Excellent video and very informative, Miles really explained things well, especially about the BMS battery management system. Can we have more videos like this? Wish that he had a store in Europe.
    Great video,

I’ve been farting around with SLA and lithium batteries for years and this video would have saved me so much money and time

I’m getting my Van real soon.. I had really had my heart on for the new ford 4 by 4 transit but it cost too much. So i am looking at the pro master ,still has a very high price Tag but at least it’s $10000 cheaper.šŸ¤—
And for some reason in Las Vegas is getting really heard teacher hands on a Van.
Some my most important question is when I 1st start on the van do i start on the electrical 1st then work around it?

Thinking that’s what I gotta do but I definitely want to get a package together from you guys to put together my solar and power package ,will need to be strong enough to winterize My Van. And I like the solar panel said don’t have all the squares on .. the newer one that gets more sunlight without any obstructions.

What lithium batteries can be charged in extreme cold temps ???? 20 to 35 below zero .

    Thank you.

Another highly biased lithium battery vs AGM battery video. There are ZERO AGM battery sponsors on Youtube so its no wonder why you never see any pro AGM battery videos. Have you ever used an AGM battery? Ever looked at how an AGM battery performs at a 20% or 30% DOD instead of the 50%? Hell you didn’t have your van long enough to ruin an AGM battery but you prophesizing how they are bad. You’d need 300 amp hours of Lithium to compete with my 600 amp hours of AGM. My one worry is not discharging too much and you still have that same worry plus you have to deal with cold batteries, bad charging and a host of other problems that will kill your lithium way faster than my AGMs. I can screw them up 3 times before I spent the money you would have on lithium. Oh and an AGM can’t run anything like a lithium? I run everything off mine including my 13.5k BTU AC unit.
And please don’t tell me about these lithium warranties. I’ve read them and they are all very tricky. I hear people saying all the time certain batteries have 10 year warranties and then you read them and its a prorated refund on a repurchase only.

Next video with Miles you should give him a minute or two at the end to just speak in technical terms to make everyone appreciate how much he simplifies language.

Love your content, and learned a lot Jarrod! Is there a 24v 100ah Lithium battery available with built-in ability to output 12v?

  13. Matt Solomon on February 1, 2021 at 10:09 pm

Time for the build using two portable power plants! One for the lights and pumps, one for the cooking and fun.

  14. Glen Salmon on February 1, 2021 at 10:09 pm

bias towards lithium. not well versed in agm.

  15. James Shrewsbury on February 1, 2021 at 10:09 pm

This guy might be a good business man but he doesn’t know much about batteries . He is talking a bunch of bs to boot .
Sorry man he just doesn’t know , I would NOT buy anything from him.

  16. Gerald Darnell on February 1, 2021 at 10:11 pm

EVERYONE will agree Lithium are better. NOT everyone can afford them or get "sponsored " them. I run 600Ah of AGM Batteries. I can’t afford the $6000.00 to buy Lithium, or the 300Ah that I can now use. MAYBE if Battle Born and the other companies didn’t give away as many they could drop the prices for the every-day guy like myself. JMO

Lithium dont like cold or heat so there wirthless.. AGM works in all weather

Thanks for the video. Three years ago I purchased 6 Herewin 12 volt 100 Ah batteries. At that time I paid $520.00 each shipping included. Earlier this year I installed them on my motorhome. With just over 2000 watts of solar on the roof. Posted a video on the installation on my channel.

Do you need a designated battery charger for the lions battery ?

  28. Snarge22 on February 1, 2021 at 10:26 pm

    Love all this stuff!
Noted something that isn’t mentioned much is in regards to big natural weather events, and that is these Class B vans (work trucks in fact) to RV conversions, and RVs in general are great for when the weather goes quite bad and the power goes out or one needs to leave. With an RV, and these Promaster/Sprinter/Transit/Chevy-vans, one can exit with a fully self contained vehicle. Or if the power simply goes out, one can move into the RV for a few nights. How easy.

I’ve been full-timing for two years in a Transit 250, but haven’t "built" out any permanent features like solar, power, water, etc., precisely because of the high expense and technical expertise required for me to maintain those systems. I’m with Miles…"We have the technology; we can change the world we live in!" Especially now, in Paradise, California, we’re experiencing frequent power shut-offs due to fire danger, along with earthquake "swarms" occurring very near high-voltage lines and power generation sites. And, solar "economics," it seems, only applies to those "special" folks who OWN their own home. Thanks for sharing your passion…I’m with you!

Fair play mate ! I can gurentee this has helped a lot of us !

  33. Tannis Power on February 1, 2021 at 10:32 pm

I wish he would have showed us that power station & pointed out all the outlets, if it had any, or the various different outlets, again, if it had any, and what can be plugged into it, instead of using just a ”words"! Some of us need to have hands-on to understand: he says, "I can cook on that, I can boil water on that, . . ." so, does it have an element inside? Does it open up like a camp stove? I know it doesn’t, & now if anyone is reading my post, they also know, but if they didn’t, . . . . .?

I have just ordered 3x 200amh slim batteries for my van build in 48 Volt.
I am in Australia and 48 Volt is the latest and greatest and also cheaper than 12 Volt. The Inverter and all the gear to run it is Victron.

  38. Karl Jensen on February 1, 2021 at 10:40 pm

Starter batteries are lead acid because they can handle the extreme momentary surge current of a starter, 400+ amps. The best 100 amp hour lithium batteries max out at 200 amps for 30 seconds or 100 amps continuous. Other than that the lithium batteries are far superior. If you need more current capacity from a lithium, you run them in parallel.

  39. David Taylor on February 1, 2021 at 10:40 pm

Can the lions be connected in series 48 v ?

  42. thomas on February 1, 2021 at 10:46 pm

what heater was miles talking about heating the snow off windshield and heat the rest of the van??

  43. Jeremy Cowan on February 1, 2021 at 10:48 pm

I have been on the fence about lithium batteries due to the 5 months of cold. -20 to -40 C. My van has a wabasto knock off heater, but I can never guarantee the batteries are going to stay above zero all day everyday, sometimes the van might not be used for a week or to. should one stick with lead acid ?

Lightharvest solar has the distribution blocks and power panels that I want for my build and I can’t find them anywhere else. I love hearing the owner explain everything because he seemed so passionate about batteries and solar.
