I totally agree with all of these!! Word arts make me feel uneasy, I guess because it doesn’t let my brain rest in a space with words everywhere

  2. K Simk on March 23, 2022 at 6:01 pm

I didn’t even knew that ‘Word art’ was at art, looks more like junk to me

  3. monchichiyoshi on March 23, 2022 at 6:02 pm

Oh my bean bags are like budget sensory deprivation tanks. You got to lay in one.

  4. JoAnne Cortese on March 23, 2022 at 6:04 pm

You are so entertaining! I wish you can come stay with me for a month in France to help me renovate our country cottage. I’ve never done anything like decor/design for a house; I’ve always rented. I do want you to know that your videos are extremely helpful!

  5. Gail Wright on March 23, 2022 at 6:06 pm

Hated waterbeds and the ugly cheap wooden frames. If you want to experience sailing this is not the way to go.

  6. issecret1 on March 23, 2022 at 6:07 pm

That Rolls Royce recliner looks like a huge worm. But I totally agree with uber minimalism. I can’t afford to have so little

  7. Charlotte Majewski on March 23, 2022 at 6:10 pm

I love my big recliner but it is in beautiful blue leather

  8. Elizabeth Brower on March 23, 2022 at 6:11 pm

I’ve never allowed a recliner in any of my homes. They are ugly. Cement tile? No. Just no. I agree with you on thrifting. Hate it. I hated macrame in the 1970s. Hate it now

  9. Carly Mercer on March 23, 2022 at 6:11 pm

Edison bulbs come in different Kelvins and different lumens. A couple of my light fixtures came with really dim ones and I think they were 2200k. They were really yellow. I’m getting some 3000k ones to replace them. You can get a range of Kelvins from 2200 up to 4000 I’ve seen.

  10. JessSwin214 on March 23, 2022 at 6:12 pm

I like the more contemporary recliners La-Z-Boy has. I would definitely purchase there still, but the modern ones. Can’t beat their comfort!

  11. C. H. on March 23, 2022 at 6:12 pm

You know what trend really has to go away? Karate chopping the accent pillows after we’ve arranged them. What is up with THAT? It looks ridiculous. Everyone just does it because everyone else does it. Stop it.

The "huck" sound, as you introduce #3 …priceless. Thanks Lisa, for yet another great video!

  14. Sanna Johanna on March 23, 2022 at 6:15 pm

I trust in Ikea and scandinavian style. 🙂 I have bought some recycled furniture, they are design-stuff of well-known designers.

  15. Latrenia Bryant on March 23, 2022 at 6:15 pm

LOL.. Love you Lisa but I have to have my Macrame Plant holders. I agree with everything else on the list 🙂

  16. pinkfreud62 on March 23, 2022 at 6:18 pm

I just ordered a box of Edison bulbs or my kitchen fan in 5000K and 100 Watt so I don’t know what you mean by Edisons being too dim.

  17. Cole Cross on March 23, 2022 at 6:18 pm

    God I hate macrame.

  18. Angineh Haghverdian on March 23, 2022 at 6:19 pm

Hello Lisa. Thank you for the channel and the useful info on it. I want to start a page and am wondering whether I will have any issues with copy right if I use photos from different recourses(e.g. Instagram and Pinterest) and explain on them the topic which is going to be the subject of my channel. I have seen you are doing so in most of your videos can you help please ?

  19. LC R on March 23, 2022 at 6:21 pm

Lisa–I get your feelings on macrame–although I’m sitting in my home office right now with my curated collection of macrame plant hangers which host some happy plants in neutral, glazed, ceramic pots. I hung these as an alternate to a curtain and have been very pleased with them until now! 🙁 I noticed that your answers to the ‘texture’ question of macrame all sported a somewhat African vibe. I don’t want to be guilty of cultural appropriation. Please consider a video with Boho alternatives to macrame that would include a few more ideas and some unique but not cliched approaches to the style. I would love to see it!

Takes Edison bulbs out of target online shopping cart…

  21. Regina Adair on March 23, 2022 at 6:23 pm

Edison bulbs are cute in the right setting.

