Home Depot How To Avoid Vanity Scams | How Not To Buy Vanity

In this live stream I walk you down the bathroom vanity aisle at The Home Depot near me and show you all the particle board bathroom vanity caveats to watch out for, how to avoid vanity scams, and basically how not to buy a vanity. We also look at a bunch of bunch of new Home Depot bathroom vanity deals, and show you if these are really good or bad Home Depot bathroom vanity deals. So if you are planning to install your own bathroom cabinets, doing your own DIY vanity Home Depot style, pay special attention to this video as we show you what to look for in a bathroom vanity. Usually the better Home Depot vanity to buy is in the appliance area where you sit down with a sales consultant and they help you choose a much higher quality and higher priced Home Depot bathroom vanity.

I just ordered a makeup vanity online from them, thankfully it’ll be I’m my bedroom away from humidity for the most part, but I’m gonna check out these things when it comes and maybe just have my husband help me build one in the future if this one breaks down

Something to consider are the remodeling trends in America. People are upgrading their bathrooms at a tremendous rate–some people are already updating early 2000s bathrooms just to change the look. A cheap vanity may be an option if you are the type of person to constantly update, say every 8 to 10 years. If you are looking for longevity, then pay the extra price. Remember, a vanity is a piece of furniture with a sink attached to it. Some people get tired of their furniture.

Every time someone buys something at Home Deport or Lowes, China laughs.

Very good info. Thanks a lot.

For the particles board vanities, do you think we can brush the parts with the exposed particle board with a clear top coat to protect it from the humidity? Would that work?

  7. GinaGVlogs on October 23, 2021 at 9:12 am

so if i buy like u say.. how do i know the home dopot top will fit my vanity,, thanx for the video

  8. Jim on October 23, 2021 at 9:12 am

Not cheap. It is called "builder grade" materials. Most families cannot afford OAK.
Secondly… Partical board will last years, unless your bathroom doubles as a sauna. Using the exhaust fan when showering is sufficient to stop any moisture damage on cabinets.
    Unreal!

You only pay $350 what??? How does your cabinet maker make money πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ that’s like $350 in materials πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

I got a particle board vanity from Home Depot with a top for 180. 36 inches , it also came with a mirror I realize this won’t last that long but realistically if I have no leaks , how long can o expect it to last just with the steam from the shower .?

  11. rhonskibeat1 on October 23, 2021 at 9:16 am

Thank you! I’m shopping for vanities right now and was about to get them from either Home depot or Lowes. Can you recommend where I can get better quality vanities?

  12. LoveableEccentricity on October 23, 2021 at 9:16 am

Yup, I just did this walk though this aisle
    today, they are all trash

  13. Joel Cuevas on October 23, 2021 at 9:19 am

All you need is 2 sheets of of 3/4 plywood and you save money just replace the particle board and not paid the 1600 from other places

Can you show an invoice where you’re getting a 36" 2 door, 3 drawer with an inset 3 cut profile and all solid wood for $350. If you can show that ill make your supplier rich by shipping to 3 states up here immediately.

  22. puggleski on October 23, 2021 at 9:23 am

can attest to the absolutely incredible amounts of moisture particle boards can soak up, esp in high humidity weather. bought a wardrobe 3 years back ( suckered in by the finish & cheap price, my bad ) and the damn thing in buckling ever so slowly but its noticeable now. Realized that when i replaced the hinges which had rusted away and broken, cause refitting the doors was a pain.

  23. mica onyx on October 23, 2021 at 9:23 am

I had my vanities custom made because of the crappy craftsmanship and overpriced garbage they were selling at the local Lowe’s, Home Depot and other big box stores. To my surprise the price was about the same more or less but solid wood. This was two years ago before covid hit. Now everything is a lot higher because of the wood shortage.

  24. Jeanette Erwin on October 23, 2021 at 9:24 am

You literally just saved my pocket book. I’ve been looking at HD vanities for my bathroom. Thank you

  25. Tom on October 23, 2021 at 9:24 am

I’m in a the middle of a bathroom project and all the big box stores has all junk press-wood cabinets, they don’t last!
However a good built cabinet 36” wide is over $650 on up! I will keep looking.

  26. Angie A on October 23, 2021 at 9:25 am

Who is your supplier? Thanks for this video, we are replacing a vanity now!!!! Almost bought one from Lowe’s

  28. Maggy Linda on October 23, 2021 at 9:27 am

Before I watched this video I honestly refused to buy at Home Depot and went to floor decor . I am hoping I made the right choice there. I didn’t see them like Home Depot though.

  29. Alicia G on October 23, 2021 at 9:31 am

Thanks for this video. There is a J&K Cabinetry in my area so I will check them out. I was trying to avoid the particle board stuff I am glad I found this video.

  30. Methodical2 on October 23, 2021 at 9:32 am

Bunch of overpriced crap. Good for rentals.

  31. Andrinna Makel on October 23, 2021 at 9:32 am

Thank you so much for this video!

  32. Rohit Verma on October 23, 2021 at 9:33 am

Thank you so much for publishing this video. It was right on point with what I experienced with a recent vanity purchase for The powder room. Cheap particle board that only looks good for a distance. I need to remodel my master bath with a 72 in vanity. We do have a J&K Cabinetry in Atlanta so I’ll check them out. Do they build large vanities and is there pricing competitive with the Home Depot custom cabinets you were showing in the video?

  33. Steve Sajnog on October 23, 2021 at 9:34 am

You said dont buy those but which ones should we and from where?

Who is your supplier? I am remodeling.

  36. OffAirhead on October 23, 2021 at 9:34 am

Yessss. I totally agree. You never put partical board in a wet zone. Ever. I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks this!!

  37. nemo227 on October 23, 2021 at 9:36 am

Thanks, Jeff, but I discovered this video a week too late. I know that I could have built my own, better, vanity but I can’t get to my tools in the garage due to too much junk piled up. I was in a hurry. Haste makes waste. That’s the old & apt saying.

  38. D_RayRN on October 23, 2021 at 9:38 am

What about the cabinets that are wood and mdf? Those any better?

  39. Sergio A on October 23, 2021 at 9:38 am

  45. Pen Knight on October 23, 2021 at 9:57 am

So where do we go to buy a vanity for DIY??

  46. Brian K on October 23, 2021 at 9:58 am

Cockroaches love eating the glue that keeps those cheap chyna made vanities together.

  47. N M on October 23, 2021 at 9:58 am

Yes, I’ve seen these cabinets there and unfortunately, they’re made for those w/out the funds or contractors cutting costs…Thank you for posting cause I do believe these products have no place where there’s water or humidity!
