Hi Julie, love your videos! Wonder if you can tell me what kind of floor you show in 12:12 with the circular patterned tiles. What are the called? Trying to Google it but don’t know what to search for.

I hate wallpaper in a bathroom. I put some up, now I need to take it down because its outdated. Much easier to paint, using color for interest.

Loved your video!! Struggling with a windowless basement bathroom. Just don’t know how to finish it – inclined towards tile but want something that will brighten it. I was thinking keep it a little raw and show some concrete, but also love the expensive flashy acrylic panels I found. I just don’t want to spend a ton of money but want it to look good. Also, prefer a timeless look so that it doesn’t look dated in 5 years!
I welcome any and all ideas. I think I will make a inspiration board, that was great advice bc there are so many options out there!

I’ll go and create a mood board right away, thank you! 🙂

Metal edge isn’t the prettiest solution. The mitered joint is.

Would you recommend a rug in the master bathroom? If so, what size? Thanks

  9. Small Wonda on July 10, 2021 at 2:53 am

Excellent ideas – thank you – just love the Carrera-type marbles and the giant slabs (less grout). Thanks, Julie.

Not much of use here for me. It’s mostly about mirrors.

We have a long rectangular master bathroom. The vanity on one side is 107” long, split level w a mirror covering the entire wall. The other side of the bathroom is a oval, cultured marble tub w a step up. There is a box window behind it. The shower is to the left of the tub. We are thinking about painting the cabinets Urbane Bronze by Sherwin Williams. They are currently off white. We also want to remove the old small square tiles in the shower and put up glass walls. The walls are totally covered a wallpaper that is a light muted swirly gold pattern. Our problem is the sinks are against each wall, not centered. I’m hoping these small changes can help update our look.

Great video! My wife and I are starting a major remodel in June (Complete Kitchen, and Master Bath as well as Guest Bath. Also new floors throughout. We have been binging on your videos for help in design choices. We can’t seem to find anywhere to get the Porcelain Veneer slabs you mentioned. Any idea where we might find them in Southwest Florida?

  19. BertieRose on July 10, 2021 at 3:05 am

Hi Julie, I have a small master with this big garden tub encased in subway tile on one wall. I have a small separate shower. I want to take out the tub and put the shower there and turn the existing small shower into another closet. My question is: Am I making a mistake getting rid of a tub? I have a tube in the basement bedroom and that’s it.

  20. Samantha Sweet on July 10, 2021 at 3:08 am

Did you get that photo from Pinterest that saved as your thumbnail? I remember seeing a lady do a makeover and it’s on her Pinterest and YouTube but I can’t find that tile anywhere because I forgot the link and I took off the app. If that is it is on you did I’d like to know the name of the tile. I know the tile is at home depot.

Hello, was wondering what would be the best height to set for the wall tiles when one decides to have paint on the top area for a mixed tile/paint project? Thanks

Natural stone slabs for bathroom what colors does it come in ?? Do you have pinterest ?

  25. Sonya Wills on July 10, 2021 at 3:14 am

What do you think of doing tile floor that matches the shower tile? Like 24×48, large tiles. Our contractor suggested – curious your thoughts!

  26. James Dalpee on July 10, 2021 at 3:15 am

Schluter strips look so cheap and tacky and like an afterthought, IMHO. Bullnose trims look well thought through.

  27. Ramona Tse on July 10, 2021 at 3:16 am

I love examples but love it even more when you show visuals. The subway you referenced .

  28. Sarah Brown on July 10, 2021 at 3:18 am

My biggest pet hate is when people use freestanding baths and shove them up in the corner so you can’t clean behind it. Free standing baths are only for large bathrooms!

  29. Carolyn Hecker on July 10, 2021 at 3:19 am

I was hoping you could direct me to avoid a huge ahO. The contractor we are working with to remodel our Mstr Bdrm remodel has some good ideas, but they don’t exactly match mine 100% and he’s always undermining my suggestions “ saying “choose your poison.”
We have decided to go with a 18 by 24 ceramic neutral colored tile pattern on the “full wall above tub” and even under a full length mirror in approx. 1/2 of the room, and also the entire floor with the same tile and pattern.
The “tub surround” and “vanity tops” and edges will have quartz with no back splash, but the edges in front will be finished in quartz. The contractor didn’t order any bullnose.

