Interior Decorating, Chromecast, & Karaoke
Setting up some new posters inside the RV, talking about getting laptop material to my TV, and Karaoke at the Clipper. I sang “Sandy” from Grease, and “Daysleeper” by REM
Grease one of my fave movies!! Love it!
Hey man, an Apple TV will allow you to use AirPlay from your laptop. However, you will need to have a local WiFi network connecting both devices. You don’t need to be connected to the internet, but you DO need to have both devices on a WLAN.
Chromecast needs a Plex channel. I have Roku in my class A and using Plex, I can play any media on my computer on my TV, including iTunes library.
very cool fridge poster. I think I still have the original toy from Empire 😀
Any video you can play in your chrome browser you can cast. There are ways to stream local content but it is harder.
you need to down load chrome cast app for chrome browser and everything on laptop will stream to tv /so yes with the chrome cast pc add on you can put everything on laptop to tv
i own a pc and i can have two desktops on my computer so i can play a video in one desktop and doing something else in the other. that’s how i watch movies on tv and still use my computer. i dont know if you can do that on a mac but worth trying
Good video
Hey Eric, did you ever think about working up a 1 or 2 hour set of solo singing/guitar work? You could offer to do shows at rv parks for free camping. As good a singer/player as you are, I bet you could pull it off easy!
Thats a great idea but what happens when you want to take the posters down? Adhesive residue? I want to do a western sky mural in my bunk area but probably not going to keep this present motor home. Glad to see you are posting and still having fun.
what about apple TV?
Love to hear you sing
check out Plex, that will let you stream content from your computer, video, music pictures etc via wifi. check it out, its free too.
X-Files and Star Wars it cant be better than this man! You are awesome for putting them in your RV…My sister always was into X-Files and i was into Star Wars whan we was small 🙂 Still cant live without them 🙂
wrapping your cords in aluminum foil will stop jax from bitting them.
Stop, Stop….Don’t sing, …..please…..LOL
Use Plex ( https://plex.tv/ its free for the computer small fee for the app ) with your chromecast and you can stream most video files directly from your HDD. You can also "cast" any tab in a chrome browser. So pretty much any video you can view in the browser can be cast to the tv. ( You have to install the Google Cast plugin )
Nice karaoke man! haha you nailed it!
like what you have done with the fridge eric…id probably s**t myself if i was going to the fridge for a midnight snack and saw that lol ……..please give jax a cuddle from me.
Nice video Eric especially the end bit `whoa sandy baaybee` who doesn’t love grease songs 🙂
Lmfao wow
Are you saying Chrome Cast you have to pay for? I’m sorry if this is above me.
You save me on the Chromecast deal…I was going to get one… thanks !
WOW I didn’t know that about chromecast thanks for the info.
GO HAWKS!!!!!!
You got a pretty good voice Eric! 🙂
I must say…it’s officially true…YOU DO HAVE THE COOLEST FRIDGE ON THE PLANET! Han frozen in carbonite on your fridge? TOO COOL! I also love Mulder’s UFO poster too…X files rock! Your best bet to stream video is definitely your laptop. Unlike other devices you can go to any website that you want to stream content, not just the pre-programmed paid sites. As for DVD movies, I would think HYPOTHETICALLY that you could go to the library and borrow a few DVDs (if they won’t let you check them out) while you’re there and rip them to your hard drive, watch them in your RV later, then delete them when you’re done. Wireless HDMI connections are expensive and probably not worth it…and you can buy a lot of HDMI cables for a lot less. If you skip the stereo sound and just go with the TV sound you’ll save your battery juice and it usually sounds pretty good too…just a thought.
Oh and btw X-Files Season 10 will come out this year on the FOX channel 🙂 Just letting you know and i think i dont have to say that new episode of Star Wars coming out this year too :))
Good voice but HORRIBLE choice of songs.
Like the fridge!
Rub hot pepper on the electric cord to keep Jax off it.. Also how is your job search going?
What if you wrapped your cords w/ foil. Maybe Jax will leave them alone. Great videos.
♫ I♪ ♬ sure enjoy your videos. Finding a new video from you is one of the best parts of my day. I adore Jax.
Loved hearing you sing "sandy". Keep on keeping on, Eric. ♪ ♬ ♪ ♫
Why not just put films etc on a usb stick then plug the usb stick in ur tv?
Such a cool frig!!
I use Apple TV 2 with XBMC and I stream anything TV shows you tube computer or from any device & it works great transferring it to my 26 " TV in my toy hauler Rv I also use clear as my wifi provider with a clear spot for $55.00 per month unlimited internet & it all works great together… Just a thought
Eric, The cable is probably just fine, but the Chromecast can broadcast files off your laptop to your TV… At least on Windows. You can use a few different options. I use Plex Media server which is an incredible little bit of software (I bought the lifetime subscription) but they have a perfectly serviceable free version that should work for you. I believe it is possible to stream from VLC Media Player as well. If not yet, then in the future.
I ultimately ended up just using a cable like yourself, though, to push stuff to the TV. You do have more control than with a Chromecast. I still use Plex for viewing videos from my desktop on my smartphone, though :).
Nice fridge, too. Doubt my wife would let me do that to my fridge XD.
You have a very good voice! Thank you for singing cause that was very good!
Thanks for the decorating ideas and tech info, always entertaining watching you. Like the idea of showing some history in your area.
Eric
You definitely can stream from computer to your TV with Chromcast. To get Chromcast to stream to your TV, you need to get you a wired or wifi network router and connect the TV and the computer each to the wired or wifi network. Very easy and cheap.
So, how would you stream any of the paid services you don’t have without internet?
When will you post your updated video with expenses? Really looking forward to that.
There is a good app for your mac called NoSleep. It will allow you to shut your laptop without turning off anything. Just don’t leave it on and forget to turn it off if you disconnect from power, it will drain your battery as it continues to run while the lid is closed.
For internet have you ever tried the Mobile Hotspot? I don’t know if they have it out in Washington, but here in Michigan Wal-mart has straight talk and they have a mobile hotspot which provides internet (wifi). The plans start at $15 for 1GB up to $75 for 7GB. I just got one 2 days ago and loaded it with 1GB. It runs my laptop slow, but my android phone it runs fine.
Cool stuff, man. Thinking about some upgrades to my travel trailer’s AV system, also. Looking for a Blu-Ray player that also has a Bluetooth receiver. Also, a Bluetooth stereo for the F-350.
Cheers + Happy Trails!
To keep a cat from chewing a cord, coat the cord with a substance the cat doesn’t like — essence of orange peel or any citric will do. There are other things, but these you get to eat the fruit.
I am watching right now.
Wow! The karaoke was great! Enjoyed it but show us more!
Singing can make the most depressed person happy again… It works for me!!!! Safe travels!!!
Not bad singing BTW!
great posters………
