    I’ve seen a lot of ideas about the Raised counter bar on pinterest. I think this one will be trending for at least two years or so, especially for small homes. And btw, I love your compilation trends, it’s inspiring.

    How do you convince your husband who couldn’t careless as l am a super everything clean lines & simplicity ,modern white with neutral tones ,minimalist ,Marika ,love your utube advises

    If you live in a sunny place, you WANT blackout drapes OR blacking window coverings to eliminate 100% of the daylight or nighttime light pollution. Heavy drapes also temper outside noises. A bedroom at least should be a refuge from the outside. Just make sure that when you want the drapes open then to have them pulled out of the way. Simple as that. Hint number one: See it on HGTV, Home Depot or Pottery Barn, run and don’t walk away.

  4. RobinBird J on March 26, 2023 at 9:39 am

    THIS IS ME. Word lover…I’m reworking my word signs. I’ve loved words in my home since before it was a wall decal trend. It IS my artwork, along with photos. I’ll probably put you two on my wall as well in my YouTube wall gallery section ( I love faces). I’ll pretend we’re friends, and if you come over someday, you can tell me again that word art is dead. LOL

  8. Cristina C. on March 26, 2023 at 9:44 am

    “I’m coming for your oars!”…. 😂😂😂😂😂 I literally replayed that over and over and laughed every time…

    #11 – Barn doors.
    #12 – Shiplap

    Basically anything that comes out of Waco, Texas.

  10. Pet Granny on March 26, 2023 at 9:48 am

    Signage – always horrible; art – local artists are great and often affordable; no warm colors for me; very fortunate to have floors with a matte finish – when I bought the home; only sheers on my windows – no rear neighbors; who wants to move a gazillion pillow to go to bed; made curtain rods from electrical conduit – simple clean, easy and affordable on a 15 ft window!;

  11. Cindy Duensing on March 26, 2023 at 9:48 am

    Signage is nice. Tuscan is awesome! High gloss is great! Heavy drapes are nice, as long as you can open them up. I think modern SUCKS! Good riddance rod iron! A lot of different size pillows is ridiculous. Some themed rooms are good. All this new design feels and looks cold. The older way is more cozy and inviting and warm. Give me that any day. I’m shocked that you didn’t mention grey. YUK! It seems like that is the latest thing. SMH! I say what ever churns your butter…go with that. Be an individual and don’t follow these new trends unless you like them, of course. If you like the 80’s hair look, DO IT! Don’t be a follower. Dance to your own beat. Be happy.

    Ohhhhh myyyy goooood…if I read oooone more comment that’s like “wahhh I like what I like and I’m gonna keep it that way cuz that’s style/design to me.” *pouty face

    News flash: if that’s how you truly feel, THEN WHY DID YOU CLICK ON A VIDEO WHOSE TITLE IS ABOUT TELLING YOU STYLE UPDATE TIPS?!?! 🤦🏻‍♂️ I swear you people are difficult for difficult’s sake sometimes.

    Great video, guys. Literally agreed with every point mentioned. 🙌

  16. kentuckianaboy on March 26, 2023 at 9:51 am

    Imagine this couple in 1982 critiquing interior fashions from the late 1970’s.

  17. PCF Rivera on March 26, 2023 at 9:52 am

    Enjoyed this! Y’all are so funny.

  18. Ruth Wuebbeling on March 26, 2023 at 9:53 am

    I love all your videos, especially when you tag team and we get both of your perspectives on home design. The outdated design trend I am dealing with is heavy curtains and window treatments. I have gotten a ton of ideas for more modern window treatments by watching your videos. I absolutely love your style. Thank you very much!

