Makeover: Modern Green Country Kitchen
Makeover: Modern Green Country Kitchen
Designer Cynthia Soda takes you behind-the-scenes of this dramatic heritage kitchen makeover. See how she updated the dark and drab space with a modern farmhouse feel, using striking green cabinets, mixed metals and touches of black and wood. Matte porcelain countertops are both hardworking and luxurious, while shiplap detailing on the vent hood and island injects country flair into the family hub. Plus, you’ll love how Cynthia transformed the stairwell into a petite office nook.

Cabinets, tile, seats, counter tops, island top, and floors look great but I just don’t get that hood or bulky shiplapped island. I get that it’s black for contrast, but the shiplap and rustic trim? Since when was furniture ever shiplapped like that? It doesn’t look "found," it looks like a strange modern Rubik’s cube.
Love.
I like the design but not the green and the big, black pieces.
The green would be a medium, slate grey and the big black, focal pieces would be red.
I would have no wood tones in the trim or smaller pieces; perhaps blacken those as well.
The floor would be ceramic, ultra-light grey to brighten and open up the space.

My only complaint is the cat being allowed to walk on the surface to cook on. Ugh! Otherwise, lovely.
I spent most of my budget on the down payment on my new house. When it came to upgrading my kitchen, I had enough for new appliances, painting the cabinets and replacing the countertops. UNLESS you are willing to spend $50,000 or more on a kitchen, not one contractor, Home Depot or Lowes even want to deal with you! I give up – I’m buying the appliances, painting my cabinets and now looking into refinishing the countertops. It won’t be quite as nice as this one but with a lot of time and elbow grease, it will be close!
Love the mix of ideas . Farm doenst have to be florals and all wood people . Learn from this
Wow!! And that cat <3
My eyes have Kitchen envy..
Every feature is Chic Elegance as well the high slatened beam
Stunning!
Beautiful!
I like the green but not the white cabinetry. This type of backsplash to me always ends up looking sort of dingy next to white cabinetry. Maybe a mint green on the uppers?
What a beautiful colour Scheme … My new kitchen is Laminex Possum Green for the base cabinetry and Laminex Espresso Lunga
After: beautiful before: beautiful. Somebody just needed to spend money with.
In what world are cats on kitchen counters acceptable?
ok but it’s like she pulled the perfect kitchen from my brain like THIS is exactly what i want
Love the kitchen, but I’m envisioning Christmas cookies with cat hair dangling from them. So gross.
Not gonna lie, the shallow cabinets are a clever use of space. I still would not store glass jars in there for fear of falling, but plastic and paper items yes.
The muted green cabinets are a welcome change from dark blue cabinets everyone and their mother are using in their designs.
Not sure about that shade of greenish-grey. :-O
Im at 1:53 Before I read the comments…Prediction: Oh they’re gonna ROAST her in the comments!
Beautifully done!! The cat crawling on the countertops created a small panic attack for the "sanitarian" in me, but overall, very pretty!
Its gorgeous
It’s amazing makeover
I love the two-tone cabinets. So the countertops are porcelain and not quartz? They’re very nice!
and tha cat up there. .. disgusting
Love it looks so unique, eclectic and modern at the same time!!!
@0:49 And cat on floor waiting debut! Eyes says: 𝘙𝘌𝘈𝘋𝘠? @1:07 𝘊𝘈𝘔𝘌𝘙𝘈, 𝘈𝘊𝘛𝘐𝘖𝘕 = Yuk!

@houseandhome I’m obsessed with thouse types of tall kithen chairs! Where can I get them!!?
Don’t like the kitchen. Too many colors.
Such a beautiful modern farmhouse kitchen! I absolutely love the mixed metals and two-toned paint. Those green cabinets are gorgeous! 🤩💚
No animals in the kitchen. Ugh.
Well hello chubby kitty
So beautiful and cozy.
"Oblong diamond"
Looks like a hexagon to me
absolutely love the green!!! and the backsplash
Love this!
Beautiful!!!

Leans toward industrial more than farmhouse.
video director: let’s capture its natural beauty
cat: clearly talking about me and not the kitchen
