DIY FLOORING FOR UNDER $150

DIY FLOORING FOR UNDER $150

After our pets have destroyed the carpet, we though it would be great practice to remove the carpet and replace it with laminate. This way its a win win situation, we get new flooring and our future tenants will have master handy men (us) installing beautiful floor which will help us save money! if we could do it you can do it.

Pull the carpet straight up, then grab a hammer to remove the nails, put everything in the trash. sweep and clean up then on a clean surface stick on your new laminate panel. Stick on all 80 pieces, press down and done you have a beautiful new floor that you and your tenants are going to love for a years to come.

This should be a video of what not to do. If I was a landlord and walked in to see my home I own like this I would be so upset! Ripping the carpet out of the home and the underlayment to put cheap stick on planks down improperly mind you 😤 definitely do not think a penny of the deposit will be returned. This is just terrible all the way around.

For later projects, a shovel works better for carpet tac strips. Lay the steel end flush to the floor and quickly glide it along the floor toward the tac strip. The edge should lift and separate the strip form the floor. After use the claw on the hammer to remove the concrete nails that remain embedded.

Yes 1 box is not enough. I don’t know how you did the calculation. But in the box is gonna say each box covered 20 square feet . Let’s say. So you measure the room . If it’s 40 square feet u buy 2 boxes and so.. an so

Sorry everyone is giving you so much crap. I’d prefer this over the carpet. I have 20 cats and my rental carpet has gone to shreds. I planned to just rip out the carpet and install vinyl completely throughout. They did that with the kitchen, bathroom used the vinyl stuff but didn’t do the rest. RIP. I think you did okay for the first attempt but I always recommend completely removing everything in the room, wash the subfloor and redoing the entire surface. Dont leave carpet under the bed etc.

Listen girls in the box sais how many square feet it cover. Also to know how many square feet your room has you have to measure each wall . ( 2 of the because it is rectangular. The 2 walls that form a 90* degree . Let’s say one wall is 10 feet the other is 8 feet . So you multiplied those numbers. 8 x10 = 80 . So now you know you have a 80 square feet room.

Just curious, but what was your landlord’s reaction to the half carpeted/peel and stick room? 😩You guys should of completed the room to at least leave the place in decent condition for future residents.

Omg!! So they dont appear to bath, or clean, their pets are on the tile as their trying to stick it on. This stuff is not water proof! The cats /dogs will pee on it. The wall panels were filthy when she slid it under. Anyway 🤮 to how filthy these ladies are.
