Been on this drive. Did not know about the beach with colorful stones. Two things come to me as I watch these people and their vans: First, is whose living arrangements are more energy efficcient. My house is so horrible, I’m sure Nikki is the winner, even with all the miles she drives. But I once had a residence way better than hers. Second reflection: Are these wanderers reacting the same way Jack Kerouac reacted to the monstrosity of a world war ending with two incinerated cities. Oh, she isn’t a Beatnik, but maybe similar circumstances get similar human reactions. Camus said you have to erect your own value system and live it. Nikki does seem in that process.

Oregon is beautiful. Too much meth, though. Last trip to the coast, nearly every stop had a user or a group of them sniffin’ around trouble. Law enforcement does little to nothin’ about it. I miss the beauty but not the people or the drugs.
