A maskless Karen inside Office Depot compares her rights to shop in a store without a mask to a woman wearing a hijab.
The videos were posted by TikToker and Office Depot employee @zooba2001. The caption read, “Karen Alert I’m so peeved that she had the AUDACITY to compare my hijab to her ‘right’ not to wear a mask.”
The user uploaded two videos of the interaction between two employees and the woman, who continued to argue it was her right to shop without a mask and called the sheriff when she wasn’t allowed to make a purchase. The customer begins to rant about how she deserves fair and equal treatment because of religious and medical exemptions that allow her to not wear a mask. The irate lady mispronounces the word hijab as “hajeeb” as she gestures to the woman filming.
In response to commenters’ questions about the situation ended, zooba2001 uploaded a second video. In the clip, the customer is apparently speaking on the phone with a sheriff and explaining that the store refused service to her because she is not wearing a mask inside.
I have to applaud the employees’ calm response to the customer. Zooba showed grea restraint and patience in the face of disrespect. I would’ve snapped. A hijab is completely different than a mask. A mask is to save lives not for religious purposes. And she said medical AND religious. I mean, the way she has no idea what she’s even trying to say. This is so embarrassing. There are no medical exemptions for masks. At this point, I feel like people are bored and trying to create drama. Stay home if you can’t wear a mask for 20 minutes. Regardless of wearing a mask or not, literally any store has the right to refuse service anyway.

It’s funny seeing Karen’s not getting their way
I wish Karens of all types could be herded into a great big barn and just shut away from daylight and all people with conmmon sense! I’m a disabled woman who uses a walker when I have to go out, sometimes a wheelchair and I can promise the ADA was not passed to allow you to skip wearing a mask during a pandemic just because you think you’re special. If a fat, disabled woman like me can wear a mask Karen, so can you. Any reason you can give not to wear one, I can blow right out of the water that yes you can!

I totally agree with this woman! These big businesses have no right to tell us to put a mask on our Face. Wake up people our rights are being stripped from us little by little. I don’t need someone looking after my health I’m a grown adult and I can take care of my own health and wearing a mask does not make you safe.

Why is it the people who scream the loudest about being required to wear a mask during a world-wide pandemic are never heard from when told that they must wear PANTS on a “normal” day? If being asked to wear a mask is the worst violation of your rights you have ever suffered then you have to seriously reevaluate the enormous amount of privilege you believe you have. Just because a private business offers public access does not mean they forfeit the ability to regulate or deny that access to anyone for any reason. A “public accommodation” is exactly that – an ACCOMMODATION, not a RIGHT, and denying that access (even for an “improper” reason) is not a criminal act.
A mask mandate or policy is NOT a violation of anyone’s civil rights any more than is a prohibition on smoking. Smoking and second-hand smoke can be regulated and even banned by the business or facility even if the law doesn’t expressly forbid it; a mask mandate is exactly the same thing. Why should the rest of us have to deal with the risks and dangers of some over-indulged under-educated science-denier wanting to breathe stupidly?

Just last week I dragged a dude that wouldn’t wear a mask out of WalMart by his hair. It was the most gratifying experience I’ve ever had. He was crying like a baby and all the employess and customers cracked up.

Employers are complaining that they can’t get people to work for them. Well, a lot of people don’t think that a paycheck is worth having to deal with the karens and darrens out there…you know the people that think it’s political, or they know more than the doctors, or just don’t care about anyone else.
