They want food and they give us small kitchen.

  2. gladybest vlog on February 13, 2022 at 10:51 pm

Wow the kitchen is so unique

  3. Gloria S. on February 13, 2022 at 10:51 pm

Cheap, neon coloured cabinets. With smaller rental apartments, they seem to assume that tenants would use camp gases. Like no space for a full cooker.

This is a really beautiful space, but the cost 😭 This is one of the reasons why I don’t agree when people say that Nigerian rent is very cheap. I agree that rent is still certainly cheaper than in the West, but apartments that have good quality finishing are way out of the reach of most people. But anyhow the economy wants to be, we will buy them 🙏

In Congo is worse. Kitchen, toilet and windows are afterthought even in the most “prestige neighbourhood”. Also let’s not even talk about the backyard!

  5. Emmanuella Eigege on February 13, 2022 at 10:59 pm

Shaking all the tables 😂😂😂 the kitchen in my house is orange and I wonder why

  6. Ini Akpan on February 13, 2022 at 11:00 pm

Yeah, I was imagining myself living here.

  7. Eggie's Bakes on February 13, 2022 at 11:01 pm

Hi SisiYemi, these landwey houses are just magnificent. Do they have apartments for rent or only for sale?

  8. Prospekt Arty on February 13, 2022 at 11:01 pm

Nigerians have no taste just watch Nollywood films

  9. Azaka Nkem on February 13, 2022 at 11:07 pm

I totally agree with you jare. they build houses in Nigeria as if the kitchen is an after thought. most houses i have stayed has annoying kitchen. Broken cupboards, bad wood that termite will eat up after like 6 month of living in. infact its plenty

Sisi Yemmie this Kitchen thing is deeper than you think.
I remember watching a stage play called "Hear Word" some years back and remember a line from that play where someone said, " Go and ask your mother why the kitchen is at the back of the house". To me it more cultural. Some cultures don’t see women as important so one of the most important places for woman is built as an after thought ( that’s not to say men don’t cook) However, in this part of the world most women do the cooking!
People should build things with women in mind. Architects and Engineers especially.
I told my siblings recently, when I am ready to build my house, I will sit with an architect and design my kitchen the way I want.
During house hunting my siblings were tired of me lol, cause the first thing I look at is the kitchen. If it isn’t big or spacious I don’t take. Luckily we found a place with a moderate and nice kitchen.
Some of us are lucky to afford good apartments with moderate/big kitchen however, that’s not the story of the average Nigerians.
We need to do better and ensure kitchens are condusive!!!

Nothing beats an open plan kitchen, overlooking a lounge area, with large windows that would bring in natural light, plenty of ventilation, enough cabinetry for storage. Top grade appliances, fridge freezer, dishwasher, double oven, stove burner/cooker with hod extractor.

I couldn’t agree more with you…i share the same sentiments. I am zimbabwean but when i watch Nigerian movies it agrevates me to see this gorgeous mansion that has bright lime green cabinets….i even saw one with rainbow colours 🥺😤🤬, i cried, fainted, died and rose again!

  13. Margert Queen on February 13, 2022 at 11:14 pm

I have seen Nigerian houses and there is nothing i like about them!!! the houses are soooooo big with no character miss matching tiles giant rooms with no details and they are not cozy at all they think the bigger the better🙄🙄🙄🙄

  14. Justt Bella on February 13, 2022 at 11:14 pm

Those nasty tiles, tiny windows, ugly wall paint, very poor furniture quality and lack of space or design for appliance 🤦🏾‍♀️ 🤦🏾‍♀️
The carpenters will make cabinets where the cooker switch is suppose to be

  15. Patrick Opaola on February 13, 2022 at 11:16 pm

Hello Sisi Yemi. It is not just kitchen. It seems that most people in construction business in Nigeria lack creativity. Yes. This includes those involve in multi million naira houses. I am building a small bungalow in Nigeria. The architectural designs shows an open floor design for the kitchen, dinning and the living room. Even though I have an engineer supervising the building which I have since fired. It appears that they only look at the design during foundation and then forget it exists. the windows sizes are mismatched. The bathrooms were too small. You break and rebreak and eventually you just give up. It is frustrating. I am at the tilling stage and was looking for a house that probably will have good wall tilling in the kitchen and bathroom, and the bathroom floor that I can ask the artisan to duplicate.

  16. Agoz Ifebi on February 13, 2022 at 11:19 pm

Also I have seen blue kitchens that look so beautiful

  17. Buki Christian on February 13, 2022 at 11:20 pm

The video I’ve been waiting for. My disdain for typical Nigerian house "design" in general runs deep.

  18. Omololu Ojomo on February 13, 2022 at 11:20 pm

This was such a fun video to watch 😂😂😂 the different kitchen set ups you were showing us kept cracking me up 😂😂😂 but the appartment is beautiful sha

  19. Kaka Osoko on February 13, 2022 at 11:22 pm

For me this kitchen you are extolling is too small. The counter tops are damn too small for me..its beautiful but not really functional.

