I love this guy. You are so down to earth and transparent. Thanks for helping us DIY’ers.

  2. Mama T on July 16, 2021 at 3:15 am

My issue too for transition from tile to laminate. And the tile guy did exactly what you said, they finished off the tile too soon (who knew??). My daughter and I installed a floating laminate floor and the tile is higher and I can’t do just the T transition. More like the concrete to laminate only in reverse heights. Using the 4 in 1 transition set from Pergo. Had to special order, but worth it for the color match and options at hand for all the door ways. The nice part is they gave us an extra rubber piece to make it all match for the extra height for the underpayment. Sweet! One door is tIle to laminate and the other door is laminate to carpet.

I love your videos. You should see this floor. Looks great and I am proud to say that I am a weekend warrior!

You always seem to have the perfect video for all of my DIY projects. Thanks!!!

  4. steve cook on July 16, 2021 at 3:17 am

Do you put the floor up tight to the transitions or do you leave a 1/4 gap?

  5. landosnet on July 16, 2021 at 3:17 am

I’d love to send you a picture and ask what your suggestion was although i’ll be going back in the morning to deal with it

  6. LLDaLastDon on July 16, 2021 at 3:18 am

So where do you stop when installing LVP if the doors haven’t been installed yet? Would it just be inside the doorway lined up with the roughing of the drywall?

  7. Bill McCluskey on July 16, 2021 at 3:18 am

Just did my bathroom floor with vinyl planks. Learned a ton watching your videos. Plan to do more of the basement after I get the floor level. Your videos are awesome. Having someone else level the floor cause the wife wants it done yesterday lol

  8. Tom Fields on July 16, 2021 at 3:19 am

This is a floating floor, right? When you installed the track for the 3rd door reducer, why didn’t you leave a 5/8 inch perimeter between the edge of the laminate and the track (immovable object) like I assume you did for the rest of the room?

  9. H on July 16, 2021 at 3:20 am

What kind of knife is that? And where do I get that kicking piece if my trim didn’t come with it?

  10. landosnet on July 16, 2021 at 3:20 am

    You did it twice….

  11. SoloClone on July 16, 2021 at 3:21 am

I basically have a big circle in my house…
I need help knowing where to start and which way to go, and if I need to do this in each area.
    Help

  12. Daniel Nauman on July 16, 2021 at 3:22 am

Hopefully you or anyone else can help here.. I purchased a house and the living room has original 3/4" hardwood and the kitchen that is attached has "1/2" plywood with 1/4" sheeting on top and vinyl flooring glued on top, however between the original hardwood and the kitchen there is a 1/4 difference and I dont want a transition strip I want continuous laminate throughout. How to I go about it at that 1/4 difference so no laminate boards are bouncing or popping out of place?

Sorry for the novel of a question

  17. Ghetto Hey on July 16, 2021 at 3:27 am

What about the transition strip for an entry door and the threshold. How is this done

You see that orange thing behind you at 13:56, it’s called a hoover and it sucks up dust!!! 🤣 Great videos though mate I enjoy watching them and have picked up some great tips thank you 😊👍

  19. JG on July 16, 2021 at 3:36 am

Do you not need pilot holes if you were to drill screws right into a wood floor for the track?

  20. Ron Berard on July 16, 2021 at 3:37 am

    WWJD?

  21. landosnet on July 16, 2021 at 3:38 am

  22. Jade Sumsion on July 16, 2021 at 3:39 am

Jeff you had a shop vac behind you. Too funny. Thanks for the video

  23. Mick H on July 16, 2021 at 3:39 am

I know this video was done a while ago but we are only now considering attempting the job ourselves. You have given me the confidence to attempt it because of the way you explained everything in a way that a first timer can understand. Excellent and honest presentation, thank you.

  24. Rudy martinez jr on July 16, 2021 at 3:40 am

you should vacuum the holes and area around before you set the anchors on concrete, why don’t you do it?

  25. Brian Sands on July 16, 2021 at 3:42 am

FYI, insurance claims usually cover every room with the same continuous floor. Every break in floor leaves a “not covered”

  26. Joe Steffler on July 16, 2021 at 3:43 am

Hi Jeff, great video! Is there a video where you cover transition from laminate floor on a subfloor to a unfinished area? Would it just be the same or is there a way to get the 1" difference seem not so drastic? More gradual slope perhaps?

