Converting My New Van! Designing a Layout & Starting the Build | Build Ep. 1
Converting My New Van! Designing a Layout & Starting the Build | Build Ep. 1
Hi!! Thanks for tagging along with my new van build!! Teller and I spent a lot of time planning and prioritizing what we need most in this new van, and we have finally locked in a layout design that we are so excited about. I am going for a cottage feel again, but this time I am outfitting the van to be the perfect mobile crafting space! I just canโt wait to make so much art on my travels ๐จ
In this video, we are doing rust prevention and cleaning, installing the subfloor, putting in insulation, and more! I hope you will feel like you are hanging out with Teller and I while we build our home in this no-commentary conversion series. For instructional content on building out a van, I highly recommend @Linneaandakela & @ladiandmargaret, which are my biggest source of information for my own build-journey!
I hope you follow along on our adventure!
Stay safe friends!! See you soon ๐

Milo the Magnificent Motivator!
Just your artistic talent alone, is simply fantastic!
I love your journaling!
I think your tone of voice is so calming. Teller is the cutest! Your editing skills are to die for. And your creative van prowess is top notch!
Way to go!
So glad I came across your channel ๐
speechless! honestly you are so so so talented.
I really love your artwork Milo. You are very talented, and inspiring. I’m looking forward to more van build.
The fact that the notebook looks so nice with the drawings๐ธโ๏ธ
Thanks!
Clever work and a great job Milo.
He’s lovely ๐
Aloha Milo ๐ so excited to see you working on your next project. Your little transit connect was amazing so I know youโll do an awesome job on this build ๐
I can’t wait for the next video to see how this is coming along. So awesome to watch and I can’t wait to also see the final reveal.
Just discovered you tonight. I love how tranquil and calming your vibe and music bring โค๏ธ You are living the dream. It resonates with me completely and wish I had your skill and fearlessness to go for it! Pity you canโt bring your van to Scotland for a tour.
We love watching your build. We seriously just want to be your friends ๐. Amazing talent you have
Love your videos and watching this process; hope to see more soon!
How are you so skilled at absolutely EVERYTHING you do?? I wish I had just an ounce of your talent, creativity, patience, and pure zen demeanor. I absolutely love watching you work and am so excited to see where you go on your adventures. ๐
I want to watch/follow your content since I’m about to build out my honda element but I’m Deaf and there aren’t any captions.
Zen build๐ bless you 2, ๐๐พ๐พ๐
I need eps 2
You are insanely talented. I converted a promaster 136โwheel base into a music studio/ home
I like your Dog
Curious to know what your background is?
You have a lot of artistic ability and carpentry skills.
I think you should come over and drop off my van you built for me lol โค๐๐.. love it and great job.
One great time-saving thing you’ve taught me — get someone else to do this step. My hands shake constantly and cutting straight lines is nearly impossible. It’s important to know my deficits, but I know I have strengths, as well — friends and family that are handy with tools, plus a little extra money to throw at problems. ๐Thank you for another fantastic video!
Keep up the good work! ๐
How did you learn to do all this? I feel like it’s a lot to learn and everyone does things their own way and there’s not like one reliable resource right?
What kind of insulation is that and is it easy to work with? (The flexible one on walls and ceiling)
Wow amazing!!! Canโt wait to see whatโs next
I’ve been wondering how this build was going – looking so good ๐
You made that look so easy!
The relaxed persistent style of your videos makes them a pleasure to watch and also very inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Itโs always so comforting to watch your videos. Iโm learning so much about how to build out a van, which I plan to use in the near future hopefully, so I too can live out my dreams of being free on the road. ๐ Stay safe friend!๐๐พ
What state are you in for the build. What part of the US do you think youโll travel and live in?
New subscriber here. Love to watch your videos as a relaxing moment for my day. So peaceful, almost meditative. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, good job!!
Nada mejor que disfrutsr lo que uno hace.Felicitaciones!!
I love your channel and I am catching up on all your videos! I love the slow and mindful attention that you bring to building, crafting, cooking, etc. It’s like watching a Japanese calligrapher, if that makes sense! There is a spiritual grace to your gentle focus.
Thank you for showing all the steps in the build. It almost makes me think I might be able to do *some* of it someday, though I’m 60 years old with no cabinetry or construction experience!
And Teller is the cutest, floofiest co-pilot ever! You may address this in a later video, but how do you groom him on the road? He must need frequent brushing with that coat, and frequent baths to wash out all the souvenirs from his adventures!
Hi Milo, I came across a video of yours suggested to me, I was intrigued enough to browse through other videos. I just wanted to comment on your awesome tattoo, I couldnโt think of a better one for a photographer. ๐
You are a true artist!!! Such beautiful designs!
so excited to see ur episodes!!
๐๐๐๐๐ Thank you for sharing your build with us!
What are you using to isolate the walls and ceiling? I love that it’s flexible and soft.
I absolutely love your van build books! Extraordinary stuff.
New subscriber & I found your channel through Mike Wells interview with you. Thanks for posting. Very inspiring. I’m going to do this–go the VanLife route. I have to give this a try. I’m retired so why not?
I love your artistic flair in all your creations, including your videos. ๐๐ You’re so talented!
It’s great to see your van build. I’d love if you could explain the steps to us either in a voice over or at the end. For example was that insulation on the roof and walls or was it soundproofing or both. Just curious is all. Can’t wait to see the next progress update and how you use the extra space and work in more comfort.
Aloha Milo – So exciting to watch this buildโฆ.thank you for letting us share your journey ๐
Sorry ๐ข but I have a bad notice: you have forgotten to put the anti-rombo which is the noise-insulation ๐ฎ
Hey, Milo! Aunt Lynn here… also a PNW lover who recently moved to Portland – hoping to convert a vehicle soon. I’m wondering what kind of insulation you were putting in here – you weren’t wearing gloves, so I must assume it isn’t fiberglass. What type did you pick? I love your videos. Thanks!
How did you learn how to do all of this my dude? You look to be a very skilled draughtsman/artist but also have the necessary skills of carpentry and electrical work required?? Iโm super super jealous! ๐
You are a truly amazing artisan!
