I had some flooding and water got under the vinyl wood-plank flooring. I’m stumped as how to dry it out. What can I do about this?

  2. upsidedown on September 22, 2021 at 11:51 pm

I don’t think that’s what backer did is used for. It’s too fill the gap so when you silicone the edges you don’t need as much silicone. You silicone the edges to create a water proof edge on water resistant laminates. But good job on the install.

When you have one of those snap and lock pieces against the wall with a quarter inch gap, are you supposed to trim off the tab on the wall side, or do you just leave it on?

  5. Paula on September 22, 2021 at 11:53 pm

do you not put anything underneath the laminate flooring

  6. george mcmenemy on September 22, 2021 at 11:54 pm

Just curious if the installation is on a concrete basement floor and wall trim removed still would you recommend still using the backer rod. Thanks

This was brilliant – thanks for the attention to detail. I have a marble threshold that I will be going up against and was hoping to get a tip from how you dealt with finalizing the transition around stone hearth but it wasn’t covered in the video. What do you suggest around details like that? Thanks!

Thanks for the vid bud. Im a drywall plasterer experienced in carpentry. I have helped do floors and about to do one for myself. My question is about the foam packing on the backboard perimeters. Is that to form resistance to expansion so you dont see it in the butt joins?

Hey! I love this video. I’ll be installing laminate flooring in my home and I’ll be watching this video every step of the way. I have a question though, I see you used some tools that you did not mention at the beginning of the video. For example, the tool you used to make small detailed cuts in the laminate when installing the first row. Do you mind listing all the tools you recommend for a beginner?