  22. Lori Wald on March 23, 2022 at 6:24 pm

I’ve recently spent a lot of time trying to find a recliner that was comfy and stylish…. In the end, I literally walked back with the sales person and bought the Laz-y Boy! I spend so much time snuggled up with pillows and blankets to read every evening. I just couldn’t give up the fluffy cushy for my tushy. 🤗

  23. Cynthia Martinez on March 23, 2022 at 6:25 pm

Those floor cushions remind me of dog beds! Lol!

  24. Tammie Corcoran on March 23, 2022 at 6:26 pm

I like your channel, but have to disagree with your take on Edison bulbs. They make a room warm and comfortable. They also look great. And thrift store stuff… totally love it! If you believe in sustainability, then people should be encouraged to thrift!

  25. Shirley Kathan-Sayess on March 23, 2022 at 6:26 pm

I’m glad you explained Uber minimalism. It would be unbearable to live with.
    ❤️ Shirley

LED Edison bulbs come up to 5000k—all the way to bright daylight! And in a variety of different lumens. My pendants and vanities are led Edison’s and at 4000k and 500 lumen 👍🏼

  27. Joanie Hanel on March 23, 2022 at 6:29 pm

    1) I have never liked variegated tile. My friends husband is an architect. While discussing our kitchen face lift, we spoke of back splash. He said the variegated especially with the glass tile and it is going to be dated very quickly. I listen to him!
    2) I have never liked Edison bulbs. I agree they are not bright enough.

  28. monchichiyoshi on March 23, 2022 at 6:29 pm

    Recliner with style doesn’t exist

  29. Sherri H on March 23, 2022 at 6:29 pm

I enjoy your videos so much! Entertaining with fantastic advice, thanks!!

  30. Cynthia Martinez on March 23, 2022 at 6:33 pm

Those floor cushions remind me of dog beds! Lol!

  31. NPKRN on March 23, 2022 at 6:36 pm

Neon word art??? 🤮 That just screams 1980s dance club! Yuck. Very childish and not calming. I’d say its more like migraine-inducing and not appropriate for a classy, adult home.

  32. Arlene hartwell on March 23, 2022 at 6:37 pm

You are so great! I also love the tone of your voice. It is engaging and keeps me interesting. I love your energy. You ooozzzz joy!

  33. Mireya Haro on March 23, 2022 at 6:39 pm

You’re awesome Lisa I love all your videos I’m a huge fan I’ve learned so much from you thank you for that 👍

  34. youbetcha108 on March 23, 2022 at 6:40 pm

I think one of the biggest drawbacks to the grey white trend was that it required one to take out wood tones. Many homes have beautiful oak floors stained red browns or browns which did not go with those grey bright white walls. The homeowner would be forced to change to black floors yuk dust displayers or grey bleached beach house colored floors or white floors like in a hospital. No Thank you😊 give me greens, beige, warms tones to go with my beautiful wood floors and I can handle the rest. Oh and putting one green plant does not make the room warm. It just makes it look like you recognized what you lost. Back to green nature.

  35. Janie Roy on March 23, 2022 at 6:40 pm

Lisa we only have eight Lazy Boys. We love comfy oh,oh, and one couch by Lazy Boy. But, don’t worry we have a nice house. Lol

  36. Charlotte Majewski on March 23, 2022 at 6:42 pm

Macrame only belongs in old trailers.

  37. Maria Barradas on March 23, 2022 at 6:42 pm

From all these no-no’s I only have my backsplash that is fine tiles but they are marble, white kitchen, black granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and marble backsplash white and soft grey up to the ceiling on one side, I still love it, is it dated?…hopefully not, lol.

