What paint colour for walls if the carpet is medium moss green? And the carpet in my basement is rose pink, what wall paint floor is best for this? My home is over 90 years old but the carpets are 20-30 years old but in good condition since they re not in high traffic areas.

The woodwork in some of these homes is gorgeous. Drooling while I’m stuck with 1950s ranch style trim.

Thank you for not using obnoxious music with computerized little voices. Also, I really appreciate your slow, long looks at examples. Thank you for talking at a normal rate, and not on speed dial and like you’re worried the Internet is going to explode at any moment so you have to fit in all the things! It’s a pleasure to watch your videos!

Thank you so much for this video. I live in the Southwest in a Pueblo style home with yellow wood Vigas(beams) and because of this video I painted the floor black and the walls cloud white and it looks so modern and stylish. Keep making wonderful videos! ❤️

I love the way you explain the colour wheel with the wood tones. I’m sorry to say, but every time I see wood everywhere I just want to get it painted to blend in with my walls. I have found these amazing floor and wall tiles in a marble effect finish but are actually a ceramic tile. I’m kind of over wood floors and trim! Great channel thank you for all your technical know how🙏💗

You mentioned to start planning with a mood board, have you created a video to us with building a board prior to a project?…..I’m in the early stages of a custom home and would love visual help on building my design elements. Thanks!!

Amazingly thorough discussion of this topic. I have beautiful French Oak hardwood floors. I thought I should go with a warm white in my bedroom. After watching this video, I realize how big a mistake that would have been. thank you!!!!

Thank you so much. I have looked at a lot of paint colors to go with my knotty pine pitched ceilings in the living room. I love your ideas. What do you think of dark teal colors like Aegean Teal or Newburg Green?

I don’t know if you answer questions: but looking to sand some old wood trim to get it as natural light oak as I can. If I can’t get it to look good, what color do I paint the trim: not too white. I can’t it to coordinate with oak floor- please help! Thank you! I know you recommended one- but it’s too white- I’m painting walls alabaster.

Thank you for All of your videos. This one in particular is so beneficial for those of us who know color and especially those who do not. Paint colors are so much fun , but your Design Experience and Remarkable Eye help guide us away from costly and timely mistakes. Perhaps you will address Hardware in one of your videos. You have spoken about mixing metals and that is most pleasing. Love your Advice!

  38. T B on September 1, 2021 at 11:35 pm

We have wood trim (medium tone, somewhat honey) on our first floor and currently 6 different floor types with a somewhat open plan. I’d like to replace the floor with all one type, but an struggling on what to use. I was thinking a wood-look cork (love the softness, sustainability, and water resistance (compared to wood). Problem is, I like the trimwork, and was also thinking of wood cabinets, but I’m not sure how to coordinate all the woods….or even if I should? Any advice?

  42. Ev Bickel on September 1, 2021 at 11:41 pm

Julie, what would you suggest if you REALLY do not like grays, blues, or greens? (It seems that SO MUCH is farmhouse decor and gray right now. Talk about a dated trend already!) Our home is filled with antiques in mahogany and cherry and I LOVE the furniture. I have yellow pine floors and a neutral white trim for the windows, so a white wall seems like it would be too much. HELP!!!

This is the video I’ve been looking for after weeks of searching for different color options to go with my honey maple wood. Thank you so much for how thorough you are with your explanation and examples in rooms, not just wood next to a paint color dot.

Julie, I just watched this video–and I am sooooo glad, I am about to paint my entire condo (ceilings and walls) and was about to make a huge mistake in color choice.
Question: the last time I worked with a designer (when I could afford one) she said no more white ceilings–but use a color in the same shade but lighter…I noticed on the video white ceilings. What should I do? I have the honey oak issue so i am now going with a gray shade…

Love the video – you are so detail oriented. It’s so helpful to know this stuff.