  20. Dolled-up jen360 on February 13, 2022 at 11:22 pm

    It’s indeed stunning sista

  21. Ab Precious on February 13, 2022 at 11:23 pm

No too much serenren going on 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  22. Bibbiana on February 13, 2022 at 11:24 pm

If more women were designing kitchens AND if more men were cooking on a regular basis things would be different…

  23. Rita Usua on February 13, 2022 at 11:25 pm

It’s unprofessional. I hate most to walk into wet toilet floor when visiting rest room.

  24. De-sh on February 13, 2022 at 11:26 pm

I thought i was the only one who noticed

  25. zeewann on February 13, 2022 at 11:26 pm

    Ahem. And the cost?

  26. as on February 13, 2022 at 11:26 pm

The apartment is beautiful and modern and fresh

But please that washing machine under the stairs 🙄, why?

  27. charis charis on February 13, 2022 at 11:27 pm

I don’t think the cabinets are mostly bad in Nigerian kitchens besides in my experience, it’s always better to play with colours, neutral or not. Even the model you’re showing isn’t a single colour and the all white kitchen is becoming a thing of the past. I do agree with you on size and ventilation though.

  28. nana kazondo on February 13, 2022 at 11:27 pm

Nigerian kitchens are the worst, lm glad someone is finally saying something about it.

  29. Mpho_billions on February 13, 2022 at 11:27 pm

Oh my word ur so right😂😂😂 im a south african married to a nigeria… i always feel like im in some nursery school whenever im in my sister inlaws mansions, beautiful houses buþ the colours, order and ventilation🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ i asked my husband for permision to be part of our own mansion from the architecture side to the finishing and mahn they all wana renovate 😂

  30. uch ok on February 13, 2022 at 11:27 pm

    The shout😆😆😆yaaay yaaay!!!wai ayu running?!🤣🤣🤣hilarious

  31. as on February 13, 2022 at 11:28 pm

They should put that small nigeria kitchen for single men. Let them cook there.

  32. Hercules and Hector on February 13, 2022 at 11:28 pm

I thought it was only me! My architect only put one window! It was too late by the time I noticed thank God its my village home ! Though I would have wanted more windows🤷🏿‍♀️

  33. Tino ricky zagor on February 13, 2022 at 11:32 pm

Well said Sisi, African tend to ignore details!! Details are critical for developement!!

  34. damko laka on February 13, 2022 at 11:32 pm

Thank you jare you really hit the nail, haba, kitchens are becoming a semi hell fire here in Nigeria ha!

  35. Nissy Foreal on February 13, 2022 at 11:32 pm

So true about Nigerian Kitchens, spot on! but what’s with a washing machine under the stirs🙄.. Bad to badder!

  36. Nimata Umar on February 13, 2022 at 11:32 pm

Just look at those hideous kitchen designs! 😫

  37. Zimbabwe Enhle on February 13, 2022 at 11:34 pm

Nigerian houses look nice on the outside but most interiors leave a lot to be desired

  38. opeyemi sarah on February 13, 2022 at 11:35 pm

This is what made me ask my mum if they didn’t even consult her when building our house cause the kitchen space ehn 🤣🤣

  39. Amanda Chinyere on February 13, 2022 at 11:36 pm

They use remnant tiles, rejected cheap tiles… Abuja is nonsensical

  40. Agoz Ifebi on February 13, 2022 at 11:38 pm

A standard kitchen should have 2 big windows. Counter top space for kitchen appliances. A sizeable pantry then maybe an island. It should be as big as other rooms in the house.

  41. Sandian BC on February 13, 2022 at 11:38 pm

2 min in and I am laughing. Maybe it’s the colours preferred by the old generation. My parents bought a white (interior) inside. And they are saying they want to paint the inside different colors😂😂😂😂😂🙆‍♀️. The one they built also was a lot of green, blue, white, and brown. But it’s their house so 🤷‍♀️

  42. Augustine Ukulu on February 13, 2022 at 11:41 pm

Is that a TV over the stove? If it is, that’s a no no. Who the hell will put a TV over the range? Please let us know if that’s a tv.

  43. vicky Obone on February 13, 2022 at 11:41 pm

Even in Gabon. It is in Africa 😂😂😂

  44. Ufuoma Ekarume on February 13, 2022 at 11:42 pm

    Yes ooo.
As a Single lady I really would love to own this. So Comfy and well compacted

  45. Chiagozie Enwonwu on February 13, 2022 at 11:43 pm

Please its not an architect that designed that mismatched kitchen biko😂. When majority of people want to cut corners and reduce cost, what do you expect? Plus you need an interior designer to make your kitchen that nice and they are expensive. Please hire professionals if you want good things. Thank you.😊

  46. Angel Ugo-nwachukwu on February 13, 2022 at 11:44 pm

U hv valid points but i think for colour its a thing if choice. I used purple for kitchen and is so beautiful

  47. Rich Auntie on February 13, 2022 at 11:46 pm
