I am considering living in isolation once my two kids are happily married.
I am considering buying a campervan.
Vans are not so prominence in their looks and can park anywhere. They don’t attract much attention as they look perfectly as a normal vehicle on the road.
This channel really teaches me how to survive in this challenging situation; especially when age are catching up on you.
I live in Malaysia where there are ample of highway rest-over with decent toilet facilities & greenery parks areas.
    Thanks, brother!

On top of my fold out cot I have a 4 inch thick queen size topper that I split in half and then stacked. My sleeping bag goes on top. I’m speaking about my van. Before I went back to work I lived in my car for seven months while recovering from hip replacement surgery. I’m now a retired trucker. By the way, the TA truck stops also carry the butane if you can’t make it to Walmart or a sporting goods store. I’ve started ordering butane from Amazon. Mayonnaise, catsup and mustard don’t need to be refrigerated and won’t go bad.

  13. PhilosophersStonedTube on January 24, 2021 at 7:59 pm

Those gas stoves are not economical at all.

  14. VOIP Portland on January 24, 2021 at 7:59 pm

Did it for a year when I was 20 in a VW Van and two dogs up and down Cali beaches (1980). Now 40 years later close to ready to do it again. Close to retirement why not? Was the happiest time of my life. Of course Social Security won’t probably even be a thing the way things are going, so the next 5 years will be interesting. STUDYING van life all over again.

First aid kits in vehicles are mandatory in most parts of the world. How about the "great again U.S.A."?

  16. Peggy Genoway on January 24, 2021 at 8:01 pm

You don’t need to disinfect pans with water and vinegar…heat from the stove kills all germs.

  17. David Leigh on January 24, 2021 at 8:02 pm

putting opened mayo in a cool place, not refrigeration is extremely risky! I lost power in my apartment once and put an opened jar of mayo in a cooler with ice. It did not get cold enough-I ended up with food poisoning and a trip to urgent care. A better alternative-if you don’t have refrigeration is to buy a box of mayo packets (@500 mayo deli sized packs for about $20).

  18. Gary Wilkus on January 24, 2021 at 8:03 pm

Most of this you can buy at an thrift store and that can save you some money! Or walmart! You can survive OOPS you both just said it!

Didn’t know that butane stove can’t be used below freezing. You saved me from making a mistake, grateful! Now I have to figure out where to put a large propane tank. Will start of with small 1 lbs but want to design for future upgrades.

  25. serena koleno on January 24, 2021 at 8:12 pm

Great ideas. Thank you for sharing! I would avoid the fruit cups. Not much nutrition. Better choices if fresh not possible would be dried raisins, prunes, apricots, etc. Also recommend nuts and seeds instead of those meals full of salt and white flour and sugar. Raw pumpkin seeds are a powerhouse of nutrition. Almonds, chia seeds, etc. May seem expensive, but you get 16 servings per pound. Chia and walnuts are full of omega 3 for heart health. Sprinkle on oatmeal.

  26. Carolina Kraemer on January 24, 2021 at 8:12 pm

  34. John Merchant on January 24, 2021 at 8:19 pm

I use the coleman 2 burner propane stove. For dishes you can buy a $1 dollar tree small tube, actually dollar tree is good for everything it is the $1 store. Now if you are clean, do not look homelesss you can walk into a hotel with plastic grocery nags in your pocket. Eat a free breakfast. Steel some paper plates, bowls, FREE ICE FOR COOLER rEFRIGERATION AT THE FREE FOOD HOTEL. I did this for 10 years. In FL I would get free showers at the beach. In CA you can take free showers at the beach too. Likely at every beach in USA you can likely get free showers at beach. If you are a disabled veteran in FL and likely other states you can get a free entry into state parks and even National Parks. You still have to pay camping fees if you camp. But you just enter the park free, go to camping area, take a FREE shower then leave. I did that a lot. Anyway… thank GOD I now have an affordable apartment for a while. But I really hate tis city because peple are loud. I have a truck now that can tow 6800 so I am gonna buy some land im AZ or NM and live on my land. I hope to get off grid electricity and stay in 1 place. If I get enough land I will offer camping cheap for other people just trying to survive and be happy, I was homeless for 20 years and it sucks

    Common people!

Pressure cooker much safer and chipper to use!

  37. Bob Ham on January 24, 2021 at 8:28 pm

Bob thanks for your helpful tips. i am not sure if you know or if people think about it but one way to stave off being pushed to life in a car is use these same ideas and techniques for living even in a house. tons of people just waste money electricity and water lots of costly things. learning what you are doing here is valuable for your whole life regardless of where you are.

  38. Kathy Myers on January 24, 2021 at 8:28 pm

Did I miss something? He said the stove was like 20 dollars then he said they were really expensive …

  41. John Does on January 24, 2021 at 8:29 pm

2010 I was forced to live in a car by Jeep then I went to pick up and then I went to a bicycle living out of a backpack and now I’m in a big cargo truck and I can tell you right now the truck is much better lots of room it’s a lot of work to put it together just started but I’m mostly in those 10 years and my problems been food getting enough to eat I’ve gone weeks without eating at time bathrooms on her problem we so used to him be till it’s covid-19 started Walmart still allow you go to the bathroom parks are always open and trees are always available and there’s always doorside restroom getting my food problem is food I am having trouble keeping food that I can eat without eating abducted I don’t have a stove I usually get hot water from a 7-Eleven or whatever grocery store has hot coffee and get free hot water to make Top Ramen soup

  42. Lizzie Doss on January 24, 2021 at 8:29 pm

I’ve watched this a long time ago and now..I’m back never get tired of these! So informative and encouraging. I’m looking at a Prius for my next car camping ventureπŸ₯°Thank you…Love Suanne’s setup

Looks like something I would have done when I was younger.
    I’m 80 now.

  45. Tampa Nomad on January 24, 2021 at 8:37 pm

Great video. However if I’m completely honest, this video has nothing to do with living in your car. This is a camping video.

  46. John Merchant on January 24, 2021 at 8:37 pm

There were times I was so desperate for a shower that I actualy hopped the fence of the hotel pool and took a shower at the hotel pool just sharing some emergency options

  47. Shaina on January 24, 2021 at 8:38 pm

Depending on the size of your cooler, you can also go to a hotel with a plastic bag and use their ice machine. Fill the bag with ice. I’ve never had anyone question or stop me!

  48. L C on January 24, 2021 at 8:42 pm

Just terrific information…thank you! I’m looking for a chair that folds up in a really compact way. Your chair seems to fit the bill. I’ll be looking for it online. Thanks again.

  49. R.D. Franklin on January 24, 2021 at 8:43 pm

Always a Harvard education here about being a nomad

  50. lee 0den on January 24, 2021 at 8:44 pm

I think if you could find a blender that will run on propane or solar…making smoothies with protein supplements and fruits and veggies, maybe dehydrated or canned if u can’t find fresh…this is a way to assure you get adequate vitamins and minerals…it could be a very healthy way of life. If u r staying in the forests, what a great place to hike. The beautiful forest.
