We are back with another DESIGN HACKS episode! If you find yourself stumped with a room and don’t know where to begin, start with the BIG picture. Lock down the essentials first, then layer accordingly. Styling might seem like the fun part, but if you don’t have the main pieces in place, your home decor will feel like an afterthought.

Julie I would like some ideas on how to make a small living room, dining room space appear larger. I currently use both spaces as a living room area but I want it to appear spacious, light walls and using my term casual elegance. A few ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I loved my cozy earth sheets when I first used them. But then they shrank so much its a struggle to make the bed – finally decided to move my queen set to my son’s full-size bed…

What a great mantra! You always have such good tips, Julie. We love finding unique pieces that have a story. Our dining table was custom built from 100 year old rail car floor boards and has a unique steel base. It’s always a conversation piece when people come over and I love thinking about how the wood got all of its character marks over the years. It’s also a piece we’ll have forever. We’ll make it work wherever we move. I’m excited for more videos in this series!

Does this ever happen to anyone else? Help! My home needs help indeed. With 3 kids under 5 I just want a home that has a peaceful feel. Not toys everywhere