  19. Pee Wii on March 26, 2023 at 9:55 am

    I’m glad I don’t give a stuff about my house looking dated 😂

  20. Dana Goatley on March 26, 2023 at 9:55 am

    I feel so much better about my home now. I have none of these. 🎉

  21. Jule on March 26, 2023 at 9:56 am

    I appreciate this video and professional advice that you shared. I’m currently updating my home and feel like I’m not following any particular type of trend, as I believe you were emphasizing in this video. The days of following trends are in the past, and a lot of people are realizing less is more. I personally believe that if I update my home with the simplicity of the updated lines of lighting fixtures, furniture and decor along with a few quality art pieces that I love, I’ll be happy with it for years to come. I love all your videos! Thank you!

  22. Celeste Inman on March 26, 2023 at 9:58 am

    OOh that’s an idea. Like the modern Italian look home. I really am very tired of all the greys. Haunted house look. Depressing. Bleak, scarry.

  23. Saras Watkin on March 26, 2023 at 9:59 am

    Love all vintage looks. Hate contemporary clinical decor.

  24. latest info on March 26, 2023 at 10:02 am

    What is the most ironic thing is that all the "updated" homes ALL…ALL..have a theme…..MODERN GEOMETRIC. Some actually do look good. EVERY update will be outdated in a short time. Our country is obsessed with the word OUTDATED. …the only thing it does is keep people buying and keeps companies in business. I will say that i had ONLY ONE of the 10 things you listed. …heavy drapes. Mine are tab-top and only for the purpose of sun bleaching upholstery. Less can be more…. p.s. I’ve always hated those "live-laugh-love" signs.

  25. Just A Fan on March 26, 2023 at 10:06 am

    Yes, that’s it. We’re tired of the over decorated home, and yes, we want our things to be practical and more collected. 💡moment for me. Thank you.

  26. Stephanie Jean on March 26, 2023 at 10:07 am

    The Tuscan look is dated .

  27. F W on March 26, 2023 at 10:07 am

    Pick what makes you happy that you can keep. Fashions and trends come and go. If you just follow trends, you always end up “out of date”. Paint companies, decor and furniture stores, etc., love keeping us buying forever but that eats up our money unnecessarily. And the impact of forever changing decor and the consumer culture on the environment is very bad.

  28. rebarenee7 on March 26, 2023 at 10:12 am

    Make or create your own art, which is even better. If you travel or moved a lot, capture your own pictures and frame them.

  29. Luis Rivas on March 26, 2023 at 10:12 am

    Z Cavaricci 🙂

  30. Deborah Zenquis on March 26, 2023 at 10:14 am

    Ever did it. I thought about it, thanks for stopping before investing in signage.

  31. Eat the Rich on March 26, 2023 at 10:14 am

    Bed in a bag? I don’t know that one. Stop with:

    black accent hardware;
    waterfall edge worktops;
    barn doors;
    fake beams and rusticana;
    floating shelves;
    chandeliers;
    fake Shaker cabinetry;
    shiplap;
    ugly veined granite and marble;
    kitchen islands; and
    trendy wall and floor files. Those are but a few of the egregious cookie cutter, tick box exercises that pass for design.

    Let’s also stop copying wholesale whatever the home style magazines are pushing and finally, put back the walls that were torn down for the dreadful open plan living.

  32. Olivia Aybar on March 26, 2023 at 10:14 am

    Valentina, that black ⚫ think on your back is really scary. Your colors in that room and your matching clothing don’t look good. There is no palette or matching transition for the eyes to rest. Is either black and black. Just a notation.

  33. Barb Howell on March 26, 2023 at 10:17 am

    My husband will be happy, he never wanted us to have any signs anywhere!

  34. Lucy on March 26, 2023 at 10:19 am

    She said Macaroni Grill. True truw

  35. Jennifer Prevost on March 26, 2023 at 10:19 am

    Buy original art from local artists.

  36. August Vukosovich on March 26, 2023 at 10:20 am

    I love you guys! I don’t know if you’re married or just friends but your energy together is amazing. Thank you for making me laugh. In selling my house right now and I went to Hobby Lobby to get some things and I just really hated the wall decor with sayings on it lol!

