Im binge watching almost all your video, I’m glad finding your video few days back and since then I can’t start the day without watching 1 or 2 of your videos, very inspiring, I learn a lot from you!! Thank you….
How did you get started?
I like your hat
Aye just wanna say ur van is amazing dude
These are some amazing tips! My side hustle has been offer up for the last one years and I flip almost every of my inventory in my hometown. I still gross four figures every month by going to yard sales near me and selling stuff without even shipping. I love your side hustle passion and think it would be smart to get on a podcast that I’ve been working on. Direct Message me on Instagram @flipmandan
This is pretty phenomenal, your enthusiasm is infectious, joyful and most of all inspiring!
Thanks for being amazing.
Levi great,,Keep on Trucking.
Thank you for making stuff 👏
Loving the evolution of Levi (*^-‘) 乃
Great video 👍 I love the snowboarding clips
How to make money during “van life”: spend 8-10 hours a day inside your van editing a 10 minute YouTube video.
Great to see the goings on behind the scenes and hear a bit about that. Sounds like a good way to vent too 🙂 Glad you’re still doing what you love.
do you sell stock footage ? as well
Love it man, always enjoying learning about how other filmmakers make it work.
yea sorry, I live in New Zealand so I didn’t use your affiliate links. But I did get a gh5 and 12-35mm from watching your videos…
Man, I am amazed at how much work you put into making this video. You all up in the river and s***. That’s crazy. Best of luck to you on your Ventures
Jeremy from Jersey is watching
Like apples, think apples, what is your other favorite fruit, never know what may. Pop up.
I had no idea you live in Vancouver, BC….where I am. lets collab sometime! great channel
The ski pole spikes hitting the back of his head…. yikes
I enjoy your videos a lot! really great cinematography and editing! watching this in my Sprinter van right now, it has a very similar build to yours with AT tires and stuff.
One thing though that people never point out, Running a media company or doing film/photography and other digital art is something i’ve always been interested in. I studied digital art and design as well as traditional art and painting, and it would go well with my hobbies like motorbikes/offroad riding, rock climbing, snowboarding/skateboarding and other things like that… My question however is how do you make the money for expensive filming equipment, drones, cameras etc in the first place without a family that are willing or able to help?
Right now im saving up for full frame mirrorless camera (maybe the new mirrorless canon) and a drone and much more stuff. I also need to upgrade some things on my van like a backup generator, bigger solar panels, possibly upgrade to lithium battery setup.
But the camera gear needed to run a production company costs well over $20K and that’s a low budget… starting small with one camera and no lights or gimbals doesn’t seem to work either as no one trusts you and will pick a bigger company with more gear and employees over an individual even if the individual with less money and gear is more skilled and can come up with more creative ideas and work harder to a higher standard and actually has a good portfolio.
This is where i’m at right now… it seems impossible to get started in anything when everyone else born with more money and rich parents or connections is always one step ahead, and if its not other people its big companies taking over and dominating the creative market there’s less and less space for individuals everyday.
i finished my van last year and travelled all over Europe in it that year with my girlfreind and our two dogs(before all the crap from brexit gets in the way) and now i’m staying in Scotland in the van attempting to work and make money to buy this startup equipment but this first step seems impossibly hard and there’s no way i could ever do it paying rent and living in a house (one of the reasons i built the van in the first place)
Also doing my truck licence this year to work doing that for a year or so to save up as im planning on building a proper 4×4 expedition truck to live in next long term, so ill need the licence either way.
I heard there’s a shortage of truck drivers in Canada and have always thought it would be a nice place to live surrounded by nature and with brexit ruining my plans of working in the EU it may be the right time to find somewhere new to go. The UK isn’t a great place right now to live freely and make money with your own business unfortunately. From research it seems Canda is better for that and people are willing to pay more to creative individuals there for work. As well as the fact there’s more wildlife and an outdoor culture there of action sports/winter sports etc, which is the area of creative photography art and film-making that i would love to do most.
anyway… just my thoughts on this topic that people never seem to cover fully, keep making great videos!
