Van Life: At 55 She Met "Darkest Night Of Her Soul" And Changed Her Life

Van Life: At 55 She Met "Darkest Night Of Her Soul" And Changed Her Life

#vanlife, #rvliving,#solofemalevanlife, #gloriouslifeonwheels,
Have you ever looked at your life and decided your present wasn’t what you wanted for your future? The part time senior solo female van life enthusiast in this video, Lulu, did just that and drastically changed her life. Included in that life change was a diy minivan conversion that allowed her to use her imagination to create a tiny house on wheels that best suits her needs.
In this video Lulu shares some of the details about her decision to build out her tiny home minivan. In a follow up video coming out in a few days I will do a tour of Lulu’s minivan. She constructed a brilliant diy budgrt refrigerator that I know many folks out their are going to duplicate. When I saw it all I could think was, “Now why didn’t I ever think of that when I was buying ice and dealing with soggy food when I first started traveling in my van before it was builtout!!” If you have a brilliant idea for a refrigerator or any other item in a diy build do share it in the comments.

I really appreciated hearing about liking to have your own food, knife, utensils, etc. And how it’s so much better that way than in hotels, etc.
I feel exactly, exactly the same way. But I had never heard anyone put it into words so clearly, or at all for that matter.
I guess I hadn’t yet put it into words myself, so it made it specially interesting hearing it that way.

Just joined your channel. Your a great uplifting person, and good information for me. Thank you totally agree with this lady. I’d not sell my God given home. I do my own food, and love travels and camping. Yep, don’t need much.

Thank you so much for interviewing Lulu. I really resonated with her values and her sensibilities regarding traveling and living a very minimalistic life. and when she hit that breaking point of looking into her future that was really incredibly poignant. I look forward to the tour of her home and I think that would be awesome to get with a group of women and go to every national Park and take a year to do it sounds incredible. So again thank you for a very rich joyful interview and have a beautiful day.

Great interview with 2 interesting women. I would like to see the travelling map (US National Parks) Lulu talks about, please 🙂 Waiting to view the inside of the van. 🤩

Lulu you could keep your van and have a pop top fitted. They are good because you can pop the top when you need to stand and have more space, but you can keep the top down when you want to be stealthy or the weather is bad. I have a small van with a pop top and love sleeping upstairs in the Summer. It’s much cooler on hot nights if you open the mesh windows to allow an air flow. I made thermal covers from fleece and refletix to line the pop top. This helps keep it warm in Winter and cool in Summer. They also help keep the noise and light out so it’s easy to have a lie in. During the day the upstairs bed can be pushed back and there is an area at the front that can be used to store things that maybe cluttering up the living area of the van. Here in the UK we have alot of height barriers on car parks and many of these pop top vans have the advantage of being able to drive under them. Unfortunately I opted for a 4×4 van (which sit higher) so I am about 2cm too tall for most. Hope my suggestion helps, it would be a shame to get rid of such a beautiful van. I do something similar with my fridge. It’s a fridge freezer but not big enough. Like you I keep those freezer packs in the freezer and have a cool box to keep extra food in that won’t fit in the fridge. I rotate the freezer packs daily.

Full time and part time car, van and truck dwellers are the new norm numbering in the millions. Our society is based on brick and mortar communities. What happens when we no longer fit a tax based demographic?

    Hi Carol!
Good to see you both ❤

Lulu, I beg you to answer this question. I don’t drink or smoke (live in NH—lol), but I’m obese. For various reasons, I CAN’T be any longer.

Would you mind sharing w/us how you lost the weight? If you have an IG account I could give you my username name so you could message me (DM) there. I’m 62, btw.

Just don’t feel comfortable leaving my email here. Ty for considering it; maybe help me AND others. To powerful women with courage!

    Fondly,~Marirose NH

Are you crazy! Our bodies at our age are not meant to stand up to hundreds of miles of travel in that short an amount of time. Good for you, but it time to rest a little. I love your videos. It feels like you’re speaking right to me. God bless you. Safe travels.

  35. Deb Blucher on November 1, 2022 at 8:20 am

You are amazing. If I didn’t have the health issues I have, I would be loving to connect with you in van life! Take care Lulu!

Wonderful interview. Lulu is charming. I’m 70 and built out my Promaster City van in 2018. It’s tiny, but like Lulu, I feel very comfortable: it’s a bit like being in a cocoon. I’ve traveled all over the USA. Happy trails Lulu, I hope to meet down the road sometime.

Hi glowie c. I cant hardly here her talk. This lady is a genius. Wow. Now thats a strong lady. Her job did her a favor. Gave her a chance to get a van to travel now. Enjoy vanlife and freedom. She has a better choice now to live her life. May god bless her and you to carolyn. And all the nomads out there. You have a home on wheels. Best part is your home is with you wherever you go. Love it. Love this kind of videos. Love you all. Oh. She has a very nice van. She is such a pleasant kind lady. Whata gal.

I’m commenting on the van tour here because it will not work under the tour video. Lulu is my idol-I am 65 and she is the only person that I wish to be like. I hope she has a channel or facebook or someway for us to stay in touch. I have given up the alcohol/cigarettes & weed but I am swelling up like a balloon. I have a van and my companion dog but terrified of going alone on the road. Looking for a mentor 🙏🙏🙏💞

Are there any videos where we can see how she prepares a meal? I am guessing she follows a weighed and measured food plan perhaps a 12 step program I’d love to see how she does that in there especially when it’s raining outside. What she cooks with etc.

  50. Deb Blucher on November 1, 2022 at 8:43 am

I totally resonate with her. Omg
