What size ac unit do you have?

  5. D Pellchie2002 on August 22, 2021 at 10:29 pm

That thing is going to freeze you out of the Van…😁

  6. top cheese on August 22, 2021 at 10:29 pm

  7. Jann Macdougall on August 22, 2021 at 10:34 pm

this is a great idea..in the winter you could change over to a heater…how is the sound inside?

  8. Renee Martinez on August 22, 2021 at 10:34 pm

Like the setup makes me want to have a van to sleep in but we didn’t get to see buddy in this video

  9. Wander Lost RVr on August 22, 2021 at 10:35 pm

I will be verrry interested in how you’re AC performs this summer. I can tolerate up to 85β€’ in my van. Above that, I was running a Haier 8000 btu portable off my 2000 watt Pulsar generator-simply did not work. It cooles me if I sat in front of it. Van temperature? Maybe a few degrees. Finally I just yanked it out for more space. Now I’ll put a box unit in. Maybe. Time will tell.

  10. Nomadic Sporadic on August 22, 2021 at 10:38 pm

Awesome man, glad you got your AC now. I remember when I had my AC/ Generator video and you commented you couldn’t wait to get yours. I’m also building a cargo carrier, I never liked the ones you buy from the store. Lol

I love your fan I love the changes I love the fact that your palace and what you’re proud of is not something that looks like it was cookie cut out of a RV catalog. Function above form all the way. Dedicated subscriber says have a good day

The only downside with that air conditioner is it’s taking up space in your car on your van you should take that out and put that fan on your roof and put the air conditioner in that back door get a 5000 BTU air conditioner house air conditioner put in the window which would allow you to have more space in your vehicle you’ve taken up more space now because of that air conditioner that you have.. but if you don’t mind losing space that’s okay..

Awesome set up Matty. I’m stoked for you!!!! πŸ€ŸπŸ‘βœŒοΈ

I am still debating window AC vs portable AC for me bus I am converting. Last June my vacation was in 90+ degree temperature, I had the portable AC but did not have a direct vent like yours, good to know that will work well, the vent tubing inside the bus generated as much heat I think as the AC was trying to remove. I like the portable since it involves less cutting into the bus as opposed to a big cut for a window AC if I want it in the back of the bus and not sticking out the side window like a sore thumb.

Overhead cabinet’s over the bed, could help with more storage

  17. RawSanna on August 22, 2021 at 10:46 pm

Hmm… wondering; was that a little glimpse of Buddy there at 10:47 🧐? Nice work :^)

  18. My Van Life on August 22, 2021 at 10:47 pm

Great Job, that’s awesome!!! I did the portable air this year also but atm it is in the passenger seat (used to be) built a table over my frig to set the a/c on top but I really like your idea of where you put it, I think I can do it there too which will give me more room up front for cooking where the a/c is now above my frig πŸ™‚

  19. Katy in NH on August 22, 2021 at 10:47 pm

Looks awesome! So happy for you! As I look at the rear, I was wondering if the black frame around the window on the right could be simulated on the fan side. It might look more standard from 5 feet away.

Really love all that you have done with the AC. Cool!😎

  20. Kari Woodward on August 22, 2021 at 10:49 pm

Thanks so much, this is perfect for my Astro Van. I have the Dutch doors on passenger van and this is the only space and way for me to have ac.

I’m gonna build mine this Month.
    Great idea πŸ’‘πŸ’‘

  21. SoCal Kevin on August 22, 2021 at 10:49 pm

Congratulations on the new gear Matt! I’ve seen some setups where people added fans and baffles to the storage box so that they can run the generator in the box for security purposes.

  22. sticks0012 on August 22, 2021 at 10:52 pm

Probably would have just installed a window shaker were that fan is mounted to save space. The window shaker a/c has fan mode only as well.Kill two birds one stone. In this case three as you gain floor space.

sitting next to me in the dining room where i work on my laptop, my portable ac unit is (14W x 14D x 30H inches, Kenmore model 40584086410, 8amp, 115v, 905watt). i’m pretty sure i have plenty of room in my minivan (7.5′ L, 4′ H, 4′ W), should i decide to keep it and throw it in there. Do you (or anybody) know what the initial power (amp or wattage) draw is on these units other than the rated specs i mentioned above?

The Van is coming along nicely.. take care, stay safe and God bless ✌️😎what brand is the generator?

  30. Maria Betancourt on August 22, 2021 at 10:59 pm

Very nice …..you will finally be cool and safe from heat stroke.
But I worry someone can steal the outside unit, and generator

  33. homers reluctant odyssey on August 22, 2021 at 11:04 pm

i bet a little 5 watt tube amp would fit perfect in that space where the you have the cardboard, guitar gear is essential

  34. enrique rivera on August 22, 2021 at 11:04 pm

Hey bud wher did you get swivel for seat

  35. Expedite Travels on August 22, 2021 at 11:05 pm

Cool set up I like the way you vented the ac unit you did the right thing by keeping the vent tube small and insulating it those things get freaking hot and you lose a lot of cooling power if the tube is left long and uninsulated I’ve learned by trial and error I used to have a portable AC unit in my van but eventually I broke down and went with a window AC seem to work a lot better but in your situation you want to be stealth you’re not staying at truck stops like I do also if it gets super hot don’t be afraid to throw another curtain up to block out part of the van to keep your bed area cooler if you’re having problems keeping the van cool

  36. Marianne Courey on August 22, 2021 at 11:07 pm

Just arriving to this and I love the AC ideas. Can you expand on the "bracket" concept for the license plate vent please? Also, a year later how did the AC work over the Summer?

  37. Alvara DaCosta on August 22, 2021 at 11:08 pm

Yeah, I think it’s a perfect idea to put your AC on top of a crate.. then non of the air will be blocked…nice job. Just in time for summer

  38. Zane West on August 22, 2021 at 11:12 pm

the AC look nice, but the only problem is, that it doesn’t look stealthy.

  39. Van Life With Gina on August 22, 2021 at 11:12 pm
