The Value of Arts; as I’ve lived it:
Years ago I discover that one of the best things about being a visual-artist, is not depending on it for a living, unless you’re a teacher, or working with it commercially…
The same would apply to writers, other then commercially.
Bottomline, it’s the few hundred’s that make the big buck we hear about, never the ten’s of thousand’s who don’t.
I’ve also learned from family and friends, that giving art to one of them, and not all should be a no, no.
Especially if they can afford to pay something for it, if the items is the artist’s livelihood.
To give it away would lessen its value in the eyes of the receivers. With the exception of those who have already establish themselves as an elitist or highly paid professional artists or other endearments.

Then there’s the artists who create for the love of art and self satisfaction which only gain value only when the artist is no longer with us.

PS: After 55 years of earning a living as an artist, 11 in West Africa where I learned the art of ivory and cow horns carving; I’ve returned to my 1st love of visual-art.

Ten seconds into this video, I knew I was gonna like this place. I’m a Bronx native who is also an artist, and color gives me life. NY hasn’t been my home for 30 years, but I incorporated NY style into everywhere I’ve lived. I love what you did with your home space!