  38. N Harber on March 23, 2022 at 6:45 pm

My hanging plants love their macrame hangers! I’m currently masking more because I have more plants that need places. But make my own hangers and they’re all unique. Plus, they’re cheap, which works for me while we save money to move across the country and buy a house. At some point I will have my gorgeous Art Nouveau studio space (something I’ve been dreaming of for 30 years) with most of my indoor plants climbing and tumbling so I can feel like Mother Nature herself, but for now, I’m not paying any extra money for plant hangers that won’t work in my forever home. The ones I like end up being $40-80+ for a medium sized planter and mine price out to around $6 each in materials. For now my macrame stays! If it’s any consolation, I make it myself and I make my own patterns and often use beads my grandmother made in her porcelain shop way back in the day, so there at least unique. One day I’ll deconstruct them and take the beads out (they’re sneaking up on being antiques, and they’re hand made and painted by my gran, who was a master porcelain artist) to save and use for something else. For now the macrame is my objectively best option, and I think I do a nice job.

  39. monchichiyoshi on March 23, 2022 at 6:45 pm

Lisa, I was in a house of people who are Uber minimalists and the home was styled in this fashion. However they made an area in the unfinished basement for their kids to do homework and have their toys. I felt very sad that kids are not allowed to enjoy their rooms because they have to look a certain way and instead go to the dungeon for schoolwork and play. I am disgusted by those Uber minimalists. Another thing their rooms had no window treatments. It would be impossible for me to sleep like that. Everything in that house looked like fancy jail. But one with no traces of life.

  40. Trusted Source on March 23, 2022 at 6:48 pm

She seems to like anything that looks like a sterol white hospital room; I’m surprised she does not recommend hanging IV bags as design elements. Maybe she should rename the channel, Hospital Room Design or how to make your home look like a low-budget hotel room.

  41. bcfriar Doyle on March 23, 2022 at 6:48 pm

    These are new thanks

  42. Regina Adair on March 23, 2022 at 6:49 pm

Word art is cute some places. I have none. But that artists work is just weird.

  43. Rica Chona on March 23, 2022 at 6:50 pm

Wow, I like you!!! You’re very practical and realistic with your designs and advices.

  44. Diann T on March 23, 2022 at 6:51 pm

!) Agree about recliners. I would love them, perhaps one of the new styles, but I’d have to test drive first. The old ones – too bulky and cludgy, no thank you! 2) I’m okay with glass mosaic horizontal backsplashes. What I intensely loathe is white subway tile in the kitchen. I get disgusted PSTD vibes of dirty NYC subway stations, and even more so, of the college dormitory bathrooms that were always dingy and dirty. Can’t shake that. TBH, I have never seen glass mosaic backsplashes in any kitchen i’ve personally entered. I might find it refreshing. 3) Agreed, I also hate Word Art Decor. I don’t even care for the versions you like. I think this is more due to the platitudes or the obvious that is so prevalent on these things. If I want to read something, I have books. 4) NO opinion on Edison bulbs. Haven’t seen anyone I know using that "trend". 5) Agreed with Thrifting for Thrifting;s Sake. Unless you need something for garage or basement storage., and you don’t care if it ever looks good. 6) Beanbag chairs were never comfortable even when I was young and a teen. 7) Macrame and cats don’t get along very well. I like your options a lot. 8) Uber Minimalism: Agreed!!! I even find that first photo you showed of a non-uber minimalist space to be too whity-white minimalist for me, (I really like the second space.)

  45. Bill Smith on March 23, 2022 at 6:51 pm

I thought I was the only one who hated horizontal glass backsplashes and "word art"! HAHA

  46. Gage Tucker on March 23, 2022 at 6:52 pm

Lisa… those Ed Ruscha prints start at $40,000. 😂

  47. v lanza on March 23, 2022 at 6:58 pm

Word art always reminds me of some weird incantation…like the movie 13 Ghosts.

  48. Becca Breckenridge on March 23, 2022 at 6:58 pm

I remember water beds. You find the prettiest macramé. Both of these were 70’s. When it comes to macramé I feel like if you made it, you can use it.

  49. The Green Greek on March 23, 2022 at 6:59 pm

You took me back Lisa – yes I did have a waterbed for a short while. Not sustainable for sure! Roche Bobois or Ligne Roset any day.
