About Travel Beans:

Welcome to the official Travel Beans YouTube channel! On this channel, you’ll find a variety of travel and vlog content, in which you’ll see us in places like Thailand, Japan, USA, Slovenia, and more.

In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!

After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.

Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

Alex & Emma, I’m so excited for your road trip! It is the BEST thing to do in the US and you picked a great route. Death Valley is an amazing national park with lots of hidden gems. My wife and I are building out our Sprinter van so that we can live and travel in it full time within a year or so. We do lots of trips short and long and when you have a bathroom you really can park up in the middle of nowhere! If you don’t have it already, I recommend downloading the app called iOverlander which will show you lots of places to find campgrounds, wild (free) camping, fill up water, dumping stations and more.
    Enjoy!!

Just found your site. Its very entertaining. We have lived in tbe UK for a couple of years. Found it a bit different that every home we visited and many offices ect had pictures of the queen on walls. We have our flag and you have her majesty.

  8. N3STRo on January 4, 2022 at 2:46 pm

  9. Peri on January 4, 2022 at 2:46 pm

Not healthy choices at all. Try a farmer’s market or if you don’t cook try take out from Whole Foods Market.

    Nice works

  11. Nature Girl on January 4, 2022 at 2:50 pm

You’re adapting to America very well. YT banned the flag emoji. Dems in DC/NY don’t like our flag. Can’t wait to see you guys in the SW. I lived there for 10 yrs. Go to the ruins around Flagstaff/Sedona +Grand Canyon.

  12. rol gee on January 4, 2022 at 2:52 pm

Try to avoid the snow… be careful.

  13. RVC ! on January 4, 2022 at 2:53 pm

Wishing you the best with your travels in America. Is the bench seat/bed comfortable?

  14. Melissa on January 4, 2022 at 2:54 pm

Thank goodness you guys didn’t go in June! y’all think it’s hot in November?
I’ve slept ina popup trailer when I was at a family reunion at the Grand Canyon for a week. It’s basically beds. Campers are much fancier and the way to go for sure!

Love motorhomes / RVs / campervans. We have been 9 times and can’t wait for our next holiday. Highly recommend traveling through New Zealand.

  17. mariezp on January 4, 2022 at 2:58 pm

Brave girl driving that big vehicle for your first time on the California highway! Too bad your trip doesn’t include Texas. I would have been happy to show you some southern hospitality!

  18. Cheryl Davis on January 4, 2022 at 3:00 pm

    Yes. I have one.🙂

  19. N3STRo on January 4, 2022 at 3:02 pm

Can you imagine going across the American southwest back before they had air conditioning and modern vehicles?

  20. Lina and Dan Travel on January 4, 2022 at 3:03 pm

That’s amazing!!! New friends here !We look forward to seeing your new motorhome adventure! 💕 ❤️

  22. Ricardo roams on January 4, 2022 at 3:09 pm

Welcome to the USA and especially to my home state of California. When I was young I owned a Volkswagen camper van. It was under powered and as a result very slow especially crossing mountain passes. It also had no air conditioning. But that thing took me over most of North America. Some of the best times of my life. Now that I’m retired I’m planning on going out on the road again. This time I have a Jeep and hope to get off into places away from the crowds. Safe travels to you and enjoy your journey!

  23. Tom Barker on January 4, 2022 at 3:09 pm

Swapping a scotch egg for chicken tenders? I’ll probably allow that, slippery slope though!

Driving that RV looks terrifying, I’d do it but be stressed for like the first week. Well done Emma!

When I was 7, we took an RV around New Zealand, that was amazing

  24. ChelBell Travels on January 4, 2022 at 3:10 pm

I am so excited that you guys are doing this road trip. I have been wanting to do a road trip across America for a long time. I hope you enjoy our beautiful Country.

New subscriber here. Hey I am from nearby San Diego and I recognize everything on this video. That is very cool. I live in Seattle now and the weather here would remind you of your home in the UK. I’m really looking forward to seeing the sight in Nevada, Utah and New Mexico. Those states are largely barren moonscapes. Especially Nevada. I been there and no thank you. Just a lot of heat, dirt and rocks. Sometimes it gets quite windy too. LOL… Hard to imagine what early settlers must have thought when they came upon this vast deserts. Some of it is quite beautiful though. Really loved these videos. 👍👍👍👍

  26. R. O. on January 4, 2022 at 3:11 pm

Watered down beer and fried snacks? lol, why don’t you try fried beer? It would solve two things in one. If you are talking about faked moon landings you MUST stop in Rosewell, NM. It has the second largest archive of the Rosewell alien landings in the the late 1940’s. Do you know who has the largest archive of this event? If you guessed the Vatican you would be correct. Now why does the Vatican need to know so much about supposed alien visits?

