I’m curious about what you, or most of the others do for "work" while they are on the road? Cheers!

  7. Alex Viller on April 16, 2022 at 6:33 pm

I really enjoyed watching your video , very detailed and interesting I didn’t even forwarded . I’m 35 now I start to catch my self that In my thoughts I’m away back in the days when I was snowboarding all winter through had roller skates and forest walks all summer through … I have realised that my every day work and exactly how you said has made me feel unhappy inside , im not that kind of person to complain it’s just nice to see other human being happy 👍

I have been wanting to do this for the past 20 years waiting on an electric Van. My buckled list was visited the Nation Park for the last 10 years.
Now the F150 truck with a pull Cap of 11 TPD almost line up to do it? GOD, Willing.

  9. FreshCoastDon on April 16, 2022 at 6:35 pm

The way you have your mountain bike mounted exactly how I want mine, lol. Dig the setup and your view of van life. Stay safe! Subbed!!

love your vids, about to start my van build project. will take years to build out of pocket but a dream for me on the last 10 years to work and camp.

Hey! Thanks so much for watching. This is my first video and I’ve had a lot of fun with it. A lot more videos are coming your way, so stay tuned!

If you have any Van Life questions, drop them below and I’ll do my best to answer.

In the meantime, I want to know – What inspires you about the van lifestyle?

  12. Nomad Unbroken on April 16, 2022 at 6:39 pm

It’s awesome to see an honest perception. I came to YouTube with my other channel because of the advise people were giving here and Instagram vibe. I’ve been full time for two years and I’ve part timed for months at a time since 99 and it saddens me to see people get discouraged after actually jumping in because of bad advise and depiction.

God this storytelling is beautiful, thanks for sharing this. Means a lot.

  15. Cooper on April 16, 2022 at 6:40 pm

I love this honesty and somber tone. Too often I meet people who think that a lifestyle change will change them as a person.

    Safe travels!

Hey Scott, cool vid! I’ll be buying some stuff from your links to support your channel. I have the Sony 6600 and almost the same lenses as you. I was looking for the laptop base in your links, which one is it? I have been wanting to buy one but there are so many options! Also, do you have a pc aside from your laptop or do you work only from the laptop? And lastly, what setting did you use in this vid? LUT? Sorry for the so many questions, I WANT to LEARN everything *presto* (Oh, I’m about to go full time in my 22’ little rv, that’s how I found your vid). Thank you!

  21. chase wyatt on April 16, 2022 at 6:51 pm

Well done!! So much of what you said about the reasons to van life resonated with me. Especially the freedom to go and do the things you enjoy. That is the number one reason I chose to live in a van. I like to summer on Cape Cod and winter in California. Cape Cod rent is astronomical so the van eases that expense. And when in Ca I want to enjoy the different zones from the desert to the mountains to the beach. Thanx for sharing your adventure and hope to meet you in SoCa this winter. Chase

  25. Brooke Seaman on April 16, 2022 at 6:53 pm

I did my first build by myself in 3 weeks! 🙂 Plan loosely, start with your priorities, have fun with the rest! Half the stuff you think you want/need you really don’t.

  26. razz P on April 16, 2022 at 6:55 pm

"Van isn’t the thing that will make you happy, you have to use the van to do the things that will make you happy."

Very thoughful, what if you just want to save money and not have to commute to work. Would that be reason enough?

  27. misskaayle on April 16, 2022 at 6:56 pm

This makes me so happy and emotional. I’m currently saving up for a van with my partner, and these are the exact experiences I do want. to experience. I grew up thinking travel was a luxury because I didn’t get to travel too much and felt that that was far away for me. It’s so scary and exciting but I know it’s coming. Thank you sharing this video.

  28. Nomad Unbroken on April 16, 2022 at 6:57 pm

Btw, your video showed up on my home page, you’re going to go somewhere, you’ve only just begun

Van-life is tough. I spent a month in a van with 3 others (tight). Thanks for being much more honest about it than many YouTubers. So many videos available about $30,000 conversions in $30,000 vans. Making it all seem like glam.

I must add that I backpacked for over a year right after the van-life. I miss the experience tremendously, that’s what brought me here. It was the hardest time of my life. Many tears and lots of laughter too. I’m grateful for my experiences making me a betterman. Now I own stuff and am going to get a bigger house with my family to fit more stuff. I don’t enjoy owning things like I did before my travels. I hope my kids will be inspired to see the world like I did and you do.

Thank you for sharing and allowing me to share as well.

  36. Lumber Jaxe on April 16, 2022 at 7:04 pm

Hi Scott, you seem relaxed, Humble and content. Inspirational video mate, Thanks for Sharing.

  37. Cole Geiger on April 16, 2022 at 7:05 pm

Scott, let me start off by saying what an amazing and well put together video! I really enjoyed it. I’m 20 years old and currently saving up for a van. I’ve been fortunate to see a lot of the west and nationals parks all over North America because of my great parents. I live in Pennsylvania and I am and avid outdoorsman with a love for fly fishing and skiing. My parents support me so much and want me to travel and go see places because they know that makes me the happiest. I just don’t know where to start at for this van life. I’m not a bad carpenter but I have no clue about vehicles and solar panels and setting up half of the stuff. Any tips? I’d greatly appreciate them. Maybe one day I’ll see you in some national park!

I LOVE the dog … what a beauty!!!

  43. matrixevoluc on April 16, 2022 at 7:11 pm

In your Vid you said the main reason of why I want to try this lifestyle and the main reason that block me to do it. I see the van as a tool; a way to do what you want where you want, but I don’t feel like my actual lifestyle need to be in a van to do it. I can do what I like (climbing moutains, exploring, bikes and longboard) with a 2 hours roads max from my actual house. However, I actually don’t have any study, I got a 40h job for now but I don’t see myself leaving the classical 40h/weeks at the same place for 4 weeks of vacation/year. I want to take the time the world give me to explore, to see, to live an be happy. Do you thing I should give it a go? Also what’s your job to do it in a van?

Btw sorry for my bad english 🙂

  44. Ivan Wheatman on April 16, 2022 at 7:12 pm

Thanx for sharing Scott, great to hear the same thoughts and reasons. I got really passionate about the vanlife idea, especially being a self-employed freelancer in Europe, and now am researching everything on the topic and planning a music videos on the road project. A great video, wish u best of luck!

  45. Kat on April 16, 2022 at 7:12 pm

Love your first video. Not sure why anyone thought you implied a rough life when you were young-you were very clear. Thanks for sharing and being honest.

I’ve really enjoyed your videos!! I have not purchased a van to convert yet, but can you tell me your opinion on the radio/nav display in yours (is it worth it to get all the extras (i.e, bluetooth, camera, etc). Did you get on-board nav or do you use garmin or phone mostly? Do you have factory installed back up camera? Do both your front seats rotate (I will also need to work during the day during vanlife and think different seating arrangements make it easier than bench seats all day)? Tx, David
