I love all the examples. Your videos are so dynamic! Also, love the sweater w your hair in this video!
Personally I like frosted glass. Half way.
Hi Julie, I am stuck in decorating my living room. My challenge is finding the focal point (where to place the tv). There is a corner area where we have temporarily place the TV as this set up maximizises the space. I can place the 2 sofas facing each other towards the largest wall of the room making the living area narrow. Help!
Would love to see you cover mixing wood tones in a video. Great content love the channel 👏
Help! I have black door handles and hinges brushed nickel faucets and shower heads. It’s a farmhouse style home just built. All appliances are stainless steel and all walls including cabinets are a white. I love the gold contrast with the nickel and black but I have no clue how to put them in light fixtures or what to mix and match.
My favorite kitchen sink faucet that also has a bar faucet only comes in stainless. The sink, refrigerator, and double oven are stainless, too. I have wanted chrome hardware. Do you think that could work, or would stainless hardware be better? I really don’t want a gold metal, and black seems trendy. I’m planning on white cabinets, with only 4 ft of uppers (in the bar).
Giving my kitchen a makeover the cabinet is dark my light fixtures are dark what color handle would go
Finally I have the guts to mix metals!
Can u tell me the history of the trend and how it developed
This helped me a lot….i love black, brass, and silver😍
Hi Julie, my kitchen has silver color faucet, cabinet handles and breakfast chairs legs in same silver color…can I pick pendent lights of gold color with black hangjng thread? Please suggest….
Hi Julie, I have a question for you regarding hardware for kitchen and bathroom vanities, can we mix handle and knobs on drawers and cabinets ? Is it old school, do sleek handles give modern look?
But where did you get your top? 🙂
I have chrome door knobs and white doors and ceilings. I have grey machiatto cabinets with brushed nickel hardware matching the appliances. My kitchen faucet and island pendants are brass.
I added chrome door knobs to go with my stair rails which have dark wood and chrome cables.
So now, I don’t know what color curtain rods a I should use. Black or Chrome?
Should I change my cabinets hardware to chrome or brass?
Thank you!
Well I got sliver gold and black in a 3bedroom apartment
Sweet video. Thank you
Ok help please… stainless steel appliances, polished nickel faucet and hardware, aged gold lighting. So does that mean I have four different metals going on?
I’m doing a new kitchen right now. Black cabinets on bottom. White on top. Stainless appliances. I picked brushed gold cabinet hardware for all. should I have used black pulls on top and gold on bottom or is gold wrong all together? I’ve bought it all but can return for 90 days. I also have 2 beautiful 12" black cage brass sputnik pendants that I love over a 5’x3′ island that is on the perimeter of kitchen .White quartz countertops with very little gray veining. Subtle white subway tile backsplash. Black light over sink. Is what I’m doing ok?🙏
Just as I wondering if I could mix metals 🙏♥️♥️♥️thanks Julie
Greetings from Perú, the largest Gold and Silver producer in the World! Thank you for sharing your videos. Just one question: What kind of light would you recommend for silver objects?
Wish you could help me out with my new home. Its super overwhelming.
Hi Julie I want to thank you so much for your great tips, ideas you have helped me so much, I’m a sixty yr old Who loves to watch HGTV but still when it came to decorating my own home, clueless, I’m doing my living room over right now still was clueless but your does and don’ts all these new YouTube’s I just have gotten into you and appreciate you so much thank you sincerely Donna
What type of color finish would work best for my bathroom doorknob if the rest of the bathroom hardware are all matte black and the tiles on the floor and walls are white with slight grey veining? Also, would I need to match the rest of the doorknobs finish of the other rooms that are on the same floor as the bathroom then?
Thank you. I’m upcycling 2 kidney tables and an end table, and I’ve just finished an upright piano desk – all for my living room. It’s the perfect opportunity to incorporate a warm metal into the room. This is exactly what I needed. Thank you.
😏
Great advice! Thank you!!!!!
Julie! Please help me. My entire kitchen has stainless steel … in appliances, faucet, sink, and light fixture. I loved champagne gold color for the hardware cabinets. Is that too much gold ? Or not gold enough?
Where do I send the check for this Master class.
Thank you, the video helped me a lot.
