Our Scariest Wild Camping Moment | VAN LIFE Croatia
In this van life Croatia video we have our scariest experience while wild camping. After living in a campervan for 2 months, we didn’t expect this to happen. We escape the EU to save our Schengen days by leaving Hungary and going to Croatia where we planned to tick off a bucket list destination at the Plitvice Lakes. Before the lakes, we headed to Kopački Rit Nature Park and also discover the lesser-known Rastoke about 30 minutes away from the Plitvice Lakes. Finally, we spend as much time as possible trying to catch a glimpse of the predator we saw whilst wild camping.

Wild animals in the wild, who’d have thunk it .
Can tell you a few story’s of our travels. in America we drove down a very small road that we had never been or seen before.as were just driving in it said last chance turn around. We decided to carry on not knowing how narrow the road was and 23 miles long.and only wide enough for one vehicle. With water each side and jungle like the rops in a Tazan film.In front of us was a Cran bird.it flew into the bushes as it did thousands of birds flew and a panther jumped out. It was amazing to see and scared to death. When we got to the end of the dirt track road it was dark.and the road became wider, and the lake was bigger.we put the head lights on the the lake and all you could see was what looked like marbles the eyes it was full of alligators. Got out of there went back in the day light next day were we could really see how many were there and how close we were we stood out side and there were to having a fight.
Northern Wisconsin has wolves, elk, deer, black bears, eagles, and an occasional coyote. Northern Minnesota has all that plus Moose!!! Best to stay away during mating season because Moose are extremely territorial, making them extremely dangerous. During mating season a male deer can beat you up very much and you will survive. But, a moose during mating season will kill you. Not sure if the Upper Peninsula of Michigan has wolves and elk, they may have migrated there from Wisconsin.. The UP of Michigan has no moose. Yellowstone National Park has Bison and Grizzly Bears – much more dangerous than black bears. Cougars and coyotes are in western states, mostly. Idaho has Mountain Sheep – they are so awesome! That is my information for you. Happy travels!!!
Thanks for sharing this with me 😊, 🐻 is who I have met in the wild and in my yard, yikes 😳
A grizzly bear outside of our tent in glacier National Park, Montana. We didn’t lock eyes, but that was enough for me to leave.
About 10 years ago when my husband and I were still tent camping we had a bear visit our campsite. In California there are bear boxes in the campgrounds where bears tend to visit and it woke us up because it was trying to get into our bear box where all our food was. We shined our flashlight on it and it walked away but it was huge! The scariest thing about it was how quiet it was as it walked away from our campsite which was surrounded by tall grass.
Yes, my friend and I ran into a large white wolf in Banff Canada also extremely fearful experience, I personally froze and paralyze. Wolf was only ten feet away. After a while seemed like eternity, he turned around and walked away.
Beans out !!
You brits crack me up.
If there was wolves in the area you would never see a cat
I have been living in London for nearly 9 years now. I left Croatia to pursue career goals and a life in the entertainment industry. I was jaded due to lousy politics and small-minded people. I knew the natural riches of Croatia were alright, but I had to leave it all behind to truly understand how wonderful it is. I was initially surprised and for some reason cynical when I would talk to Brits who had been to Croatia for the first time and speaking of breathtaking natural beauties they had seen. Due to a complex set of reasons, I am growing increasingly homesick the longer I live in London, although I do work that I absolutely love and have met many more interesting people than Croatia could ever offer. I have grown as a person so much whilst successfully keeping up with the rewarding London grind, but here I am, watching your beautiful and playful video, of the two of you, brave, curious and respectful explorers, and I cannot stop crying with homesickness. I am so happy you have witnessed the beauty of the mills of Rastoke, gazed down the emerald waters of Plitvice, and briefly faced the elusive wolf on a crisp, misty morning in arguably the most mysterious region in Croatia. I cannot explain this feeling. You were in my homeland while I was away. I am in your homeland, away. Yet somehow I feel like I have been your host. Silly stuff. Thank you for visiting. I’m gonna calm down now and finish watching the video, lol. Take care, Beans!
PS thank you for your response to my comment! thanks again!

