This was fun. I like comparing the two experiences.

And the number one negative thing about van life is….

Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie, lol.

If you think couple life is normally stressful, just put 2 people in a sardine can for months at a time.

  3. Rutger MacDonald on December 28, 2021 at 1:33 pm

Mileage also varies depending on how you look, how old your van is, and weather it looks like you have money or not. City governments and their hired guns (cops) love to harass poor people living in vans.

30$ a day is more than I make with a full time job as a high-school science teacherπŸ˜…… didn’t realise its this expensive to be homeless

  16. luis rivera on December 28, 2021 at 1:47 pm

Ive heard of people having gym memberships just for the use of showers and bathrooms, the thought of a bear breaking a window and ripping a door open while you sleep is enough to make me stay home…

  17. All Things Harbor on December 28, 2021 at 1:48 pm

Purchase a funnel specially made to assist women with urinating into a plastic water or soft drink bottle. When finished, put the lid on the bottle and toss the bottle into a trash can. Surely you keep a package of baby wipes for hygiene purposes ? Use that to wipe funnel and put it away. I have also used take out cups, but those lids are not as secure and have that cut out for straws, so leaks or spills can happen. Then again, a take out cup can work great for the other type of ‘outgo’ and can be placed into a sturdy ziplock bag for the trash. If there is a will then there is a way.

I bought a Toyota hiace hitop for AUD$14k. Budget option. It has a high top and good windows so I am comfortable working in the rain and can cook inside (just not smelly food). The mileage was 687k so yours is not high at all. Can’t sleep legally on the streets or in a parking lot in Australia (I don’t understand the American fascination with parking lots), so am always safe in a campsite (free or paid). As for the toilet, get yourself a porta potti and a wee tube. It’s a closable tube with a funnel (not just the funnel, they are terrible) good for a pee in the night. Porta potti for emergency poos

Gel earplugs – Resistor 32 50-pack of the orange ones so you can find them. When it stops squishing, get a new pair. Also blublox REMedy Sleep Masks allows you to blink in complete darkness. I bought two and love them

As a motorcyclist, the idea of the loaded rooftop pod coming adrift on the road is beyond scary. My Dad as a longtime RV’r, always had his checklist taped to the steering wheel to consult before departure. Awning, hoses, power, chocks, everything.

Living in a van sucks? Who would have thought? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  35. Renee M on December 28, 2021 at 2:11 pm

worried about serial killers…obviously never saw Halloween movies if you’re not worried about them in camp sites….Just sayin!
I would NEVER be able to share that tiny space with anyone. I could see dragging crap in and out all the time annoying on its own. I would’ve waited to afford something bigger for sure!

  43. summerwinter2012 on December 28, 2021 at 2:20 pm

what kind of van were you thinking about?

  44. Phuckin Drummer on December 28, 2021 at 2:21 pm

Wonderful video, although you should have tools and knowledge of how to pre-trip and post-trip inspection of your own vehicle, making repairs on your own is vital versus waiting to be saved by a mechanic.
Consider a medical emergency as a probability, and knowing you can get your loved one to medical aid by being capable of repairing your own transportation is crucial.
Doctors learn about anatomy before starting surgery (for example),
but the need for social acceptance and YouTube financial gains causes some to leap before looking at the deadly consequences of their actions. (Snake bite, broken bones, severe laceration etc) all are absolutely possible and waiting for help may be a poor decision compared to being able to get to help on your own, because you have knowledge and are prepared for the flat tires, radiator leaks, transmission, engine, brakes and suspension problems that are guaranteed to happen as all vehicles age.
    Peace.

  45. Vrinder DOE on December 28, 2021 at 2:23 pm

What van is this? And how big is it, if I may ask?

  46. Mike Workman on December 28, 2021 at 2:25 pm

The fact that you guys don’t have a small generator is insane. You should have a small APU that also has an A/C compressor on it, which will connector to an a/c unit that you put on the roof. Then also you should have a small heater with a propane tank that also goes in the back hanging from your rear door. How the hell do you cool the inside at night? Just let the van run all night? I’m so confused.
Why not just get fast food or other pre made food. I don’t understand the reasoning to make the food everyday.
Oh, also why would you not have a power cord to also plug in at the campsite. I heard you say only free places. They wouldn’t have RV plug in jacks. You guys are messed up.

"Just imagin living in your bed" 60% of college students know 🀣🀣🀣

  48. John Parkside on December 28, 2021 at 2:26 pm

    ?? Duhh..
It’s simple.. Go camping and NOT for a day for a couple of days even to a camp ground.. where they have hook up power and water and the bathrooms a few blocks over IF the even have that.. Try that for about a week or 2.. THEN see if you like it or not.. IF you do.. Ok then Go try van life for a little stretch.. IF it sucked(like for me) Don’t even bother.. noticed i need a mobile home.. with a satellite connection..

I think i’ll go for a old school bush conversion..

  49. chriss4365 on December 28, 2021 at 2:28 pm

If it sucks then why do you do it? Very starnage you have the same van that Gabby Petito was using.

  50. my surly trucker on December 28, 2021 at 2:29 pm

I use a Citroen C1 micro camper take out the passenger seat then front to back is your bed .