Stay in ur van and you will void corona virus and you will live longer lol. It’s crazy of here in New York
Great snowboarding! where was that located ?
Hey cool. I live in a van on Vancouver Island.
Beautiful content…
Very inspirational! Thank you.
Bro! You’re a legend. Proper transparent. All the best.
Really appreciate the straight forward, honest insight here.
I checked out your work, impressive, nice story telling. 👍
Levi, thank you for these videos. I think the amount of motivation and aspiration that you inspire into us, your subscribers, is way bigger than you realize. It is creators like you, Becki and Cris, Peter, Matti, Gene and so many others that made people like me, with zero knowledge in the video world to pick up a phone, an old camera and start creating something.
And I need to thank you for that.
And thanks to Sqarespace and other companies for spending money on creators like you and the rest of the crew from Spaceatation and enabling you to create informative and relevant videos.
Thank you!
Zoa! I did my first splitboarding tour up there probably around the same time you did (mid Jan!) Loved it and I’m stoked to get more into the backcountry. Thanks for the biz insight Levi. As a Motion Designer I love what I do but the negative is also WAY too much time at a computer… wish I could change that and although I have a (small) van for escapes too, I have looked at your adventure film making van-life-style with envy (or lets say for inspiration) so it is interesting to hear that you still find you spend too much time at a computer editing! Gahhh… Maybe you can hire an editor soon. Personally this video is a great help with thinking about diversifying my income streams..
It idea for you to consider.
Buy a lot in a area away from the city. Up in the hills of Chilliwack as a example. Make sure it’s fully of grid. It will be a challenge of course but if you can make it happen.
The idea is a long term investment. One day you will be looking at getting a house for a future family. Setting up a home base could be a start
Next buy a shipping container. Put it on the property. Fix it up inside so that it’s dry. Over time add some portable solar panels to place outside. Add some storage shelves Use it for a work shop and a short stopover.
I’m sure this idea my sound crazy but in fact that’s how Vancouver got settled back in 1790 . By young families starting with a bit of land.
My father’s name was Levi, combined this with an articulate, intelligent transparent presentation, I have now been introduced to fu and adventure, thank you Levi.
Most excellent.
I just started a YouTube channel, with 66 subscribers right now, but, because of my unique story (building out my van at 17 years old, and combining that with homeschooling and working at a supermarket to be able to pay the full build myself) a company already contacted me to work together! And a fried made custom music for my channel! This is going so much faster then I could ever imagine!
And BTW, I just came up with the idea to help a friend schoolfriend (17) who makes websites and to thank the friend that made custom music! The reactions I’m already getting that I’m inspiring people are soo fulfilling! And the biggest advice I can give is: invest in yourself! I worked 6 months during quarantine full-time in a supermarket, and I’m now doing 3 day’s a week (it was way better then sitting at home). And now I’m spending all that money, and everything that I saved as a kid, on my van, my dream!
Thank you.
What a inspiration thank u man
now do a taxes video
This dude is a fucking beast
If I lived in a van down by the river, I wouldn’t work at all. THAT’S THE WHOLE REASON I’M LIVING IN A VAN BY A RIVER!!!!
anyone can make a website these days its so easy but what squarespace and Wix dont tell you is that those platforms are very very limited in terms of marketing values due to the inherent coding which severely limits you when it comes to things like SEO
I don’t know how to tell a story, teach me please 🙂
yaopppppp
printing money also causes inflation lol
AWESOME! Thank you and be safe👍💝
Thanks Levi – an inspirational video – well done.
Great video Levi. 👍
Thank you so much dude you’re really an encouragement. I’ve been struggling with depression and homelessness for a while I have $50 in savings and I have to get my adventure on. I’m in Orange County California and the rent prices are insane. Gonna really work my Uber job this month and see how much I can save for a down payment. Something HAS to change.
Video starts at 5:01 omg this guy takes forever to get to the point.
I have watched most of your videos, such an inspiration you are ! I am not traveler or an adventurist, all I can say, your videos are literally 10/10. By the way, I also wonder why you still have 135k followers – while many dumb goofy garbage vlogers have millions of followers. Last thing, your videos are better than Caseys’.