Hi can I ask how much this type of camper would be and what’s it called would 2 adults and a young child fit? I love the look out idea!
Yes! At Yosemite National Park. There are bears everywhere! One VERY large one walked next to our RV and was climbing on the bike rack on the back. It was very awesome.
OOOOHHH so scary….. stupid click bait
Awesome video. I was hiking a few years back at Grand Teton National Park and turned a corner on the trail and there was a baby moose. I stopped and listened for a few seconds and Mama Moose came up the embankment and joined her baby. I put myself behind a boulder as they approached me and walked on by. Such an incredible moment

Alaska, doing work for the government, went fishing with a guide on the weekend. Fishing in the Kenai River, 75 to 100 Meters upstream from a Grizzly Bear. Scared to death, I wouldn’t cast my line in, when the guide told me not to worry. We were upstream. The Bear knew he was downstream able to catch the Salmon before we could. He, (the grizzly), never bothered us. However, my heart would not stop pounding, one eye on the bear, one on the fishing pole and I only caught one fish. The guide said, it was because the fish could feel my fear through the line…..BS of course. Went back the next weekend, no bear and 10 fish. So, maybe he was right….LoL
While I was stationed in Anchorage Alaska we often came in close proximity to Grizzly Bears while they were fishing for Salmon. What was so amazing was they were within about 50 to 75 feet but they had no interest in us because they were quite full on their diet of Salmon. One of the most amazing experiences during my time in Alaska. You guys have one of the coolest and most exciting video experiences ever! Thanks for the stories.
That wolf could smell last night’s dinner. I came looking for a snack.
I’ve seen a mountain lion several times close up and it was beautiful and spooky scary at the same time.
funny! I saw a wolf walking down the middle of my street in of all places Syracuse NY! it was like 3am and I was outside on smoke break and there it was in the middle of the street as far away from the houses as it could be. I know that a single wolf is no danger to me,…BUT I must admit that I sprinted back inside lmao!
I’ve been here and it was an unforgettable experience
If you guys want to see animals you have to go to Alaska, the best three years of my life!
big fan of Emma’s she’s adourable!………you’re not so bad yourself Alex! lol love you guys!
ps, just tell yourselves it wasn’t a cat but a baby puma!!!
You guys need walking sticks just in case you see a wild animal or an unfriendly dog when you are hiking. It would make a good weapon in that instance.

I had a bear come right up to my picnic table while I was eating dinner a big black bear all I did was get up and walk away

Hi guys. Well, I once was out in the wild when I came across something I haven’t seen in years. I was face to face and my eyes locked with it’s eyes and at first I was frozen in fear. Then I turned and ran like hell! I heard it crashing thru the trees after me and the hair on the back of my neck was up. Never been that scared in my life! I never thought I would ever see my ex girlfriend again, but there she was, chasing after me in the woods! Chilling! 🥸🌲🌲🌲😸
Guys, I wouldn’t be so disappointed in your place. What you saw was a rare European wild cat. They are pretty darn difficult to spot, Croatia or elsewhere. They have a thick tail with black rings, just like the one caught on your camera. It’s a nocturnal predator and you must have seen it at the end of its "shift". Not as cool as the wolf, but having had a mix breed of a wild cat and a domestic cat for a year or so, I can tell you there was something special about that cat. The extremely thick but soft coat, massive tail, intricate patterns on its head, and an absolute lack of regard for any attempts of human training! The fella used to roam for a few days at a time and then suddenly come back. Alas, one day he rambled on never to return. I’d be pretty stoked to have seen a proper wild cat like you have!
Yes love getting naked anywhere that is safe too do so
There one ting you guies would make anyone scared of going camping your better off at home with your door locked
