Interior Design — Expert Decorating Tips For New-Build Homes
Designer Jenna Cadieux shares how she transformed a new-build into a warm and inviting home for a family. Get her decorating advice and tips for using layers and texture to bring coziness to spare, modern spaces.
To divide the open floor plan, Jenna used light fixtures, area rugs and drapery to delineate the living room, kitchen and dining area. In the chef’s kitchen, three geometric brass pendants hover over a large island, bringing contrast and warmth to the space. A mango wood dining table grounds the eat-in area just off the kitchen, and is accented with a mix of chairs for a more casual, laid-back look. The living room boasts a marble fireplace with built-ins on either side, which Jenna brightened with stylish vignettes. Caramel, pecan and ivory tones layer color into the room, while a large L-shaped sofa provides comfort for the entire family.

Simply gorgeous!! The brass pendants are exquisite, and all the seating looks very comfortable. This space is very warm, as it was intended to be. It would have been great to see the bedrooms and bathrooms, too!
White, black, every shade of wood color, and gold !

Very interesting video. It is very important to know that one doesn’t need to completely renovate and redo their first home. Once settled, one must know how to use every space in the house; one of the best ways is to buy things like furniture accordingly.

I thought in the beginning those were the before pictures.
The family room is optically beautiful but no comfortable. Sectionals are awkward for lounging on and the accent chairs, while really cool, are not chairs you can sink into and watch television. That said, this may be more of a conversation space and any serious, game day, tv viewing takes place in theater room or other space?

Beautifully done but a bit too white for me.
That sectional is two totally different shades! Lol it’s not like it’s a lighting or shadowy issue, it’s like a one is more beige in undertone while the other is more yellow in undertone issue. Reminds me of my dad’s old sectional that I kinda hated bc of the low back! My eyes also can’t help but notice there’s a serious need for height variance in that space… the easy option being some kind of "wall jewelry" flanking the fireplace…pref. asymetrically, decent height lol. This room feels uncomfortable and outta balance to me, and for some reason I’m over here just sharing my opinions like they’re gold af! lol there are elements that are lovely as well.
I would like to share my experience with you , your job looks very well .

almost all videos from house & home channel have white houses…
Very nice, but I would have added some color in the dining room curtains that would echo what’s in the lounge area. It’s way too white. Darker curtains would also be a better backdrop for the heavy/dark table and chairs. I prefer that you look at the camera. It feels like you are talking to me instead of someone I can’t see off to the side. Best from Indiana!
