Formerly a hotel built in the early 1900, this Upper West Side studio has been completely transformed into a bright and stylish contemporary home full of space-saving design tricks where a couple can comfortably cook and entertain. Drawing inspiration from the Parisian Beaux-arts style of the building, the team at NYC Design Studio Duro Deco added various arched frames and curves to create a sense of height and space, softening the edges and enhancing the flow of the home. Moving the kitchen into the living space created one large open living area. The clever addition of a custom made βMurphy Tableβ to fit in a 4 seater dining area folds neatly up onto the wall and appears like an artwork when not in use. The materials used in the kitchen have been thoughtfully selected to reflect light from the large window across the room, whilst a frosted glass bathroom door allows light from the bathroom window to filter through to the rest of the apartment.

I like that multifunction dining table. Also, the arches in living room and bathroom. So pretty.
Great job with the space!
I like the layout and love the light. It needs a lot of plants; it feels bland and needs more life and some more color and soft texture. I’m sure the owners will add that.
The murphy table was the smartest decision everπ―
This is an incredible space. Can’t think of anything I’d change. It all works and is beautiful and feels so calm. Can you tell me the brand of kitchen cabinets and the brand of that gorgeous sofa? Thanks so much.
Beautiful
What a beautiful designed space, everything is just so carefully chosen and placed. The only thing that would be nice for my life style to to modify is the dinning table. I believe it could be bigger and still ligth to put away.
why is this apt considered small? Its far bigger than most of the apts I have lived in. confused by this
Beautifully put together. Feels very spacious. A very clever use of the space xx
This is Marvelous!
Beautiful, I loved it!
LOVE the building! Great use of space. I’d like to see some art on the walls, even if its framed prints. Too many blank white walls.
The bathroom wins. It would be magnificent if it had in unit laundry. Thatβs the only thing I canβt get past
An awesome apartment in an awesome city. The architect has done a great job!!! I want to live here!!!! Is this apartment featured in one of your publications? If so, can you tell me which one? Thanks
Just brilliant. Touches like the center opening closet double doors next to the entrance make for the ideal unobtrusive fit which is achieved throughout. Vertical tiles, stunning view out the bathroom window, opaque glass door, flush fit fridge, Wow. Only drawback to make me cringe would be having to leave the apartment to wash clothes but that’s a building plumbing thing not solvable by the architect.
I would add white shelves all the way up the wall over the bedβ¦use of vertical space didnβt seem optimal.
very practical and careful design!
btw. I think I know this building : ) )
Feels so homely like in the hospital π
I love the dining table.
Nice
OMG, I WANT THAT TABLE that becomes a piece of art when you fold it up!!!
Beautiful
I left NYC many years ago. I will never go back. I am very happy in my "mansion" of 5,000 sq ft compared to the tiny, uncomfortable rat traps of NYC today. My mortgage is cheaper than the rent for these.
Itβs so nice to see a beautiful redesign in my home town! Please show more New York City projects!! The architecture and design complimented each other so wonderfully!
Even though nyc has small places they have the best storage system ive ever seen.
The dining table is GREAT, I love it!
Real nice.
What about small apts. with no view? Any solutions?

Too white for me, but it could be fun to decorate and fill with plants. The hanging nighttable lamps are cool too.
I really like this space. My only quibble is that I would prefer a laundry area within the apartment, but that’s just me. Given the small area, I can understand why there isn’t one. Otherwise, I love it!
loved the color the the wood floor
I have a big aura and wide mind so i need a lot of space. π€
No tiny minimalistic for me π€
The tv are is ugly, as is the lamps, chairs. But the rest is cool!
can’t give this thumbs up..just average design…should have get wardrobe with bed.
Looks really cool
This is great work!
Love the natural light. Needs a pop of color like art on the walls or a bookcase. Feels a bit cold.
108.26 feet
Where are the books? A lot of these videos have like 5-15 books. Is it some staging rule? Do the designers just hate books and don’t want to include space for them? They could fill the archway with books. And have wrap around bookshelves on the wall. Mostly just don’t see enough books.
This is beautiful, with so many great ideas,
I need an L-shaped desk and a filing cabinet.

Oh how I love this. The design is very impressive. I just wish some of these floorplans were more culturally inclusive. Where I come from, the food is cooked with so many spices and the smell would spread everywhere inside the apartment. I would add a sliding door to separate the bedroom from the living/kitchen area. I love…love the arch in the living room.
Love this simplicity. The flip down table acting as an art is so amazing
what’s the reno budget for something like that?
33sqm isn’t that small.
.
Looks good, but donβt get fooled because this was shot with an ultra wide lens.
Well done!
stunning!!!!!!
I’d call this a 1 bedroom and not a studio, nice space.
