4:17 pm

I love your calmness and it’s TRUE to show them that is not necessary to be rude like she was.

  23. NJ on August 7, 2023 at 4:18 pm

I think a lot of people these days are in their own personal bubble and blink out everything else to the point of being plain rude, still not ok though what the lady did there could have been really dangerous.

  24. Tammy Beard on August 7, 2023 at 4:20 pm

❤love the Christmas quilt you got I sure would have gotten it too, I am a sucker for oil paintings ❤❤❤

  25. Rosa Rodriguez on August 7, 2023 at 4:21 pm

You were just startled at her rudeness,I think. Because you’re a sweet lady. Hopefully she learned a lesson. Probably not, tho. I have that first Santa mug you showed. I bring out all my Christmas cups in December and use them all month long. Don’t ever let other people’s behavior change yours. God bless you and your family

  26. Kay K on August 7, 2023 at 4:22 pm

When you first spread that little quilt (my family calls it a lap blanket/quilt) and I saw the oil lamp in the middle I KNEW it was going in your buggy to "know" about it! 😉 Blessings Julie!😊

Ran into one those rude people at Walmart the other day when waiting to ask the pharmacist a question. I did not say a word.

  29. william taylor on August 7, 2023 at 4:28 pm

    LOVE THIS

  30. Lorraine Naples on August 7, 2023 at 4:30 pm

I think the long narrow dishes with the grapes design on them are for serving olives.

  31. Barbara Park on August 7, 2023 at 4:33 pm

That was Blue Willow and not a good buy.

  32. ChristineS on August 7, 2023 at 4:34 pm

I think those canoe shape dishes were meant for olives.

  33. Nicki Zieth on August 7, 2023 at 4:35 pm

I have a whole thrift store locally that’s filled with rude and unhappy workers, from experience I feel it’s likely the managers attitude and so I always try to smile and spread joy to the staff there. Here as part of our social security requirements people that are unemployed have to volunteer a certain amount of hours to things like charity stores, so I understand these people are likely struggling emotionally and mentally. I can choose to join their attitude or show them that the world isn’t filled with all unhappiness. I think you did the right thing, kindness while standing up for yourself is always better

  34. Gwen Elliott on August 7, 2023 at 4:35 pm

Julie, I always thoroughly enjoy your videos, and I thank you for your content!

RE: the employee. – my first thought is as a supervisor, I want to know when my employees aren’t treating clients with the respect they deserve. I feel like I need to let a supervisor know when something to that nature happens. But, as a mom of an autistic son, some people don’t have the social awareness they should and it must be taught. My son is 12 and we are doing our best to teach him those cues so that as an adult, he will still be respectful. However, I see so many of these kids like my son growing up with disengaged parents and they grow into adults without the awareness they need. If the worker has this issue, the supervisor could help the worker with it. If the worker was just being rude, the supervisor could address that as well. But they can’t address it if they don’t know about it. Its always a judgement call on whether or not I alert a supervisor though. But I think I would’ve said something there. If the person is truly just being rude, your comment most likely had no effect on her and she’ll continue to be rude unless someone addresses it that can make it important to her.

Looking for Christmas placemats, napkins and rings

  36. Darcy Colburn on August 7, 2023 at 4:35 pm

Can you tell me which video that had your meat grinder screwed to the kitchen window cell I would appreciate it thank you

  37. Tina Shockley on August 7, 2023 at 4:36 pm

Blue willow set like that adds up quick. However 199 used in a thrift store is a little much.

  38. Hummerfan on August 7, 2023 at 4:41 pm

Good for you, Julie! Guess people like that weren’t brought up right. Yes, so many rude people these days.

  39. Heather Eton on August 7, 2023 at 4:44 pm

I’m a sucker for Christmas stuff. $199 seems crazy to me. Maybe if it was brand new.

  40. wendy mills on August 7, 2023 at 4:46 pm

I work at a goodwill and it’s frustrating when people don’t let us finish our job when we bring new items out let us finish before swarming our carts

  41. Brenda Gaskill on August 7, 2023 at 4:46 pm

Besides the rudeness, those prices aren’t right either…

  42. Katrina Wilkins on August 7, 2023 at 4:47 pm

It is everywhere unfortunately. I have tried to use the excuse that is so hot here in Texas but that was very rude.

  43. Kit P on August 7, 2023 at 4:47 pm

Hi Julie. I liked the basket, the Christmas quilt, the bunny dish, the riser, the little basket at 6:26, the red basket and the candle holder trio. Will you be trying to do that basket mantle display that you were thinking of trying last year for the holidays this year? I look forward to seeing your holiday decore. Have a great week!

  44. Enid Castillo on August 7, 2023 at 4:48 pm

Omgosh Julie I saw this last nite and thought the same about the toilet coffee mug…just popped into the local salvation army store to kill a few minutes and behold the first thing I see is the toilet mug! 😂😂

  45. william taylor on August 7, 2023 at 4:48 pm

YOU ARE RIGHT AND THANK YOU YOU ARE WONDERFUL

  46. DAYNA SUMLER on August 7, 2023 at 4:50 pm

You need to look at the clear cake domes as cloches to put any type of vignette in. I use them for Christmas scenes. You can add snow and twinkle lights to them. It looks amazing!

  47. Stacey Walker on August 7, 2023 at 4:50 pm

Loved the quilt! Love watching your videos!

  48. Lisa Valentin on August 7, 2023 at 4:52 pm

Maybe the Goodwill worker was just trying to do her job and was having a difficult day herself? Can you imagine all the rude people she encounters daily? My local Goodwill discourages digging through the blue bins. It’s a thrift store that makes millions of dollars off free donated items and barely pays the staff minimum wage.

  49. Neena Morgan on August 7, 2023 at 4:53 pm

Hi Julie, I agree with you about the rudeness, but I dont think I could have held my tongue and been that nice.
