Inspired by the George Wythe House in Colonial Williamsburg, Gidiere partnered with architect James Carter to build her very own on a quiet street in the suburbs of Birmingham. The brick Georgian home is a true show-stopper with an interior and garden that can compete with its curb appeal. From the square dining room with hidden cabinets to the pattern-clad upholstered walls, Gidiere’s personal style is a how-to in timeless and chic decorating.

I’ve seen a number of homes in A.D. of some very wealthy/famous people. After seeing those and then watching this, it becomes very clear how much depth, dimension and daring this overall interior design is. It has a very elegant, mature and European flair to it. It is definitely not an American vibe and though there are hints of modernity, this is a very, very traditional aesthetic which is exquisite. The way in which the fabrics/patterns are used makes the eyes want to move through each part of the room. Much like the scent of an expensive perfume in which there are varying depths in the notes, this design is like that. There is a cohesive and consistent marriage of the outer and inner decor. The personality of the couple is very much reflected in their home and that makes this authentic to the heart of the home.This house is an impressive "business card"/billboard for the talent which this interior decorator has.
On a side note, with a house this size not just in square footage but also in height, housekeeping and maintenance is a full time job. There is either a stay at home housekeeper or a a weekly housecleaning service bec with two dogs and two kids, unless the house is being run like the military, with all those light colored fabrics and surfaces require constant care and attention. It is clear this is NOT meant to be lived in by an average person with the average budget; it serves perfectly as both a testimony for Caroline Gidiere Design and their home….which, btw, they a lovely couple and make an aethetically beautiful family photo.

I love this home because it seems like it is a great display of the owner’s personality. It’s colorful and vibrant. The home doesn’t feel stuffy. I love how the two of them connect and support each other.
