Hi Julie! I’m in a pickle. We just installed new flooring in the living room. When the sofa was reset, I realized that the muted floral pattern is set in a warm cream. The new floor is a cooler tile patterned beige. What can I do to bring them together?

    Julie…
OMG!!! "Design for the lifestyle you want "… Speaking the truth and dropping the mic!
I followed your steps , they are on point and they truly work. On the past, you had mention the use of Pinterest to find what you like and not. As many of you I like a mix of styles. In my opinion, it makes a lot of scene to do that first since our style is in constant evolution. My style and needs from a year ago are not the same of today, especially now when we are working and staying full time at home.
    THANK YOU…THANK YOU…THANK YOU!!!!
I’m on my way to have a place that I deserve. I think ( hope) you will feel proud of what I been able to accomplished thanks to your style videos.
I truly looking forward for the completion even though as you mention the design is always a work in progress.
    From my place to yours…
Be Safe, Be Healthy, Be Well
    💗🙏

Julie, I am building a waterfront home with a wall of windows that look at the water. Should my fire place be center on the side wall or in the corner between the windows and wall?

  16. Sheidalisse Clavell on February 6, 2021 at 8:42 pm

Thank you! This was very helpful. A series about each of the steps would be awesome. I’ve been married for 17 years and have never been able to get my home decorated. I’ve had the idea and color palate for years. Budget has been a challenge, but the main thing has been fear and telling myself I am not cut out for this. I’ve decided to educate myself enough to be able to start exploring and bringing the ideas to life in my house. I’m literally watching your videos over and over and taking notes. I’m starting with the living room…can’t wait to see the results!

  17. Kelli Pereira on February 6, 2021 at 8:45 pm

How do we know what size specifically is appropriate for the room measurements? How much room should I leave for pathways? What measurements for the negative 9empty) space, not just the furniture? Love your channel!

  18. Abby Grimaldi on February 6, 2021 at 8:45 pm

    Great advice, thank you!! ♥️

  19. Desiree Ranger on February 6, 2021 at 8:46 pm

Omg. I can’t believe you just said I’m a mix of all kinds of styles. That’s so inspirational. I live in a fairly modern townhouse but love traditional moldings. Lots of moldings lol

PLEASE! I want to redo my office, but I am a little overwhelmed in how to get from here to there.

  23. Peaches EVY on February 6, 2021 at 8:50 pm

I can’t tell you how much I love this step-by-step overview and introducing the foundational idea of how one wants each space to function. My husband and I are moving into a new apartment; he values function above all else (e.g. loves to leave the wrestling mats out for convenience, doesn’t care about aesthetics), while I find myself conflicted between my own love of convenience and aesthetics. Following your guide here, I created a spreadsheet to detail out each space in the apartment and the steps you recommend to plan out how to set up and style. Learning a such great deal on how to balance function, cleanliness, and style! So glad we discovered your channel! Thank you so much! 😘😘

  24. cynicalfirebird on February 6, 2021 at 8:51 pm

Find my style is a good idea! I want the sun soaked beachy w a little Spanish/Mediterranean look, but I live in the Pacific Northwest … it’s dark and rainy here! A”How to “ accomplish this look would a great video!

  28. Sheri Riker on February 6, 2021 at 8:54 pm

Julie I love your videos!. I’m so inspired by the ability to buy new or buy e bay or just using personal memory items, mix and match. I am really having trouble picking colors for the walls. I have an open floor plan. I want to use a little darker color e.g. caramel.. in that family. I have a yellow buttercream color now. It looks nice but I want more personality. Any recommendations…color can be difficult to see on a large scale

  29. Sabrina McNeal on February 6, 2021 at 8:54 pm

Love this video! So helpful. Really love the idea of drawing out the room with measurements and using pictures of items I like to help with creating a picture of what the room might look like with the pieces I’ve chosen!

I’m curious would you do one room at a time and can the inspiration be different…? And if so what happens when it’s an open concept house how do you tie everything together?

  34. Darlene Craddock on February 6, 2021 at 9:04 pm

I definitely need help in finding my style. Every thing I have seen seems muddled and undefined. That defeats the purpose. Really like you channel and enjoy your personal connections with your viewers.

I am a mess when it comes to design interiors. I like a lot of options and change my mind all the time. How much do you charge?, for example, to design a kitchen or a basement?

  42. Naima Haddou on February 6, 2021 at 9:13 pm

Julie thank you this helped me a lot. i have a question, we just bought a home. A lot of homes in Holland are a lot smaller and have very different windows then you do in America. Can you make a video about windows that are uneven. We ourself have 2 windows that has very different sizes.

I need help with my country guest house which will have a great room and two baths, small kitchen. I like the feel of understated French Country blended with my traditional furniture. Great room is for visiting, relaxing and enjoying the lovely views.
