Cruise America – Review and Walk through of 25' standard 5 passenger RV

Cruise America – Review and Walk through of 25' standard 5 passenger RV

My wife and I have rented these RV’s several times. We really like them. We had a few questions that I couldn’t find answered anywhere online so I made this video to show some of the features/walk through/operations of the standard Cruise America rental RV. If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments. We’d be glad to help other renters. Drive safe, have a great trip, and if this video has been helpful to you please “like” and “subscribe”. Thanks!

How did the AC work for you? Were taking one to key west at the end of the month, does it cool sufficiently?

Very informative, I’ve always wondered about all the features, great job!

Hi Mike. Thanks for the great video. We haven’t been RV’ing before but are looking into it for a summer trip.

If anyone out there has experience traveling in one of these with a family of four, I’d appreciate if you would comment about how things worked out with the ‘cab over bunk’ and the table that converts into a bed, which I haven’t seen in use.

    Thank you!

I get a lot of questions about how to dump the waste tanks in a Cruise America RV. Just recorded this video where I show how to do that, and also discuss a few tips like dumping a little bit of gray first if you are concerned about checking for leaks.

Thanks, hope this is helpful! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Excellent video – Thanks for sharing. How much does an RV this size cost to rent?

  8. Jeff Do on September 16, 2021 at 11:37 pm

    Price?

  9. Gregg Bilger on September 16, 2021 at 11:38 pm

I had a long talk yesterday w/ Scott who heads the resale part there in Mesa, Az. That is where they do all the refurbishment and then ship them out to other rental centers to the new owners for pickup. You can take advantage of their fly n’ buy. But I do know the RV industry is exploding and the prices on these refurbished have gone up and will keep going up. He said the wait list is 6-8 wks.. I am now just taking in the fact you pointed out there was no tv, leveling jacks, awning or extra steps. Those are all desirable extras that would be on a normal unit. I’m only starting to realize that they got smart over the years and made them idiot proof for the newbies rving.

Have you ever towed a car behind? What was your experience and what does Cruise America include if you use that feature?

  11. Gregg Bilger on September 16, 2021 at 11:40 pm

Are these prewired for TV in the bedroom or over the cab area?? Is there a solar panel on the roof and can the solar capacity be expanded???

What is the door width? Can you remove the dining table to stand a sculpture box there or parrot cage (2′ x 3′) ?

was this camper that dirty when you picked it up? EWWWWWWW, so gross…

Hi. Good and helpful video. I didn’t hear you say whether there are pots and pans or cooking utemsils or if we have to bring our own. Thank you.

Hi Mike, thanks for the great video. We are leaving on Thursday in the exact vehicle you are describing and I have a couple of questions. Do you remember what kind of gas mileage you got on your trip? Also wondering if you can use the upper bunk area for storage and if there is a way to secure items up there when the RV is moving. We will be moving locations each day and are wondering if we have to put everything into a storage area to drive and set up again each afternoon when we arrive at our destination. Thanks for your advice.

Do they provide plates, cutlery and cooking utensils?

Very helpful, and perfectly timed for me to find this. Thanks!

Hello Mike, your video is awesome! This was informative for a first time renter. I do have a question regarding the propane tank for the 25′ RV. For a 1500 miles trip, do you recommend a 20 lb (5 gal) or a 33 lb (7 gal) propane tank? Can a 33 lb tank fit?

  19. scott haney on September 16, 2021 at 11:51 pm

The video was very helpful thank you very much

Very nice video but I just want to know where do drop your toilet dump

  21. Joel Rogers on September 16, 2021 at 11:52 pm

Great job showcasing the 25′ rv. We will be driving long distance moving elderly family member in one just like this. We will be mainly interstate driving and wondering what kind of average mph you were getting when on interstate. Thanks for any input you may have.

  22. byrnespub on September 16, 2021 at 11:55 pm

Question about the propane. Does it come pre-filled or do you have to fill it? And, can I use the propane to fuel a gas grill outside? I didn’t see any external connections when you opened the hatch that houses the propane (other than for filling). I sold our travel trailer in January (for top dollar!) so now I’m renting one of these for a trip in Oct. Thanks for the very informative video!

  23. Maxwellmark on September 16, 2021 at 11:57 pm

Good review but you said something that caused me concern. Do not carry xtra propane inside the coach!..Tanks can easily leak or be accidentally opened going down the road. The gas is heavier than air and will pool in lower areasโ€ฆ.looking for a source of ignition. Always carry xtra tanks in a secured, vented compartment outside. Be smart, be safe ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

That was so funny. My wife walked in and said whatโ€™s so funny. My head is in the sky light.

  25. Nancy White on September 16, 2021 at 11:58 pm

This was great thanks! Is there a TV?

  26. Gregg Bilger on September 17, 2021 at 12:00 am

I’m guessing the solar keeps the battery charged if you want to just run the lights off it or keeps the battery full for cranking the generator if ne desires.e

  27. teddy bearhs on September 17, 2021 at 12:01 am

How many miles were you able to get on a tank of gas? (Mostly driving highways)

  28. Geo Man on September 17, 2021 at 12:01 am

Minimum rental for 2 weeks around $4,000.

Do these have a quick disconnect outside for hooking up an outdoor stove to the RV propane tank?

  30. Salvador Ramos on September 17, 2021 at 12:04 am

    Great review!!

  31. Jennifer Ropson on September 17, 2021 at 12:06 am

We really want o try to go off-grid as much as possible. My only concern is the fridge. Do you need the generator on constantly to keep it cool?

  32. Gregg Bilger on September 17, 2021 at 12:06 am

I guess that is their way of keeping the RV battery separate from the vehicle battery . No battery isolator needed; w/ solar the RV battery is charging at all times during daylight hours going down the road or camped.

Here is a link to a re-upload of my video walk-through and review of the 30′ RV, in case you have problems playing the first video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgOoMQ1_4mA

    Have a safe trip!

  45. Don Gerry on September 17, 2021 at 12:28 am

what do you estimate the mileage is and size of motor. we will be getting one on Tuesday morning

  46. steveinorygun on September 17, 2021 at 12:29 am

Thanks! I am renting one of these next week for a 2300 mile trip with two kids and a chihuahua. This walkthrough is so much better than the one Cruise America makes you watch. The one with that really white Canadian family. I hope youโ€™re getting a discount on mileage for the business you send them.

Now for my question, do I need to pick up special RV paper when I need to use the perch?

  47. Gregg Bilger on September 17, 2021 at 12:31 am

Is that small solar panel for lights only while boondocking w/o generator on of course?

  48. Gregg Bilger on September 17, 2021 at 12:31 am

Yeah. I’m leaning more toward purchasing one of their refurbished Class C 23A’s. The more I study all things here, I now see that they have made it idiot proof w/o awning, TV, jacks, etc. I’ve had a bumper pull, (2) truck campers, tent trailer and a 5th wheel over the years so I know a little about RVing. I have made my share of mistakes along the way, but I now know what to look for in buying an used unit. I thought I was finally out of RVing but we are now considering a Class C for our situation.

  49. Tia Vang on September 17, 2021 at 12:32 am

I was looking for someone to make a tour of the class C. Super helpful thank you!
