Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but Geyser System’s shower system is quite awesome, and you can take a 7 minute shower and uses less than 1 gallon of water! Quick tip: Don’t stay the full 14 days in one spot. Split into 5 day chunks and move then it’s more likely you’d get away with staying inside the same NF more than 14 days. I actually don’t know if the 14 day rule applies to the whole NF. That doesn’t make much sense actually.

Why can’t you shower in the forest with a shower tent?
Looked like the ranger was enforcing but not too scared to wear a mask…interesting!
I wonder if going over your time limit put you into their system so all the others patrolling would be looking out for your vehicles, etc? And that if you had moved before going over your time limit it would have pretty much reset the timer back to zero. Or do you think they have some kind of master database where all vehicle license plates get tracked regardless of how long you stay at any one spot?

Kids…Amazon; Ivation Shower Pump. $30 bucks. 5 gal. bucket. anywhere for about $5 bucks. Shower Tent; could either ‘fashion one’…or buy one. ( I have the larger ‘Green Elephant) Why the hell worry about ‘driving distances…to find a shower…when you can just…Bring your decent shower with you. Granted…won’t always be piping hot…but…search the ivation…on YT. i timed mine…and i can take a full ‘6 minute or so…shower…with 5 gallons. Now…summer is upon us; so…just get your water…leave it out in the sun, on the ground at your campsite for a day or two…and …guaranteed…the water will be ‘temperate’ or tepid…or even, Warm. Shower in privacy in the boondocks….with no one around…your timetable…your convenience…and your not having to wait…2 weeks…( "ugh…Gross!) Between showers? i don’t understand why ‘more van campers…aren’t ‘Hip to this? …be safe. and…rig a god damn simple shower setup like most Van Dwellers!! Lol!

When I was in the military, I got really good at doing field hygiene when I was in the middle of nowhere for long periods of time. Here’s my method:
1. Get a big plastic jar and put in some water, a few soap chips and a washcloth. Shake it up to make suds, then use it to wash everything from the top down.
2. For shaving, hang up a small signal mirror and use a collapsible wash basin purchased from Brigade Quartermaster. (You only need about two cups of water.)
3. For hair, pour half a canteen of water on your head, use some unscented combination shampoo/conditioner, and rinse with a full canteen of water. (If you have tons of water, you can splurge and use a gallon jug.)
4. Dry off with a soft towel, put on clean clothes, and you’re good to go.
This method takes awhile, but it’s well worth it if you’ve gone without a shower for more than three or four days. (Plus, during this quarantine – what else have you got to do?)
What happened to the portable shower you had before? Did it quit working? Curious because I’ve been looking into buying one.

The solar showers seem to be the trick. Hang a black bag in the sun and a couple of hours later hot water.
I am glad you are at such a good spot. It seems every time I see someone on YouTube camping on BLM land it is the hottest and most scrub brush areas. The only thing is are you close to a lake or stream? If so, SHOWER! Also, Shannon do you have water purification in your van’s water system? Do you have any water purification? It might be something worth investing in even if it is just a portable one. There are a number of different kinds to use. Also, it would be handy if you could not find potable water and needed some.
I think this is going to last in some form for awhile. Plus it is not going to be the same after.

Why not just carry a ZODI camp shower? I found an unused one on Marketplace for $20 😳

i can not understand why for the life of me people choose to not have a shower/wet room w/toilet of some kind in their van. right now i am saving to get my van/box truck/ambulance, whatever it happens to be. and i would rather have a child sized bed and almost no storage with a silicone pop up sink and single portable burner over not having a shower and toilet closet.
good on ya for trying to get away from civilization during this time. people are very ignorant or very scared and neither know how to act right. my job was deemed "essential" and we have been required to wear face masks and about 40% of the people are refusing to wear their mask over their nose. like you have just defeated the purpose of the mask. the mask does not do a great job (75%) at keeping you from inhaling viruses, what it does is keep you from exhaling them into the air. so if everyone wears a mask CORRECTLY then there is no virus being breathed into the f**king air. you only covering your mouth is not accomplishing a f**king thing.

Pilot is generally pretty good but I don’t know where you kids are. I travel a lot between Texas and Colorado. Flying J is somehow related. More of a real truck stop and they have always been cool to me. I do ALWAYS fill up and can show them a receipt. GBU y’all and stay safe……..& call your parents! They are worried!