    Also about mirrors’
We decided to use a full wall mirror The mirror we’ll be using will rest “ safely on the quartz vanity tops and half of the side of tub
“I love that look” but is it the right choice? For future homeowners down the road!
The plan is to put a full length mirror to span the full length of the wall above one side of the tub surround which will enjoin “ is that word?” the existing vanity.
My concern is: the already ordered tile is going to be laid in the same direction” floor and wall, and the contractor stirred me away from any accents. Makes sense after watching your video.
But, Will all the same tile on the wall and floor overwhelm the medium sized angled bathroom?
(My hope is…the mirror we’ll have installed will reflect the opposite side of bathroom where only a portion of the wall is tiled. )
I want to put a couple of niches above the tub, and perhaps a mosaic tile design with a bullnose frame, but contractor seems reluctant.
Am I over thinking things? I just thought to break up abit of the monotony.
I’ll be painting “ maybe” the old wood design veneer cabinets, and the small portion of the wall but not sure what color?
I hope I made sense and also thought you could direct me!

So beside the tile that’s already been ordered, and ready for pick up, could you help me on the layout of tile, and the mirror, niches and paint.
    Thank you, so much.

Unfinished edge isn’t a mistake. It’s just an ugly but cheap way of doing it.

  35. TheRushinReviews on July 10, 2021 at 3:25 am

Could you please do a video guide on how to use wallpaper? Its been hard to find videos that explain the do’s and dont’s with Wallpaper design, How to apply small amounts well? where it looks best and worst. Thank you!

  36. John C on July 10, 2021 at 3:26 am

Totally agree with you about accent tile, but recently I don’t find people asking for it anymore, maybe they found and follow your channel 🙂 . I’m no designer but as an installer working along side with different designers I’ve learned a few tricks over the years. Great tips, Liked and Subscribed

I want to see your DIY RENOVATION! Please add 2 safety considerations:
    1) Placement of and Blocking (in the studs) for grab bars (also useful for towel bars & casual TP holders).
    2) How to assure flooring tile meets reliable industrial specifications such as INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR STANDARDIZATION (ISO) which are notably lacking or unreliable among the popular residential tile suppliers. No one wants to see a guest suffer a head injury or hip fracture from your lovely matte finish porcelain tile floor that was deemed by the manufacturer to be appropriate for bathroom floors and even showers!
I’m just a homeowner doing a remodel including months of research on my choice of tile! Jane

  40. Maureen Gatt on July 10, 2021 at 3:30 am

My master bath (next to, not in, the master bedroom), is small — less than 8′ by 6′, with the shower stall recessed off a side wall. For many reasons, I am choosing to replace the shower with my stacking washer/dryer and then convert the tub to a shower/tub combo. There is a standard 48" single vanity on the side with the shower, a window with frosted glass opposite the doorway, and then the toilet and bathtub on the other side wall. There is an externally accessed linen closet that bumps into the space on that side. I want the atmosphere to be soothing, the style to be simple but not austere. I will replace the vanity and all of the plumbing hardware. I have been looking at tiles, at ways of enclosing the tub/shower (I am wanting to be able to use a shower curtain for ease of bathing little people), types of tub/shower combos, how to do it with minimal or no grout to clean, and accounting for my not liking the look of marble/quartz/granite — in general I am confused. Any quick tips on important considerations, and especially suggestions on compatible elements for my needs and desires, would be most appreciated!

Hi Julie! This was my first time watching your video. I found it to be VERY helpful. I’ve picked out a Navy/Gold color scheme for a guest bathroom. Large, 72", Navy, double vanity will be the focus item. Gold accents. I was thinking to use a "wave" design tile in the tub/shower area. Thoughts? ps – home is a "coastal" look

The porcelain with thick substrate material wall that you indicated sounds so interesting, can you share what it is called? I can’t seem to source it in my area.
    Thanks

Thank you for all the great tips! One question though…what’s your take on fixtures…I’m thinking of matt black or brushed brass for the faucet and pulls/knobs…but not sure what to do for the shower…help! :/
