what if you dont have a large architectural element as you mentioned,than how do you choose a species of wood and a color?
I am having trouble deciding which color flooring to pick. I have Maple trim and doors. Plus some maple furniture. Kitchen cabinets are white. Would you suggest to go with Maple to match the trim (which is difficult to match my exact Maple since it has a slightly pinkish tone) or go darker, like dark brown. I like modern/contemporary.

I’m trying to match the stain of my floors because I am refinishing the living room and would like the same color throughout the home. What is the stain color used on the second example for the hickory? That looks like a very good match for me.
