Don’t use that tape to mask sockets and switches it pulls paint off with it when you remove it.

  2. Raj Nirvan on March 19, 2021 at 12:18 am

There’s really no need to mask around the windows. Use a 1 to 1 1/2 inch long angled paint brush

Don’t clean oil paint from brushes with nasty turpentine. Soak them in cooking oil of some kind which binds with the paint molecules. Then apply dish washing liquid to bind with the cooking oil. Then wash the whole lot off with water. You can also clean oil paint off your hands that way.

Problem is, all the other rooms will look poor compared with a newly painted room. The door will be bright white on one side and faded white on the other.

Which blue is.that can someone mind telling me ??

  21. ClankyRochet on March 19, 2021 at 12:38 am

A decent paint cost around £20-£30 for 2.5 litre and it will most likely gives you around one to one and a half coat (of course it will depend on the size of the room). You can save some money by, buying a 10 litre white emulsion (usually around £10-12) and mix 2.5 litre of your chosen colour to it. The colour generally would come out pretty close to the desire colour, albeit slightly watered down.

  22. Dan Davey on March 19, 2021 at 12:39 am

What about around that radiator? Take it off surely?

  23. James Griffin on March 19, 2021 at 12:41 am

Never masking tape around sockets – you’ll always get an unclean line! Just unscrew them (no need to mess with the electrics behind) .. you can then paint behind and get a much better finish.

  24. milad d on March 19, 2021 at 12:43 am

    Very good thoughtful tips…

  25. James Watchorn on March 19, 2021 at 12:43 am

I’d always use delicate surface tape on the ceiling once it’s dried so you don’t have to mess about with delicate cutting in which wastes time