  37. vassybaby94 on March 26, 2023 at 10:21 am

    Our wood floors are SOO dated. Our house is pretty large so it would cost thousands to change them and such a big hassle…so when we do eventually move we will fix them then in our current and new home if needed 😂 but everything ELSE we are almost done fixing

  38. Faith_9 on March 26, 2023 at 10:22 am

    I love the no drapes trend and great views with lots of natural light. However, I live on the coast, and the sun is intense here in the morning coming into my living room so that it’s almost blinding and not comfortable to sit there. Therefore, I got light beige drapes to the ceiling and the rod so wide that they sit on the white walls and leave the window completely open the rest of the day from after the sun direction shifts. But too, the windows themselves are new and so nice that I’d love to not have and drapes. Mine are crisp, nothing fussy. Thanks for all the great tips. 🍁🧡🍁

  39. Ae 4293 on March 26, 2023 at 10:23 am

    What type of light fixture is ideal for a dining room? Something that will not be out of style?

  40. Loisey Willis on March 26, 2023 at 10:23 am

    This is one of my favorite videos! I completely agree with everything you all said. I think of my nineties house compared to today!! The Z Cavarrichi’s 😂😂😂 I had a few pairs.

  41. RobinBird J on March 26, 2023 at 10:25 am

    The high gloss AMBER finish is classic, from 1880s shellac. Don’t sand it down, screen it. Otherwise you lose wood.
    The high shine is a perfect way to get that old feel. In 10 yrs the matte look will give way to a med sheen and those high gloss shellacked floors will be worn perfectly. If you put on shellac, it’s easy to redo at ( no sanding).
    The poly will need to go still, because that stuff I doesn’t die well.
    But you’re right, it’s very out now. Which also makes it unique if you work with it and throw a large rug over it.
    Tuscan can be reworked to have a modern a Euro farmhouse (start with changing the the yellow paint and heavy texture).
    I had all these trends in some form and am now removing a Tuscan kitchen wall treatment and a high 37” counter. Have you ever seen anyone sitting at a bar counter? I think I might have, once. I’m also removing my island. Hate the barrier look. Because I’m weird!
    I also like a few bed in a bag styles. LOL Mixing them up is key!
    And yes, getting rid of the excess cheap poly pillows.

  42. Karina Gamble on March 26, 2023 at 10:26 am

    I currently have the glossy hardwood floors and I wanted white oak (from Floor and Decor) – I have to pay $5K to sand them though. So they are staying right now 🙁

  43. Art Altman on March 26, 2023 at 10:27 am

    Starts at 2:39.

  44. Liv on March 26, 2023 at 10:28 am

    Lots of people living in dated houses in the comments, pressed about this video lol. If you’re HAPPY with your home then clearly this video isn’t for you. It’s for people who WANT to update their home and not sure how. And everyone hating on trends, guess what these dated looks were also trends at one point, meaning if you have it, it means your home was also following the trends at one point in time

  45. Melinda Smith on March 26, 2023 at 10:29 am

    My dad taught me why too many pillows suck !

  46. Karen Hamlin on March 26, 2023 at 10:30 am

    We have dark wood L. Room lamp tables with the curved legs (French?) . Should we get rid of them?

  47. sheila vidrine on March 26, 2023 at 10:30 am

    I think I have all of them!😂

  48. Anna on March 26, 2023 at 10:31 am

    Your Jack is awesome!😊

  49. Mavis Jones on March 26, 2023 at 10:32 am

    I just refreshed my kitchen and kept my raised bar. I have an open floor plan and don’t want me or my guests to be able to see dirty dishes from the family / living room.

  50. Sam Sung on March 26, 2023 at 10:32 am

    I love my over stuffed chair & sofa.
    Sooo comfortable.
    I don’t care if they are dated. My self-esteem isn’t paired with my decor.
