How I make a Wood American Flag, Flag wall hanging, Wood US Flag
How I make a wood American Flag. Here in this video I will take you through steps I take to make my Flag wall hangings or Wood US Flags.
I really enjoy the time, patience, and even the mistakes I make when making these. Every flag made is an opportunity to improve. To recognize where we could have done better. These wood American Flags are a great way to show one’s craftsmanship and dedication to bringing their creation to life.
One day your wood US flag will be a flag wall hanging on someone’s office wall, living room, or even man cave. It’s important to do it right.

Nice job looks good
Fantastic Job! Thank you for your service! I may have missed it but what are the actual dimensions of the flag? The slats are 1.5” width correct? Length of slats? Fine job sir!
Great Project. Does Home Depot cut your 1×10 to 37" for you? And when you put your flag together is the right end even or do you have to "clean"it up? Thanks.
Love that brother. Do you do orders?
Great video! Made me laugh and I learned as well π πΊπ²
I wish I was a Carpenter. Thank you for this video. β₯οΈπ€π
Awesome video and great work! Where did you get the red and blue stains?
Nice work my brother in arms! Will be starting my 1st flag build in the am…I am going with a bad a** American Eagle carving on the lower right. Thanks for this great video! Stay safe and keep your powder dry in these crazy times!
Great job
I could watch you make these all day! E-mail me @hooksandhammocks@gmail.com with your contact info, I have an idea!
It looks… gud
I used your video to make one for a vet in our church. Nice job
Beautiful flags. I do my flags much like you do. Thank you for your service to both our country and to Freemasonry.

My stain smells like vinegar
Looks Really Nice Bud! Would that Clear you put on hold to the weather? Or is that just a inside decorative piece? Thanks James
I just made a flag very similar. I used white oak and red cedar for the stripes. How long did it take you to carve the stars?? I have tested it and it seems very time consuming! Lol
Bravo!!
What type of wood is that used?
Awesome job!! Iβve watched quite a few others make their flags. Itβs amazing how everyone their own technique. Some glue all the boards in between, and still use wood on the back to hold it together. Some are cutting out a 3/4 piece of plywood, and staining it blue, then either glue on pre-painted stars, or paint the stencil. I like how youβre nice and calm throughout the whole video, and now you inspired me to go out and buy a Dremel with attachments! Thank you, brother, for your service. I was also a brother in arms in the Army for 11 years before I developed medical problems with my feet, neck, and lumbar spine, and was medically discharged as a SSG.
Great job on the flag. I have a couple of questions. What was the color of the stains you used and how sturdy is your flag by just using brad nails instead of glueing each strip together. Finally, how long does it take you to etch the stars.
Thank you
Thanks for the video!! I have made a few but have used furring strips and glue each stripe. Any reason you don’t glue the stripes (easier not to or will the wood expand and crack with glue)? Again thanks for the video and even more for your service.
Enjoyed watching, thanks, very nice job. I make flags similar to yours and wanted to recommend a 4-way pressure clamp. Definitely a big help with assembly. Check it out and keep on building!
Great Information. When I cut my wood slats for a wood flag I end up with a few slats that are curved in the center (don’t know why), causing me to not use that wood or if the curve is not too bad to clamp the slats together tight that results in uneven surface, any suggestion on this issue? Thanks.
Looking good bud! Keep up the good work!
Super Job. I appreciate the attention to detail-signs of a true artisan.
Hi beautiful work really nice have a great day brother
Beautiful, but the stencil is a violation of the Marine Flag Code — not egregious but a violation nonetheless. It’s not exactly "desecration" but it definitely would get the anger up among the flag zealots.
1:26… you placed the stancil over the dark area, missing completely the
wood knot…
I like your style. subscribed
old retired Corpsman here looking to keep myself busy and maybe make a few bucks. Thanks for sharing your expertise sir. Gonna give this a try so keep a good thought for me… I’m subscribed and rang the bell… God Bless
Would you please link the paint you are using? Thanks
What kind of wood do you use?
Iβm learning how to make my own flag ,,watching a lot of videos!! I enjoyed yours, nicely done especially like your demeanor as you were totally laid back and relaxed while do your work, thanks TC from Nevada
Looks orange
Flag looks great! Great craftsmanship πππ
Very nicely done. I’m curious as to the size of the stencil you use and if it’s available on Amazon.
Turned out great! Thank you for sharing. You should indeed be proud of your work.
Great job, but need to automate making the stars somehow.
I don’t currently own a torch. Was looking at the BernzOmatic Trigger-Start Model #TS4000KC or its bigger brother the Model #TS8000KC. Any idea which one would be a better fit for this kind of use?
Good shit devil. Just started making these flags myself. Havenβt done a EGA yet but definitely going to try it for my next one. Semper fi bud. YUTT
This turned out great! Thanks for your detailed instructions.
Looks awesome looking to do one for my cousin he just got out of the army and also one for my friends dad who passed on this year
The market in my area is absolutely flooded with these things and no one is can sell them. Ive seen a few at the local goodwill.
I have checked many woodworking plan sites. I think the instructions from Woodglut are the best.
THANK YOU!!!! Iβve been looking for someone to use a higher gloss finish cause I didnβt know what to use and yours looks great!! Thanks
I love it
Very nice job!!! Itβs great that you take the time in carving the stars & emblems!!! ππΌππΌππΌ
I watched a lot of these videos. I really like the way you did the EGA in the corner. Gives it unique touch. Great idea ππΌ
Great video thank you so much for showing your way! I have made one with some left over wood but I was wondering what kind of wood are you using?
