3 Waterfront Campgrounds In South Florida | Beautiful Waterfront Camping!

Finding waterfront campgrounds in South Florida can be difficult! While South Florida has many campgrounds and A LOT of water, most of the waterfront campgrounds are either booked way in advance or extremely expensive. Fortunately, there is another option! The Army Corps of Engineers operates 3 campgrounds in Florida, with all 3 located in South Florida. These 3 waterfront campgrounds run along the Okeechobee Waterway. They are W.P. Franklin Lock & Dam located on the west coast near Fort Myers, Ortona Lock Campground centrally located near LaBelle, and St. Lucie Lock Campground on the east coast near Stuart. All of these Campgrounds have waterfront sites and reservations can be made through the Recreation.gov website or mobile app. While they don’t have the RV resort amenities, the views and the price more than make up for the lack of resort type amenities!

If you’d like to find more Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds, this book has them all! We have used this book to find WONDERFUL campgrounds in several states! https://amzn.to/3s8GFyr

Are these all W/E only? Can you reserve on-line?
We are currently in Ft. Myers and there are more openings due to the Canadians not being able to come down.

Thanks for the great review, Jouppi. I am planning to head down to FL this fall (waiting for the "lockdown" to blow over). My preference is State parks, Corps of Engineers, National Parks, and dispersed camping.

I just discovered your channel. I am originally from New York City. Iā€™m about to retire from the US Army, & probably move to Florida. My wife & I have been talking extensively concerning RVing. I just need silence in my life.
