Best Free Camping in Southeast?

In this video, I travel up to the Appalachian Trail in north Georgia and show you what I believe to be some of the best and most peaceful free camping in the Southeastern United States.

This is a Georgia Wildlife Management area and requires a hunting license, fishing license or an Outdoor Recreation Pass to be there. DNR law enforcement will give you a ticket if you camp there without one of those licenses/passes. Just Google Georgia DNR WMA rules.

thanks for the inside tip —spent some time Blueridge MTNs last month and really enjoyed my time there – not too far from FL compared to previous trips out west to UT, WY, NM…nice to see we have access this side of Mississippi.

very informative. I am from Savannah area and looking for a place to start. I will give it a try next week. Thanks for posting. If you know any other areas that might be nice for Truck camping and hikes from the truck, that would be great. This is my first trip up here for "hiking and camping". Did you just park your car right there where you were camping? Is it ok on those forest service roads to do that as long as you don’t impede traffic? Again, thanks

Thank you so much. I did not know about that area. I live in Middle Tennessee near to Fall Creek Falls State Park. But I love the north Georgia and the East Tennessee area of Cherokee National Forest where I know of quite a few free campsites also. It’s the middle of winter now here but I sure look forward to Spring I’ll be heading that way. You did such a superb job of filming and explaining how to get there and the roads excetera. Thanks again.
