Just left there about 4 weeks ago . Go south through Galveston across a $2 toll bridge and the beaches are free again. Then on down to mustang island or north padre also free….
I live an hour away and my first time there I got a virus for 3 months 😭
You have to buy a beach pass now, but it’s like $10 and is good for a year.

Jamaica Beach was one of my absolute favorites! Glad you got to go on the fairy as well. I know the water isn’t a pretty blue like you may expect, but it’s a hell of a beauty on its own. Cheers on your future endeavors!

Not sure where you went in Galveston where there were no beach camping spots but there’s over 20 miles of free beach camping west of Galveston going towards Surfside on the Brazoria County Beach, or Aka Folletts Island. If you want further down head toward Bryan Beach park opposite side of Surfside. There’s entrances to the beach area that don’t require entrance into the beach park. The point is to get to the drive on beach and there again are miles and miles of free beach camping. These areas are always WAYYYYY less crowded than Bolivar Flats.
