#Sponsored Hey guys! I’m Alexandra Gater and I show you how to do rental-friendly upgrades and DIY projects on a budget. New videos every Friday! Today I’m tackling a front entryway + entryway hall closet to make it a more functional space for a family of three. Thank you so much to Canadian Tire for sponsoring this video and for introducing me to their Type A line! I can’t wait to show you how I use the line to make this entryway a more organized space.

Great ideas BUT as a teacher please put the children’s things at a level where they can get to them themselves. Children need to learn to take care and parents should not do for them all the time

  7. Roschelle Laughhunn on March 13, 2021 at 12:19 am

Why not organize the coats so the kids can reach them, add the rack for them to put away their backpacks and have a cubby to sit on with baskets for the miscellaneous stuff. It’s not so kid friendly, in my opinion. That may have also been the client’s request, I concede. To each his own..

  8. Marie P on March 13, 2021 at 12:20 am

Love everything you did! But that coat tree has gotta go.

  9. Aeri Heirsling on March 13, 2021 at 12:23 am

Much improved, l thought, oh, yeah, right🤨, yet it looks great!

  10. P S on March 13, 2021 at 12:23 am

Amazing job ! ❤️ Love the coat rack, it looked a bit empty in the entry way compared to the closet so I feel like it balances it out nicely!

    Thanks for the inspiration 🎉

  14. shaustin22 on March 13, 2021 at 12:26 am

The brown coat bar in the closet should be painted white. Doesn’t look good. Sorry.

  15. Grutedo on March 13, 2021 at 12:28 am

Fantastic tips! But to have a real plant to refresh the air instead of a plastic one (why use a french word? It’s a plastic plant.) would be much better!

  16. Jude Lewis on March 13, 2021 at 12:29 am

The coat RACK outside of the coat CLOSET is impractical and clutters up the clean entry way.

  17. Tyson B on March 13, 2021 at 12:29 am

    I LOVE a faux plant….😂
Ive been on to them for years! Got tired of struggling w messy plants. I feel like other people are just catching on! So easy and people cant really tell the difference. No muss no fuss!

  18. E Rod on March 13, 2021 at 12:30 am

It looks nice but not practical with little ones. I wish she had a vertical shelving unit for those baskets so the little kids could reach and put away their own things. The coat rack for the kids is way to high so that means the parents have to help them out everything on and then put everything away, which does not give the kids autonomy.

  19. ThickNCurly1 on March 13, 2021 at 12:31 am

I love that wall paper, I love interior design channels they open up my palette for ideas and styles I wouldn’t have considered.

  20. LifeIsMyCanvas on March 13, 2021 at 12:34 am

it looks pretty but the kids can’t get any of their own coats now!

  21. Andy West on March 13, 2021 at 12:34 am

My husband and I just bought a house outside of Halifax N.S. I loved this video so much. I could use so many tips. Like how to make a walk through closet functional, or living room space, or kitchen. We haven’t moved in yet and the decisions are already over welming me. We have a small 1/2 bath laundry room and I have no idea where to start.

  24. Jennifer Dahl on March 13, 2021 at 12:37 am

A walk-in entryway closet? How many people have that? Wow!

  25. Cindy R on March 13, 2021 at 12:38 am

I LOVE when you show us HOW to do something (with tips). I often wonder what the steps are in some of the things you do in decorating spaces, so seeing abit of how to put up this paper was great!! Love your channel! 💕

  26. DancingWithDestinysTruth I on March 13, 2021 at 12:38 am

Wow what a difference! I really was not expecting such a dramatic transformation just for a simple closet. LOVE the baskets, those are so cute.

  27. Tammy Stumpf on March 13, 2021 at 12:39 am

    Love it!

  28. Benjamin Muschol on March 13, 2021 at 12:41 am

    get that cash queen

  29. carol cox on March 13, 2021 at 12:43 am

the whole purpose of a coat closet is to keep your coats, helmets etc… that don’t usually have another place to store. so maybe baskets for out of season wear, still in the coat closet. you do nice work sweetheart.

  30. Valentina D. on March 13, 2021 at 12:44 am

I love the wallpaper. You didn’t need the coat hanger by the console table.

  31. Antiques Restoration on March 13, 2021 at 12:45 am

I’ve never seen a closet without a door. Is that a Canadian thing?

  32. Sarah Block on March 13, 2021 at 12:46 am

Please tell us where you got your overalls!

  33. Orson Elliott on March 13, 2021 at 12:47 am

    I just use a door.

  34. Forest Que on March 13, 2021 at 12:48 am

Rustic and lived in? That is almost the opposite of how I’d describe it 😂

  35. Samantha B on March 13, 2021 at 12:48 am

I wish we had a closet in the entry way!! We hardly have an entryway…it’s a split level so it’s just stairs right away, ugh.

  36. Organize Create Decorate on March 13, 2021 at 12:48 am

Is it common not to have a door on an entry way coat closet in Canada? It seems odd to me. Though now that you’ve dressed it it looks perfectly fine.

  37. H. A. Rolette on March 13, 2021 at 12:49 am

    Love your work.
I think the Pillow needs to go and the bench should be larger with a back.

  38. Zuri D on March 13, 2021 at 12:49 am

    Girl U did that!! :(((

  39. Gerri Vedrene on March 13, 2021 at 12:50 am

Why the coat rack when there’s a closet?

  40. Devynn Banks on March 13, 2021 at 12:51 am

I feel like you had some good ideas but your scaling and colors seem so far off for me. :/

  41. Jane Rainsford on March 13, 2021 at 12:51 am

I went right to Canadian Tire and the items you used didn’t seem to be available. 🙃 at least not in the colors and prints you chose. Just the same….I’m so glad you are getting sponsors. I’ll continue to watch and suggesting you to friends.

    From where the wallpaper?

  43. it’s just my opinion on March 13, 2021 at 12:57 am

You are just the cutest, I’ve never seen anyone pull off overalls so well! I love your whole aesthetic and this entry way end result blew me away 👏 looks great

My bedroom is pretty big, but I have 3 doors and 2 windows and I find it really hard to store my stuff when I don´t have a lot of wall space… any ideas?

  45. Sharon Evans on March 13, 2021 at 12:59 am

i enjoy your videos. you have been inspiring me and giving me great ideas for when i move next june/july. i am a bit of a diy’er myself. also enjoy seeing your cats. how long have you been doing decor and did you go to school for it? unfortunately, i am not using my college degree. when i do move, i plan to check out shopify as i would like to sell some of my art work at some point. right now, i do not have the space for running anything from my current apartment and we are not allowed to have a home business. i live in wisconsin. i visited ontario canada, a city called hamilton back in 2015 i did not want to come back to the u.s. best of luck on your videos. i plan to keep watching

  47. Donna Braccio on March 13, 2021 at 1:00 am

I would’ve put a long bench rather than the short one and also installed hooks lower so the kids can hang up their own backpacks, jackets, etc. love the wallpaper…I love your style

  48. Diana Smith on March 13, 2021 at 1:00 am

I love what you did with this closet! Functional and gorgeous. Love your style!

  49. Sonja Christensen on March 13, 2021 at 1:05 am

I’ve enjoyed your channel for a while and this is the first time I realized you are Canadian! AND I just bought that light fixture from Canadian Tire for my Kitchen and Stairway. Very nice to see affordable items that are available in Canada! Your work gives me confidence and inspiration to tackle my projects!

I’d looooove to see some ways to store books in a small space!
