Alternatively, you can buy a house with a 900 bottle wine cellar and keep 16 bottles of wine in it. One day, we’ll rip out that useless wine storage and put in something practical. The only statement I want to make on wine is that I only use it if a recipe explicitly calls for it.

Great video! Always love your content. Building an investment property this year; we’re planning to incorporate a few of these trends for that new kitchen ☺️

  3. Bwl Rebell on January 13, 2023 at 3:24 am

Finally, a trends 2023 on YouTube that actually captures the trends. I assume that’s because you also looked at European trends. Being European I do feel that American interior design can be a little „behind“ at times. So, thanks for closing that gap. I was excited to see you mentioned pull out fridges. We just got one in 2022. Plus: no upper cabinets and an induction stove in our kitchen. Love your profound videos!

  4. Paola Lopez on January 13, 2023 at 3:24 am

Unless you’re talking about some new fancy induction stovetops then this is not true. Gas is so much more versatile and makes cooking so much easier.

  5. Pat Wilkinson on January 13, 2023 at 3:25 am

    Great video

  6. Bather on January 13, 2023 at 3:25 am

What I find really funny is that modern design is turning into my mid 2000s era sims kitchen.

  7. lizzys BEAUTY show etc. on January 13, 2023 at 3:27 am

I love my kitchen appliances that’s what makes a kitchen a kitchen and integrating them like pieces of furniture is so bland and boring.
What makes a home is distinctive home areas, interesting and homey is divine, but, living in a spaceship isn’t

  8. Jj K on January 13, 2023 at 3:28 am

Induction ranges: Get ready to trash all your nice pots and pans! This range top requires its own special cookware.

  9. rockshot100 on January 13, 2023 at 3:29 am

Yes, "Posh Pennies" is big on Posh today, but low on pennies. However I can glean a few insights here. Not not many of these examples even look like kitchens, but hotel check ins. I guess that is the trend? These kitchens are outlandishly expensive and nobody watching could begin to afford them. A small under the cabinet wine fridge is bad enough, but those glassed in rooms showcasing a wine collection is just tacky and garish. I would be actually ashamed to have those in my house and wouldn’t want to know anybody who had to show off like this.

  10. diva on January 13, 2023 at 3:29 am

Thank you for these beautiful ideas 😊

  11. Chiquita on January 13, 2023 at 3:30 am

Induction stoves run on electricity right? Good luck with that electric bill and swapping out all your pots so they work on it.

  12. Elle Picauly on January 13, 2023 at 3:31 am

Hi! I’m furnishing a new apartment while not living there yet. I really tried sticking to a colour scheme and doing things right. However… I think I might have too much dark brown furniture now for a small space and a huge heavily patterened rug without the budget to reverse what I’ve done. I’m afraid the rooms now will look really cluttered, dark and stressful😅 while I wanted a nice, cosy and light feeling to my new home. Does anyone know some trouble shooting to solve this without costing too much? I would be so grateful!! 💛

  13. Pedro Porto on January 13, 2023 at 3:31 am

Love your lipstick color. Have you tried more warm colors? I think it will fits you greatly!

  14. Arna Alayne on January 13, 2023 at 3:33 am

Love that you reference both euro and American design preferences!

  15. Canon on January 13, 2023 at 3:36 am

Honestly, the white kitchens NEED to disappear. There’s no creativity or warmth in them and I’m tired of seeing them. It’s far past time to get rid of them for something more organic or colorful that’s inviting and interesting. Let’s move on. lol That includes the Calcutta marble. Oiy I’m so over that.

  16. Arna Alayne on January 13, 2023 at 3:36 am

Also, you’re the first YouTuber I’ve seen highlight Skinny Shakers 👏🏻 I noticed that trend really starting to gain momentum late last year and I’m considering for our own kitchen!

  17. Janice Tribbiani on January 13, 2023 at 3:38 am

Love this! and I’m so glad you pronounced Calacatta correctly~ 😀

  18. emiliebova on January 13, 2023 at 3:38 am

I do like a silent dishwasher. And bring on the wood tones. I am sick of grey and white kitchens.

Great video! As someone living in Europe, I appreciate that you mentioned the differences. It’s actually hard to find a traditional cooking stove in my country, almost everyone is using induction. Same with the cabinetry styles. I love the Swedish brand that you mentioned – we’re currently designing our kitchen and we chose off-white minimalistic cabinets with no handles. We’re going to combine them with some statement marble – I love calacatta viola, so we’re most likely to choose it at the moment. As for the kitchen fixtures, I really wanted to have a pot filler, but they’re not popular in our country and our architect was confused 😀 For the island – marble plus some wood panels underneath, Japandi style. I’m not sure what shade of wood we should choose – the floor is light rustic oak, so we’re thinking of something similar. Overall we’re hoping to achieve a luxurious yet minimalistic kitchen. I loved the "marble garage", something I’ve never seen before. Now I need to mention it to our architect to see if it’s even possible with our cabinetry. Thanks for all the ideas, your videos help us go through the process! 💜

  20. Key Lime on January 13, 2023 at 3:43 am

Love all of these trends! My fave trends to date! Quartz has some fab marble looks at lower prices & no maintenance.

  21. Thaddeus Stevens on January 13, 2023 at 3:44 am

The integrated trend makes your kitchen look so cold. Its like living on a space station.

  22. pinkfreud62 on January 13, 2023 at 3:44 am

Homes looking more like offices, lobbies & waiting rooms. Just not very homey.