  27. 03greycobra on July 16, 2021 at 3:44 am

What transition piece should be used for flooring of two different heights? I habe tile in my kitchen which goes to laminate into the living room. The piece the builder used isn’t correct and its cracked down the edge length wise. There is mayne 1/4" difference in height.
I plan to lay vinyl in one direction over the tile in the kitchen, and a different color vinyl running a different direction. Also is it recommended to go directly over existing laminate flooring?

  28. Shelly Omasta on July 16, 2021 at 3:45 am

Can I put a transition strip on this vinyl to tile that is 104” long.
    Thank you

  29. Mark Rodriguez on July 16, 2021 at 3:49 am

The way you say process LOL

  30. Lucas Bos on July 16, 2021 at 3:50 am

You could use a piece of solder and wood screws in drilled holes in the concrete

  31. Christen on July 16, 2021 at 3:51 am

Boy this was worth the price of admission. Saved me from making a lot or rookie mistakes. And I’m 71. Agree with the comments. Show the good with the bad. Had no idea they made plastic T-molding channels. Now I know.

  32. Sunil Vasudevan on July 16, 2021 at 3:53 am

    Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the video it helped me a lot in my project.
I did a laminate flooring and at once place I feel a small dip at the interlocking of two laminates. Vertical side. Can you let me know how to fix this. This is in only one place this happens

  33. Glenn Hurd on July 16, 2021 at 3:55 am

awesome job always great information thank you..

  34. Michel Sakr on July 16, 2021 at 3:55 am

    Hi Jeff all,
I have a 1/4 of an inch difference between my tiles and the top of the laminate flooring to install (tiles are higher) I heard from tilers that there are transitioning flooring underpads that can be used to shift the flooring up gradually, any clues on these as can’t seem to find. My other option would be to raise my sub floor by 1/4 inch which is too costly for 8 linear feet combined of tile contact..
Any tips on how to proceed?
    Thanks

  35. Bill Madd on July 16, 2021 at 3:58 am

The toughest one in my opinion to get right is carpet to laminate transition. Most of what I’ve seen getting used is just a T moulding. The problem is that the carpet doesn’t support the T and the moulding gets wallered out relatively quickly. I’ve rarely seen the correct laminate moulding sold for this situation and still haven’t come up with a great solution without ending up with a tripping hazard for that threshold.

I have seen many videos of this guy, and I always find that everything he does is sloppy. I pretty much watch it to see what I will do and what I will do better.

  38. Ashley Takes Action on July 16, 2021 at 4:01 am

this is the most helpful video I have found for laminate to laminate transition on a concrete slab! I have waited to do transitions for about a year, longer on some parts! LOL Thank you for this video!

  39. Megan 64 on July 16, 2021 at 4:01 am

Thank you, Jeff! This information is just what we needed for our next project.

  40. Ron Berard on July 16, 2021 at 4:02 am

Are the screws that you used in the concrete the screws that came with the t molding?

  41. NotJustAnother Mother on July 16, 2021 at 4:02 am

How do we install quarter round @ transition from a kitchen to an open great room that has no door or trim? Everyone shows it with door and trim.

  42. rbaron81 on July 16, 2021 at 4:04 am

How could I do this with Schluter Ditra?

  43. Terry Smith on July 16, 2021 at 4:05 am

Liquid nails works the best no drilling

Thank you for the excellent info. It’s great to see what to do if one makes mistake. Please, if possible, let the cameraman know that when you do something with your hands the camera should follow. Sometimes the camera was in your face instead of your hands. Hopefully, we didn’t miss any part of the process.

  47. Bill Ballaro on July 16, 2021 at 4:09 am

I also agree with Peter H. You leave in bumps in the road and show us how to fix unforeseen issues. Thanks again.

  48. pmartialartsx on July 16, 2021 at 4:12 am

Fuckin psychic man, I had this playing on my phone on the table. I was literally heading to shed to grab my liquid nails when I heard him say that some people try to do that and it’s futile! 🙄 Like at the exact moment 🤦‍♂️

  49. jdsim9173 on July 16, 2021 at 4:12 am

What about transition from one room to another that isn’t the same height?

  50. trobo Boulware on July 16, 2021 at 4:12 am

Qu: getn ready to do flooring in basement, are vinyl or laminate planks better over concrete basement? I noticed that it looks like u have plastic underneath, is that required over concrete?
