for a 3 panel sliding door?

Thanks. I’ve been struggling placing area rugs in my home. Now I understand why.

  4. Cindy Marks on February 1, 2021 at 9:56 pm

I knew everything but the rugs. I guess I always do that wrong. 😩

Hi Lisa! I LOVE your design tips!! What I really want to know is this: When I have furniture grouped in a U-shape (say 2 sofas at a right angle to each other, and then 2 chairs on the 3rd side, how much room do I need to leave between pieces for ease of movement, and WHERE do I put the coffee table/ottoman? Thank you!

Where do you hang your drapes when you have 10 foot ceilings and the top of the windows is at 6 1/2 feet?

  11. Gina Malewicz on February 1, 2021 at 10:08 pm

I would like to know how to do DIY drapes with sheers. Drapes that are easy to pull fully open and fully closed as I do that every single day. My blinds strings are breaking because I raise and lower them everyday. How to hang drapes & sheers, a double rod? can the sheers go on a wire with rings, like Ikea sells? I even thought about a track to make them easy to open. Buying drapes is so expensive!

Hi Lisa! Love your videos they are very informative. I was wondering why flat paint is best for walls? I want to use something that is easy to clean in high traffic areas like around doors and near light switches. I find that flat paint "scars" easily and looks dull, I live in NYC and I think the drywall has something to do with it.

  13. Melissa Osburn on February 1, 2021 at 10:10 pm

Thanks so much for your videos. I’ve really been enjoying watching them!! I would love to see a video regarding design tips for decorating with tall ceilings. We bought an 1800-1900 sq ft ranch style house with tall ceilings and a loft that has a bed and bathroom. It feels small as far as space for furnishings but looks vast due to the tall wood ceilings. The ceilings are 20 ft tall in the 2 living areas and kitchen. Any advice is surely appreciated and welcome!!!

Hi Lisa, I recently moved into a contemporary style home which I have furnished with contemporary & mid century modern pieces. I have not done anything with the backyard. There is a pool, deck, and patio. Where should I look for middle of the road (mid century modern) pieces and ideas?

  15. Frances Herrington on February 1, 2021 at 10:11 pm

I’d like to know how to decorate around radiators (curtains / blinds / art etc.)

  16. june corriette on February 1, 2021 at 10:12 pm

Lisa, something I’d like to know is, if you have a square room, and there’s a firplace on one corner, loke caddy corner, and then the walls to the left and the right both have doorways, how should I place my loving room and dining room furniture in there? #homebuiltin1968 🤦🏽‍♀️

  20. Renata Lilly on February 1, 2021 at 10:23 pm

Should you choose a rug in a darker colour or lighter than, for example sofa colour, wall colour, coffe table? What would be the rule of thum?

  21. Belle Ford on February 1, 2021 at 10:24 pm

    VERY helpful!!!
Re drapes: I have 15 ft ceiling in dining room and 20ft ceiling in living room. Should I still go near ceilings to hang them?? I have a limited budget . Advice??

  22. Loret T on February 1, 2021 at 10:26 pm

A most sincere thank you for all the important advice, even even on subjects that are for budget- limited decoration. Really hope that you are in UK and I can queue to have you renovating my home, not just telling me how to make a home looks expensive, but transform it to suit the owner’s characters and liking. Thank you.

  23. Victoria Pinder on February 1, 2021 at 10:26 pm

So if you have a TV stand as I don’t want to hang the TV above the fireplace but it’s against the wall. Does the carpet have to go underneath the TV stand as well or would the rug rule just be for sitting furniture?

  24. Molly Rhodes on February 1, 2021 at 10:28 pm

Measuring tip – If you have an iPhone you have a "measure" app that you can use to draw the item to find out dimensions. Comes in handy when you stumble on that antique shop with the great credenza you have been looking for months.

hi Lisa…what is your opinion on layering rugs? love your channel!

  27. Carmen Salomé on February 1, 2021 at 10:32 pm

Love the piece on area rugs. Please do something on choosing the right size, color, style, and placement.

  28. Veronique Galistan on February 1, 2021 at 10:33 pm

Many use satin for living room and bedroom walls as apparently marks can be easily washed off. Is this true?

Or should one stick to flat paint?

  29. Francesca M on February 1, 2021 at 10:37 pm

I love your channel! I recently moved into a smaller apartment that now has hardwood flooring. I’m trying to decide on a rug size, however my couch and tv stand are against the walls. I know that you mentioned that you can do the half off the back end for the couch but how would you recommend including the tv stand? Or should I not include the tv stand and stop after the coffee table? Any advice would be appreciated.

  30. AnnMarie Heelan on February 1, 2021 at 10:38 pm

Love your ideas can you help me with I am looking for furniture that has slip covers that are washable other than the IKEA brand

  31. Common People on February 1, 2021 at 10:39 pm

It’s unfair that I have been watching your blogs in your channel for a long time already and I haven’t subscbribed. Just now, I finally hit that red button. Your channel is both educational and entertaining (because you inject some fun like when you mispronounce some words and other booboos). Keep it up and soon you will have one million subscribers.

I would love to see you address a dilemma. My kids love sectional sofas. The problem is that I am currently using a sectional that will go in my basement. It overwhelms the room. So I need to go back to a normal (maybe long ) sofa, or a smaller sectional. Would LOVE to see a video specific to sofas vs. space.

  36. Gavriella Youngs on February 1, 2021 at 10:42 pm

Hi Lisa. One thing that worries me about bathtubs is SAFETY. They are slippery insiste, esoecially with soap, do that children and older people, anyone really, can knock his/her head and die. Why are they so popular?

  39. sllbakery on February 1, 2021 at 10:43 pm

I have flat paint in my entryway and hallway – I hate it. So much scuffing. Eggshell all the way!

  40. Dawn Lanham on February 1, 2021 at 10:44 pm

I rent have plaster walls that I am highly encouraged not to drill holes into (I have to pay per wall before I leave). I have a very old and cute craftsman vintage home. I have been using tension rods that do not cover the detailed crown molding around the windows for my white linen curtains and think it looks good but keep hearing that I need to hang them near the ceiling. I like the curtains much better than no curtains. Is this okay?

  41. Donna Bartee on February 1, 2021 at 10:44 pm

I only watch videos done by those who don’t drone on for 20 minutes before they get to their point. I don’t have time for idle chatter in a video. You get straight to the point, nice job!

Suggestions on bedding. Color, solid or pattern.

Thank you, it is helpful and right on time for me)) I am newbie to your channel and I have already watched almost all of your videos, they are really informative👍! I would not use background music for the video or I would make it much quieter than your voice)

I am in a brand new home. We have pieces that we cherish that are pennsylvania house colonial in cherry. Most of our furniture is traditional and we like it but i also find transitional appealing. I also like a simpler look with less is more. The colors are beautiful greige with navy and cobalt accents. I love your ideas on drapery. Lighting suggestions and a round table for 4, compliments of a smaller size dining area. What color table? Chairs are colonial as well, but very expensive. Love your channel!

What shape of rug do I buy under breakfast table? It is perfect round then it becomes oval when extensions are added. If it is suppose to cover the whole oval table, should I size it to its maximum length?