  23. Davine Ung on January 13, 2023 at 3:44 am

I hope your channel blow you have good videos. 2023 is yours

  24. Harmony on January 13, 2023 at 3:45 am

Don’t get the wine storage trend as most people now drink so much less. Some lovely ideas here. I’d love to be bold with worktops and colours. 🙏

Kitchens for wealthy who don’t cook.

Your thoughts on wood grain on kitchen cabs: horizontal vs. vertical for mid century modern/modern????

  28. A K on January 13, 2023 at 3:52 am

Thank you for speaking calmly. Some of the other interior designers tales too much, too fast and don’t breathe which causes me anxiety.
    Great channel 👍

  29. Francine H. on January 13, 2023 at 3:53 am

That blue marble is honestly the most stunning stone I’ve ever seen!! Absolutely beautiful.

  30. Thomas Ebert on January 13, 2023 at 3:56 am

Eroupean style kitchen feels cold and unappetizing. I doubt it will gain popularity in North America

  31. F Burd on January 13, 2023 at 3:56 am

Thank you for your lovely video – informative and thoughtful as always. You have certainly helped me to understand various aspects of interior design, which has helped shape my own home projects. I pressed the thumbs down icon by accident (!) – was aiming for the thumbs up! I hope this didn’t register, as it certainly wasn’t meant to be negative – quite the opposite infact!

Great content! Decorative toe kicks is something I’ve not seen before…thanks!

  33. Intro to Music on January 13, 2023 at 3:59 am

Europeans cook and bake some of the best food on the planet without designer kitchens or appliances, and often take their cabinets with them when they move. Maybe Americans could learn how to do more with less, too.

  34. Janina Wąż on January 13, 2023 at 3:59 am

Induction stoves seem little more than a tech fad. I’d need to replace 2/3rds of my cooking vessels. Induction stoves/hobs don’t work with glass, solid ceramic, copper, nor a lot of my best stainless steel cookware. Several things I make regularly are best made in glass, ceramic, or copper.

I can’t afford to rebuy 2/3 of the cookware I’ve been slowly collecting since I was 17. Nor would I want to, since many of them are gifts or inherited from family. It’s not very eco friendly either.

Induction stoves don’t seem to work that much better than a decently robust electric stove. I f I had the money and space for an second 4 burner cooktop in my kitchen, I *might* get a induction one. Maybe.

Only way to keep wine is in the old dusty cellar in provincial France.

  38. Willi on January 13, 2023 at 4:05 am

So basically the trend for 2023 is “if the middle class is battling with inflation and recession, we’ll just focus on the top 1% instead. Here’s a garage for your toaster made from the most expensive marble we could find”

  39. Kata on January 13, 2023 at 4:06 am

Fantastic video! I’m not replacing my ikea kitchen anytime soon but it is interesting to see what’s out there. Much love from Hungary

  40. no name on January 13, 2023 at 4:11 am

Those wine storage examples were way over the top!! Wowza.

  41. Make Cool Stuff on January 13, 2023 at 4:11 am

Love the channel!! Please do a show on where to buy inexpensive wall art. I know that you have covered this topic in a past show but I would very much appreciate more detail and specific online art sites that you would recommend.

  42. Tracy C on January 13, 2023 at 4:11 am

Gorgeous kitchens! I’m loving the trends. While I would love to redo my kitchen there are some things I can do to refresh and update. Thank you for this video! It’s very helpful!

  43. Melissa Huynh on January 13, 2023 at 4:12 am

I’ve been in the middle of a slow-moving house gut remodel and designed it to be as easy to maintain as possible while also trying to maximize functionality and make my short ceilings look more spacious and taller while trying to incorporate as much natural light as possible. In the end the design came out to be very European-like unintentionally. For example I chose a porcelain slab (so much cheaper than marble!) for the backsplash because I hate cleaning grout. I also chose no hardware and flat drawer panels bc too much hardware is distracting in my eyes visually and let’s be real, I just want it easy to clean. I went so far with this whole everything has to be easy to clean that I managed to find a sink that has no seam for the drain hole. I also chose to do no uppers bc looking at the original kitchen with uppers made everything feel like a dark cave. Doesn’t help that the kitchen has northern facing light. We’re also incorporating banquette seating in the peninsula to save space in the dining area because it’s quite small and doesn’t make sense for a centered table. I also chose induction for the range bc.. you guessed it, it’s easy to clean. But also because future proofing! Unfortunately the markup on induction in the US is probably a turn off to most people. Anyways all this to say, I really do think the Europeans (and actually Asian is very similar in design philosophy) have the whole meshing of functionality and ease of lifestyle down to perfection.

So useful! We are planning our kitchen now and there are so many beautiful ideas here 😃❤

    Love the new looks!!!

  46. Julie Fowler on January 13, 2023 at 4:14 am

Induction is amazing! I’ll never go back!

  47. Elena on January 13, 2023 at 4:14 am

Love that you pick up on the differences between american and european design. Would be interesting to highlight differenes in other design areas. For example, no one does panelling on their walls here in germany.

  48. frenchfan on January 13, 2023 at 4:15 am

I’ve heard induction ranges are not the best quality, even very expensive brands. My friend had her new induction range broke in 4 months and she was waiting 6 months for replacement part.

  49. kathi gable on January 13, 2023 at 4:15 am

I’m trying to figure out how to add task lighting when there are no upper cabinets… ideas?

  50. Geoff Smiley on January 13, 2023 at 4:20 am

Great video, Happy New Year 😄 the wine cellars look overdone, difficult to make them feel like they don’t belong in a McMansion.
