Have you ever thought about vanlife in Hawaii? Does the idea of camping on beaches and living in a van down by the ocean sound perfect to you? Well, thanks to our friends @thesolbergs, we were able to give vanlife in Hawaii a try this week in their adorable 1973 Volkswagen campervan named Clementine! Vanlife in Hawaii definitely isn’t easy (it takes lots of planning to find a good, legal camping spot), but if you’re able to work a few nights of campervan camping on Maui into your Hawaii agenda, we can’t recommend Clementine enough. Great idea Chris, best Birthday gift EVER😃. MAUI is my favorite Hawaiian island, but this VW is awesome and really takes me back to my hitch hiking teenage days. So beautiful the morning and everything. Can’t wait for the next episode.

Oh, this brought back so many memories! We had a VW Westfalia pop up camper when I was growing up, and it is what I believe laid the foundation for the desire to do vanlife for me. When you showed the engine in the back, I remember as a really small child we accidentally got locked out of the van (keys inside), and I was little enough to shimmy through the engine space and into the inside (there was a secret door under the back of the bed that went into the engine compartment) to unlock the doors.
Ours also had a sink, fridge, closets (also with a mirror), a pedestal table, and another bed up top where the pop up is. (Ours popped up towards the front though, and the sink, fridge, and cabinets were on the driver’s side instead of the passenger side.) When I was really young there was a hammock bed that stretched across the driver and passenger section where I slept until I got too big; after that my brother and I slept up top while our parents slept down below. It is so wonderful to see you appreciate all the features of this van, and to showcase it for your friends. I hope many of your viewers will book a stay and enjoy it as well.

Chris and Sara. I owned a Westfalia when I was in College. Traveled all up and down the Ca coastline, went to Mexico, so much fun. SURFED the coast and met so many great people. They are some of my favorite experiences. Have a great time in Hawaii. 😎👍🙋♂️

This brought back such memories! My parents owned a 73 VW Westfalia van. They took all 4 of us kids across the US and back in 1975. I have very fond memories of that trip but I’m not sure they do. 😂
I had a BF in high school 1973 that had a similar van. It was yellow.🤣
He called it the "Yellow Love Bug"…..we dated for about 2 weeks. He wanted me to drive with him to California to swim in the ocean once and drive back, to Missouri. He ended up staying in Cali. Needless to say, I didn’t go. Clementine is a beauty. 😁👍❤🎄

What i would do to leave Chattanooga for Hawaii! But my birthday is in February and my MIL surprised me with paying for our Disney World Trip in February! With 2 preschoolers this is the perfect trip! 💙❤💛
The fact that her name was Clementine is kismet. Our first dog Story (for Astoria, Oregon).was listed at the shelter as Clementine and we knew she was ours. We adopted her right after our honeymoon ❤
Heeeeeyyyyy, y’all were in our neck of the woods!! 🙌 Safe travels to Hawaii!! Funny, Clementine also happens to be the name of the Endless Adventure’s RV! 😮 Driving tip 7:35: to lessen wear and stress on the mechanical steering linkages, allow the camper van to slightly roll move forward, or backward if in reverse, when turning the wheel. This will also make steering the van easier.
A way to see HI that I have never considered. Looked fantastic, and considering the year round weather a great idea. Good bye expensive hotels!
Now the problem is that you will want to keep going back and back until you finally sell your Chattanooga house and move to Hawaii permanently.
