You immediately lost me at getting rid of velvet. Lolol

I would do this for a beach house, but not a luxury apartment.

  2. Dana Leigh Formon on June 2, 2023 at 12:15 pm

So this is exactly why I liked styles like Scandi and Japandi…because it was clean lines and incorporated some earthiness. How would this differ, you think? Darker woods? (I know nothing about design…I just see pictures and videos that I like and think "Yeah! That’s what I like! I want that!")

  3. Brian Howard on June 2, 2023 at 12:16 pm

I think velvet isn’t a trend and can absolutely work with modern organic style. Just my opinion ❤

  4. Sori Yazz on June 2, 2023 at 12:17 pm

You are an amazing designer. TY Kiva

    Enjoyed !!

I finally treated myself to the Speedy 20 Bandolier Empreint in black leather. It’s beautiful. But, now I’m scared to wear it if it’s raining, or when I travel, etc. I know I need to wear it and enjoy it, but I’m apprehensive!!

  7. RocQuel Johnson on June 2, 2023 at 12:25 pm

I’m keeping my velvet as linen is too basic for me. And because I’m a color girl I can’t with boring beige 😅

  8. Estrella Perez on June 2, 2023 at 12:30 pm

I’m for putting things/elements in my home which speak to me. Trends?? I don’t think so – they come n go. Waste of $$!!!!!

  9. Darren Chichester on June 2, 2023 at 12:35 pm

OMG so tired of it. Everything is so disposable these days! Just focus on some timeless looks that you love and will last a lifetime. I have a love/hate for these “get rid of it” YouTube topics. although I do enjoy seeing you KB. Good videos.

  10. Gina Lombardi on June 2, 2023 at 12:35 pm

It feels more like a winter/spring swap out than a modern organic style. Not knocking it. Feels like a good choice for spring and summer.

  11. Sheila Thomas on June 2, 2023 at 12:36 pm

I’m over design styles being over. It’s amazing the number of people that will change their entire décor based on what’s trending. I have an eclectic decorating style and a small 2-bedroom condo. At some point, I’m going to purchase a custom slipcover for my sleeper sofa to add a cream element to my living room. Over it!

Winter here in Australia, love my velvet & faux fur Viking throws .

I’m so glad Walmart is stepping it up. Really have been noticing last couple of years. Thank you for sharing. Love your vids.

This is the style I’ve been chasing from childhood, when I first saw the original release of StarWars…
The whole 70s Mexican-Moroccan Modern look was massively influential in my childhood Style Eye.
When we hit big ‘rock album’ bamboo-wicker chairs, I’ll already be there

  15. Judy G on June 2, 2023 at 12:41 pm

I appreciate your approach to designing and the honesty you share! Thank you so much. Question – is corduroy also on the outs with velvet and faux fur for pillow covers? I found some nice neutral wide wale corduroy pillow covers but the ridges are soft and fuzzy.

Can we do a modern glam that fits both feminine and masculine?

  17. I M on June 2, 2023 at 12:44 pm

Hide the unstylish items if you love them. Everything eventually comes back. Trends keep swinging between country/ organic and glam, and back again.

  18. K Boyd on June 2, 2023 at 12:45 pm

Do you have links to the items mentioned in the video?

  21. Markus Stabauer on June 2, 2023 at 12:50 pm

The "art works" shown in this video are hilarious

  22. Intro to Music on June 2, 2023 at 12:50 pm

Rather than pitch all of your velvet, faux fur, and that very expensive marble coffee table everyone told you to purchase a year or so ago, maybe just switch out with the seasons and use different items on the coffee table. Better for the planet and for your budget.

  23. Yvonne Dozier on June 2, 2023 at 12:52 pm

You have to have good taste if you don’t have it, buy it hire a designer that does ❤️

  24. *rem!i* on June 2, 2023 at 12:54 pm

I’ve been after the organic modern, relaxed because I don’t have time type of style for a long time but can’t seem to pull it together. This helps a lot!

  25. Sheba Castro on June 2, 2023 at 12:55 pm

Why is everything so bland with no color? It’s like looking at a black and white TV

  26. T Jones on June 2, 2023 at 12:56 pm

Love the video! Great tips. Thank you.

Quick question – your blouse is fabulous – can you please let me know where you got it?

  27. mariana v on June 2, 2023 at 12:58 pm

    time stamps please! 🙌🏽

  28. Kim Haas on June 2, 2023 at 12:59 pm

No offense, Kiva, but I feel like we have entered an unrelentingly colorless landscape of interiors. It was fun a few years ago but there is SO MUCH of it lately that I’m restless for something else. Seriously. I think we’re all super familiar with the pared back, warm, neutral with rustic wood accent things in variations of beige, greige, and walnut. Enough with the scandi japandi desaturated clean modern organic. I’m happy that some people like that style. Great. As long as you don’t have live, laugh, love plaques adorning every surface, knock yourself out. But do we all want our Pinterest boards filled with it? We have reached market saturation. My eyes are burned out on neutrals. Let’s move on a little. Please.

I couldn’t get to your Walmart storefront with the link.

Please come and make over my home?

  33. TXJChaCha on June 2, 2023 at 1:05 pm

Changing the pillow covers is a nice way to update while staying on budget. That’s probably the only thing I’d do to keep up, may some accent things here and there.

But going all out with trend is not for me or my wallet 😅

  34. Danielle Blythe on June 2, 2023 at 1:09 pm

I need with a burnt orange sectional on expresso floors. I’m think of a very light rug

  35. Yvonne Dozier on June 2, 2023 at 1:09 pm

We all have voices, but we all can’t sing singing is a gift just like interior design it’s a gift ❤️

  36. ChocolateGhost on June 2, 2023 at 1:09 pm

Can we cancel the word ‘trend’?

  37. Damian Stallworth on June 2, 2023 at 1:10 pm

I’m gonna be bankrupt trying to keep up with these ever so changing styles! I hate it here! 😩

  38. Courtney Diva on June 2, 2023 at 1:11 pm

Can you please do a video on Modern Glam decor? Like I really like modern but I want to throw some gold glam in without it looking overly glam and cheap.

  39. Maria Padilla on June 2, 2023 at 1:11 pm

    Please link dupes!

  40. Anna Brusa on June 2, 2023 at 1:11 pm

I think most of us have a pretty strong idea of what we like but it is good to add some fresh elements to our homes now and that I don’t think it’s about changing our entire home look over unless we’re starting a completely blank canvas right? Happily organic elements and natural materials are getting more popular.

  41. Maxine Muhammad on June 2, 2023 at 1:11 pm

Allergic to down 😢 any tips for making a pillow stay put on a leather sofa? Considered at this point adding Velcro 🤣 the sliding makes me crazy and I can’t have blankets on every corner
