Where Nomads Camp Free In The Summer: Snowbird Schedule Part 4
Where Nomads Camp Free In The Summer: Snowbird Schedule Part 4
Where can you camp for free in the summer and also have it cool enough you can stay comfortable without air conditioning? If you’re a snowbird, it’s very easy, In this video we look ar high-elevation areas in National Forests where the temperatures will be acceptable all summer. The key thing is to be above 6000 feet as a minimum and more than 7500 is far better. Above 9000 feet guarantees a very pleasant summer with low temperatures.

I have an important question. I think the reason why nomads disperse in the summer is because there is no other 6 month LTVA for SUMMER TIME in the whole USA. Somebody please tell me I’m wrong.
I cannot begin to thank you enough for all the great information you share with us !
Thank you kindly for ALL of your great and carefully thought out information ! You are a treasure SIR !! Thank You ! Thank You !! 😊
Step one .Get the hell away from heat .
Hi Bob!! Thank you!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You are 100% correct I have been from coast to coast MANY MANY times and the west is the best always . The East does not begin to compare to the west
When do the monsoons come??
Your video advice is always so helpful to everyone 👍🙏❤️🙅
Love your videos! The wife and I are preparing to go nomad in the future, and your vids are helping her overcome her trepidations. I trucked most of my life, so I really miss being on the road. We live now near Tionesta, Pa. where the Allegheny National Forest is. We love it here and think that someday when you’re out East, you may wish to check it out. Keep up the videos, you do a fine job.
I need to leave now… March 22, where can I spend a few weeks!
Michigan state parks and forests
Would you be open to discussing the road quality in the forests and BLM land? My Class A has been on many dirt roads in forests and BLM land—-however not all of those roads are created equal. Thank you.
Yaaay Bob! I feel like going all the way to the East Coast now!
Great video😍
Looks like we’re headed to flagstaff next. Thanks, it’s so hot in Tucson
Hope. What a beautiful message. Thank you.
I’m bin watching all your snowbird videos!
Priceless information!
Thank you so very much !
Interesting, early October I’ll be looking for an RV and leave Can.
I just moved from lake isabella/wofford heights , calif.
Thank you for mentioning the heart and lung issue at higher elevations. It is very important info for those of us with health problems! Great video.
You are an inspiration!! I will be doing this when my daughter graduates from college I can’t take her home from her. Thanks for all you do,,your videos make living and working and planning a little less painful. I NEED to do this soon good luck with everything Imlooking forward to meeting you all!!!
I live in coastal NC, not far from the SC state line. Are there any FREE camping places within an hour’s driving from here? I’d like to begin practicing camping in my car.
Can you or someone list the places that are in these cool areas but low fire danger as well for summer? I love Arizona never been there but want to try it as my mother grew up there and loved it so : ) much. I am from a high fire area of California and am tired of getting evacuated or moving because of long summer fires : ( help please
Bob if from Florida where to go in the. Summer
I agree the west is the best in the summer !!!!!
I guess I’ll head to Quartzsite. Help please
This is really helpful.
Thank you.
Love the way you explained this. so helpful
What do you do for fire wood?
Thank you thank you thank you Bob ive been using your advice and tips for the past 4 years all over southwest and southeast downtown to keywest and back to suburbs of Milwaukee Wisconsin… again thank you for all the knowledge and information safe travels this summer during the world events. Stay far out beyond the Grid
What if you have to work?
How do you choose 2 places?
Anyone with any kind of health problems with breathing should reconsider any elevation rise where the air is thinner this is kinda critical to those folks .thanks for mentioning that Bob.
In 2020 idaho national forests were closed off…could happen again…there and elsewhere
Who else is watching in early 2021???
As always, very informative video.
Keep ’em coming.
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the state of Maine are good places to go to escape the heat of summer
great video. thank you for sharing
Can you do a video on how snowbirds get their mail while moving about, especially for us who get our meds from the Veterans Admin etc.
I’m back. This series is so engaging and inspiring.
Wait, if you go up aren’t you closer to the sun? LOL
Bob, come to Michigan’s upper peninsula. It is absolutely beautiful.
Epic inspiring talk ❤👏👏👏
What state do you use as residency? Im finding it difficult to avoid having to go back to anywhere or have to choose between either high vehicle usage property tax or yearly vehicle emissions.
Well even in higher elevation in AZ this Summer so far has been like hell like everywhere else not to mention the food and gas inflation. Figures this was my first year to get to Az and now not working out. 😐
Good info though. Someone please invent a better app to find campsites with directions for the newbies! Roamfree sucks 😝
Very interesting, you said about all the places are a two week stay ! But how long till you can go back again?
Been camping in the east for many years. Many Great places to camp and stay cool. Follow the Appalachia chain and find the high elevations and camp in the abundant shade provided by the leafy trees, if you do get hot in the afternoon,, jump in one of the many rivers,, creeks or lakes to cool off. Night time gets cool and comfortable in the mountains back east.
Please advise. I need to find a place to camp for a few weeks.(NOW)
FYI……higher isn’t always cooler. I live in WA state and one summer it was HOT in Olympia. We decided to go to Mt. Rainier thinking it would be cooler. WRONG. It was just as hot there as it was in Olympia. Better to go to the coast.
I’m really concentrating on getting solar before January 2023, I really want to go to Arizona for my 59th birthday, and every birthday following.
Thank you Bob
Great series.
Good stuff!
Good info. I think I may spend all of summer 2021 around Flagstaff since I want to keep costs way down and not travel too much still due to covid. Plenty of things to see around the area, all within about an hour or less from town. Moving around mid-week means I can settle into a good spot before the weekenders show up. And with the money I save on fuel while there, if I get sick of it or have to leave due to wildfires or something, I can head elsewhere in a hurry if I need to suddenly.