  27. ChaCha Santiago on January 4, 2022 at 3:12 pm

Hey guys, I started following you when I saw you hanging with The Way Away! I like you guys so I’ve subscribed ! Can’t wait for your next adventure !

  28. Miso B on January 4, 2022 at 3:12 pm

Not sure when this was filmed, but November 11 was Veteran’s Day. So while I’m not particularly patriotic, I’ll raise a flag for July 4th, the weekends of Memorial & Veteran’s Day.

  29. N3STRo on January 4, 2022 at 3:17 pm

The roads must feel so wide compared to the UK

  30. Cheryl Davis on January 4, 2022 at 3:18 pm

How you like driving on the right and on the left side of the vehicle?

  31. Babs L. on January 4, 2022 at 3:20 pm

Just watched this vid, glad to have found it because my son and I are going to do a campervan road trip from San Francisco to Las Vegas this summer. Newbies to the US and to a RV. So glad I found you and looking forward to see more of your vids.

  32. Jack Bagelz on January 4, 2022 at 3:21 pm

yea you only spent $150 on a bag of groceries for a few days

  33. Moses Manaka on January 4, 2022 at 3:21 pm

I can understand why the English love the USA. You can’t even compare the two countries, the USA is way bigger and better in everyway than stuffy old wet UK.

  34. Paul Alexander on January 4, 2022 at 3:22 pm

Converted a couple of VW vans for personal use in the UK and Europe BUT an RV Roadtrip in the USA is on our Bucket List

  35. Ertuğrul Aydın on January 4, 2022 at 3:23 pm

Hi from Turkey.. You Van looks very comfortable 👏 👏

  36. Himwotdus on January 4, 2022 at 3:23 pm

Wow what a trip. Would you guys mind telling me who you hired the ‘van through and can you give me a rough cost of the two week hire – Thanks a lot.

  37. Summer Day on January 4, 2022 at 3:24 pm

I’m starting this adventure in September, for 6 months. Did you consider buying and selling a van?

  38. Reality on January 4, 2022 at 3:25 pm

Those of us in the US hate it when people change lanes without "indicating" as well.  One of the leading causes of road rage in the US.

  39. Cheryl Davis on January 4, 2022 at 3:29 pm

In the States for only 2 weeks or is it your road trip is only 2 weeks?

  40. arafath us on January 4, 2022 at 3:30 pm

  43. Tea and a Butty on January 4, 2022 at 3:34 pm

😂 Sprinkle the American flags around! 😂 We once spent the night in a camper van in the middle of a snow storm and the generator went out, so we had no heat. We put on sweaters and coats, gloves, hats, etc and huddled together under the blankets to try and stay warm. Needless to say, it wasn’t the best night ever!!

  44. Lion Tour Adventure on January 4, 2022 at 3:38 pm

    Nice video

  45. Peaceful Wife on January 4, 2022 at 3:39 pm

Just found your channel. Too cute. I love the way you describe "no signal lane changers"….here in Missouri we have a saying, "Have you run out of turn signal fluid"? That’s the polite thing we say about it….😊

  46. Ahmed AlShalchi on January 4, 2022 at 3:39 pm

I suggest you use dual flag on one stick or rod , up one is USA and below is UK , that’s better to explain your condition out…

  47. Borr Dellingr on January 4, 2022 at 3:41 pm

Really looking forward to the series. My family and I did a 2 and a half week road trip up the Pacific Coast Highway (we are from New England) from SF into Oregon, over to Portland, down to Crater Lake, Napa and Big Sur. We got a Juicy van which was basically a minivan retrofitted to camp in. My wife and I slept on the couch which folded down into a bed on the inside and out 2 daughters (16 and 13 at the time) slept in a pop up tent on the roof. I was petrified about doing this with my wife and 2 teenage girls for 2 weeks, but it ended up being the most amazing trip we ever did. We loved stopping in all the little towns along the way and meeting all the locals. Enjoy your time on the road and seeing an amazing part of America!

  48. Bengali Shaw on January 4, 2022 at 3:42 pm

I’m also terrified of driving big vehicles as well lol I don’t wanna tell my story. It sucks driving in city in a big vehicle.

  49. Living The Dash on January 4, 2022 at 3:42 pm

California is a liberal state. Be careful of your safety. Pizza arrives quicker than emergency services. It’s basically the next Brazil or Southern South Africa if you’ve ever been to either. Enjoy the fallstaffian country of America. Beautiful sites, but the liberal/democratic areas I’d stay away from. They’re just as bad as most parts of Brazil.