I still indecisive I don’t know the difference between brushed nickel or chrome
Ca you please do also a video where you explain how to mix wood furniture with wood flooring?
We’re in the process of doing major renos in our home. We live in a small (about 1200 Sq ft) rowhome in Philadelphia. I LOVE farmhouse sinks and am considering putting one in the kitchen. We are considering oil rubbed bronze fixtures (as we also are doing in the bathroom), so my question for you is can we pair that with a stainless steel or chrome farmhouse sink or would the ceramic be better?
What about spray painting the pieces gold ?
Hi Julie !
Thank you for creating these informative videos. Im then process of building. Home will be a warm white with light engineered hardwood floor and white kitchen with navy blue island. I’m going with brass hardware but afraid of using brass all throughout the home. I really wanted black knobs and hinges all throughout but afraid it won’t tie into the kitchen. I do want brass in some other rooms as well. Thoughts ?
Julie Thank you for your in depth detail on decorating. I am working on a re-do of my kitchen open concept living room. I have successfully mixed metals in my living room with 3 shadow boxes in soft gold in decreasing sizes and 3 vases with brushed finish in silver gold and cooper/bronze also in decreasing sizes. The other shadow boxes hv 1 glass vase the smallest has plant. When doing kitchen I love a soft gold light fixture and soft gold drawer pulls. Any suggestions on how to incorporate the other metals of silver and cooper/bronze. Faucets or appliances table setting?
Hi Julie, great segment, this has helped me quite a bit. I used polished chrome in my main bath for faucet and hardware and right now all my interior door hardware is brushed nickel and the front and back doors are matte black hardware. I am doing a kitchen/mudroom reno and was thinking about matte black cabinet hardware and brushed nickel faucet/sink as appliances are brushed. Mudroom (35sq feet) will have black hardware on cabinets as will the exterior french doors that open into the mudroom. My question is, should i change out all my interior door hardware from brushed nickel to matte black? Also, do you think rounded bar pulls on a very slim shaker is a good idea or would that clash?
Too gud
Thanx for all ur ideas
Loving it
As always..😆😊🎊
Thank you for this informative video. This helped me out immensely with a formal dining room remodel.
More confident into mixing metals .. got black appliances with steel handles in a white kitchen with gold hardware n Faucet. Have small house did I mix to much metals?
Hey beautiful. Had to come back to get educated. I am rehabbing my kitchen. I needed to watch this one again!!!! Between you and Tiffany Brooks, I am getting it right!

Ok help please… stainless steel appliances, polished nickel faucet and hardware, aged gold lighting. So does that mean I have four different metals going on? Oh and I forgot rubbed bronze windows
Going to share another one of your videos with my Crafting cousins. We always creating for our homes. They will love the designs and the entire message in this video. You are the Goat of Interior design informational. Thank you so much!
My one question would be if your appliances count as one of your metals? Like chrome appliances. Thank you!
I did appreciate this video.. I really need some help doing an upgrade..
You are so generous in sharing all that knowledge which must have taken years of learning and lots of trial and error for you….. thank you.
Julie – Thanks SO MUCH for this video and all the others! I’ve learned so much. I’m updating our older home since retiring, and your examples and inspiration with furniture, color and metal colors have been great!!!
You are a life saver, and I am so glad I found your channel.A question about unifying the whole home. Once I’ve picked my 2 to 3 metals, do these need to repeat in every room in the home to create the unity, or can one metal carry through and then play off of that in different rooms? Thank you for your wisdom! x
Hi Julie! I like the way you mix metals. I have never mixed metals, but now I will, just got a new vanity it comes with two sets of hard wares brushed nickle and black, I have a nice chrome faucet so maybe with black handles. Your thoughts? Thanks.
I have never mixed gold in the coffee table. I wanted a round marble top with black legs but ebded up with a glass top and marble underneath with gold legs. One thing I noticed it softened the room. Should I paint the legs black?
What would you recommend with brushed nickel? The interior will be fairly neutral.
Your explanations with pictures are so helpful and I now feel vindicated in feeling there are too many matching elements in our kitchen remodel that’s getting started so I need to follow my gut. I’m not feeling confident that I’ll pick the right ones but as least I’m on a path I’m comfortable with.
