When we were a young family we would go from Chicago to Florida where my mothers family lived.
Later we went out west and the first place we visited was south Dakota, mt. Rushmore, and I was at the right age (10 yes old) to fall in love with the Badlands. I wanted to escape into those formations. We always went in August right before school began.We had some wonderful 30 day long adventures, from 1963 to 1968.
The thing that bothered me the most was bears. We had arrived in Glacier park the same night that the campers were killed by grizzly bears. I’m 66 and still it ruins camping for me.
In Custer state park we were overwhelmed and overrun with SKUNKS.
also if I remember right we were trapped because of a flash flood. It had washed out the bridge. Someone came up with a tractor and pulled us out though a different( and frightening) way.
Are there places in Russia that are set aside as national monuments and parks? it has so much land area it must have some amazing things also?
