My long term plan is to buy a cheap crumbling apart house with one of those back yard alleyway access back fence and to section off enough space for a stand up van and a small vegetable patch. The idea is that the income from the rental and some seasonal work will be more than enough for me to travel in the van and always have a spot to park for winter.
Mama Van. I like it. Goodness
as soon as my brakes are fixed on my truck I’m devoting the next 9 months to convert to this lifestyle.i am 56 years old and want to travel and see the USA now cause I may be dead when ss kicks in.im a nurse and figure I can work a few months and save and travel.im wondering if I should get a van or pull a small camper.im not sure.i think a van would be better to have everything with you all the time.im excited and my kids think it is a great idea too.thank you for all these encouraging videos.great job.
Theres my buddy!! Lots of love to Scout, too 🙂
Does anyone know if she got her van built? hope she’s doing great!
You all do great interviews! Very interesting folks. Thank You!
Habitat for humanity has used cabinets I’ve heard from other vandwellers. Savage RVs for repurposed items as well.
Nasty! Throw poop away after each poop! Gross!!!
Nice lady and interview..Thank you for the video..Have a Blessed day..
Good to know about the batteries
It would suck to retire and end homeless and hopeless like this lady. Best wishes!
"It’s a GREAT HOME?" Yes it’s a.nice van and it’s a blessing compared to sleeping outside on the ground or in a shelter. BUT NO VEHICLE IS A "NICE HOME," FOR A HUMAN BEING ! NO IT’S NOT !!! This woman like other law abiding people, DESERVE adequate (with a full kitchen, bathroom, heating, and space) housing, just like most people in the West already have. Sad that simple housing is OUT OF REACH FOR AMERICAN POOR! A COMPLETE DISGRACE TO THIS GOVT!
She’s a great lady! best wish’s for her. Hoping she’s getting help you guys. Thanks.
Great info to know! Thanks!
Just thinking…
LaVonne Living In LaVanne???
Nice ring!!!
I mounted my solar very similar on my Transit connect. Centering it like that makes stealth camping easier. I put mine closer to the roof of the van though so it is even harder to people walking or driving by to notice. You obviously could tell if you were looking for it. However, if you aren’t looking for vans with solar panels on them you are a LOT less likely to notice it. Basically, it doesn’t slap you in the face.
You should be proud. Thanks for the inspiration.
Great video. Thank you.
Very informative, thanks for asking the right questions cause she shared a wealth of information and knowledge that made good sense. Thank you!
Great interview. 😊
Great info…. Lots of info I need to know
But, she had to buy AGM batteries n pay someone to install it!
Kendal~thanks for the interview. I felt like you covered all the basics & made her feel @ ease, also being a woman. 🙂
I hope La,Vonne can find someone with some building and plumbing skills to give her a hand. She’s living free, but it could be freedom with a little more comfort.
God bless you and happy trails, may I suggest 12 one gallon jugs, it seems like a lot but they easy to pick up.
La,Vonne, what do you do with Scout when you have to shop ? Have you ever left her in the van ? If so, has anyone ever said anything to you about leaving her ?
smart lady
Great Interview, God Bless you LaVonne !! 🙂
I have been watching a lot of nomad living video’s and I can see its not cheap.
Nice lady hope she gets her extra panel and things well done to her and thank you for the video.
What happened to the other video’s of the ladies who are full time Van or RV dwellers?
Great interview and thank you for being honest about cost.
Very helpful, thanks
Nice van and hope that lady gets it fitted out in time. You just have to do a bit at a time and it will be the way you want it eventually.Fantastic and all the best from UK.
I have to do it but I am looking forward to the challenge.
Very inspiring! Question for Lavonne – I found 2 of her podcasts on iTunes, but it says they are unavailable. Any updates on them?
Tell her to get two wine bottle corks for those jugs and cut them to size. Works well.
Great video!!
What is stealth camping ? Sorry, I’m a newby. Thanks xoxox
can any ladies tell me how do you cope with the monthly periods ???? living in van
The little plug on the water container is a vent. Air needs to enter the jug when pouring liquid out the spout or the container will start sucking in.
what a lovely lady! and a real doggie lover x
you can cut new covers from a plastic milk jug my husband does that
a thought ….. is cut 2 yogurt lids …tops to the size of your water containers screw top and just screw back on…tadaaaa…I love little ways to fix things…hi great vid..thank you
Thanks for the candid interview gals! I soak it all in every chance I get cuz I’m gonna get there, just don’t know when. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve been restless since my early 20’s and I’m 49 now. I have a home and I’m very comfortable, but I long for freedom and simplicity. I don’t mean to say it’s going to be simple on the road, but maybe different priorities is what I mean? Thanks for the video! She who dies with the happiest memories wins!(Bob said that)
When u film u should not show the vans license plate!
check out my cargo camper build, I will be uploading my trip to Ga. to pick up the trailer also the build and my travels around the country https://youtu.be/wDgzkgaUyXc don’t forget to subscribe.
It’s been 5 yrs since this video was posted. I wonder how LaVonne is doing these days?
Shes seems a little unprepared to do a video about her living situation but this was still entertaining none the less
What I love about this video is it shows how you can live simply and be happier and free without alot more than a van and nature. ive been a renter all my life and have the obvious fears of what it will really be like living on the road and about will police harass etc she helped clear that up. i have a income i work for myself and im disabled and im also a college student. the interviewer was awesome and non judgemental. i am planning on buying a used motorhome but also considering a van and looking forward to this lifestyle. the lady said she was a indoor person..well being out in nature will only make you healthier im a indoor person too and in some ways being forced outdoor more via van or rv living will be good for my health. i wish you all the best
